King Carl Gustaf in the evening with Ingemar Stenmark, the olympic and world champion in slalom and giant slalom. Stenmark won more international races than any other alpine skier in history: 86 wins.

The Alpine World Championships in Åre has got a royal stamp. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia have seen the weekend's downhill races as well as the Crown Princess couple and children Estelle and Oscar.
Legend Anja Pärson, who is also present in Åre, spent time with the king during yesterday's competitions in combination.
- We had coffee and tried to make the time between the races go. We took it easy, Pärson says.
How important is it to athletes that the royal family is in place during a World Championships?
- It's really important and very big thing. The competitors feel a great joy about meeting the royal family. When they are present, the athletes know that the nation is behind one when you are here.
Large parts of the Åre audience chose to go home early in the competitions. The king didn't like that, Pärson reveals.
- It honors our majesty that he remained during the whole competition. He had a little cold and coughed, but remained and honored everyone. 90 percent of the audience did not remain. It annoyed him that no more were left and engaged. He is incredibly committed. It's incredibly nice, says Pärson.

The king and queen's interview, done last weekend, but TV4 play updated it today to their website. At the video we see also Victoria, Daniel and the children and the norwegian royals. Queen Silvia mentions also that Estelle had been skiing with her parents in Åre. It is great, as Daniel says that the children move and it is important. The children move so little, they sit in front of TV or phone.

I'm guessing that Daniel is referring to Swedish children in general rather than his own; as this struck me by surprise if it's in reference to his own, since the family have always struck me as very sporty and outdoorsy.

I would hope that Estelle and Oscar are indeed not yet occupied to much by their phone. So, it indeed sounds as a more general comment.
 
I've loved the pics from this event! Lovely to see both RFs together and having fun.
