World Childhood Foundation Sverige at its website:

Childhood Prize
Childhood celebrates years in 2019. As part of our twenty-year anniversary, we have instituted a prize that we want to distribute to a person in Sweden who works daily to protect children from violence and sexual abuse, but who rarely receives recognition for his/her efforts - an invisible hero simply. The prize winner can be a police officer, a pediatric nurse or a child interrogation specialist.
The Childhood Prize will be awarded annually and would like to draw attention to the people in Sweden who are crucial in keeping children safe but whose work is not always visible most - such as police officers or employees in social services, care and school. A professional group is in focus each year. The award is to be awarded to a person who stands out in their professional role, shows great personal commitment, ability to cooperate with others and has achieved concrete results to protect children from violence and sexual abuse.
The prize sum of SEK 50,000 is to be used for something that makes the prize-winner even better in his/her professional role - for example for participation in an international conference, a study trip or further education.

Nomination for Childhood Prize 2019
The 2019 Childhood Prize will be awarded to a person in Sweden who is working to investigate sexual abuse of children, such as a police officer, child investigator, forensic / forensic technician, a child interrogation specialist, prosecutor or the like.
Anyone can nominate candidates for the Childhood Prize. If you know someone who belongs to the above mentioned professional groups and excels in their professional role - nominate them for our prize here.
Deadline for nomination is November 1, 2019.
By November 25, we will announce the three finalists. The prize ceremony will be held on December 9, 2019.

The Childhood Prize jury consists of seven members:
Princess Madeleine
Princess Madeleine has worked with Childhood since 2006, both in Stockholm and the USA. She has been a member of the Childhood Swedish Board since February 2016 and is also an honorary member of the Childhood USA Board.

Carl Göran Svedin
Carl Göran Svedin is professor emeritus of child and adolescent psychiatry and research leader at Barnafrid - National Knowledge Center at Linköping University. Carl-Göran is the initiator of the BUP Elephant, Barnahus Linköping and Barnahus Lund.
Christian Berg
Christian Berg is the founder of the Safer Society. Christian's companies develop software used by companies and police agencies around the world to identify, track and report online child abuse material.
Anna-Karin Hildingson Boqvist

Queen Silvia begins her visit in Heidelberg tomorrow at 11 o'clock. The solemn ceremony for the inauguration of the Childhood-Haus in the auditorium of the New University is scheduled at 12.15. Afterwards the queen will greet the people of Heidelberg on the university square. "If you want to see the queen, you should be at the university square between 12 and 13 o'clock", says Julia Reichel, who is responsible for the communication of the World Childhood Foundation Germany.
Thereafter, the queen continues to the Altklinikum in Bergheim, where the Childhood-Haus is located. There she is first greeted by children of the Swedish School of German-Swedish Society, before she visits the the house.
After further appointments in the afternoon, the anniversary celebration at the castle will take place from 7 pm onwards. Friends and longtime companions of the foundation are invited to the royal hall of the castle. In this context, the monarch will also honor eleven journalists from the Hessischer Rundfunk for their multimedia theme special "Victims without Voice - How we protect our children from violence". The donations collected during the gala flow into the project work with children who have experienced sexual violence.
On Friday, the official visit will come to an end: In the morning, a meeting of the Childhood Foundation will take place before Queen Silvia will travel to Bensheim to receive the Karl-Kübel-Prize there. The Foundation for Children and Family honors the outstanding commitment of the Queen for the protection and rights of children with the award endowed with 25,000 euros. She will then take part in a working meeting with representatives of her foundation in Hessen to establish a Childhood-Haus there.

From Thursday, queen Silvia gave an interview to Rhein-Neckar Zeitung.
Your Majesty, Today is the opening of the second German Childhood House in your native city. How important is it for you to be represented in Heidelberg with your foundation?
- The first Childhood house in Germany was founded in Leipzig. That made me very happy, because it is a prime example. Of course, I'm really pleased that Heidelberg is following the example, because I realized that the problem was understood, tackled and made the house possible in a very short time. Of course, the experts in Heidelberg have worked well before, but now all the institutions involved in the Childhood House have a common home. It is so important that the children are welcomed in a child-friendly environment, there is a calm atmosphere and the experts are not constantly interrupted. In the Childhood House, the question is at the center: How to help the children? It fills me with pride that my Heidelberg has implemented this.
More Childhood houses are planned in Berlin, Offenburg and Dusseldorf. When you founded the foundation in 1999, did you believe that the idea would prevail in such a way?
- The foundation was founded a long time ago, 20 years ago. There was another situation. Today, "Me too" is everywhere in the world, where women who have been exploited attract attention. That they have found such a hearing, I think is incredibly important. But 20 years ago, children were not listened to. What happens to children is taboo in many countries, people do not talk about it. Also for me it was not easy to talk about it - as a woman, as a mother and as a queen. But I thought: if no one talks about it, you can not change it. That moved me to go ahead and found the World Childhood Foundation in Sweden, Germany, Brazil and the US. Today we have 100 good projects every year, which we implement very carefully and responsibly.
In Heidelberg you are celebrating the 20th anniversary of your foundation at the castle. Do you remember your first state visit here in Heidelberg?
- Yes, I do: That was 1979. Were you already born?
No, I was born just one year later ...
- But yes, I remember. It was a strange situation because I expected Prince Carl Philip, the eighth month. That was a bit complicated. A state visit to Germany was, of course, the first thing you wanted to organize after the wedding in 1976 from the German side. But then I expected Victoria and we had to stop the planning. In 1979 I did not dare to cancel for the second time. It was fantastic: All people of Heidelberg were on their feet, you had to form a ring of security around me so I could move. But there was much warmth, even to the king. It was really nice. I also sneak back to Heidelberg every now and then. My parents are buried here, including my brother. I am in Heidelberg more often than you know.
When you are in Heidelberg, are there any special memories that you have of your childhood?
- Naturally! Not only that my father was born in Heidelberg, my mother also was brought here from Berlin in 1943 during the dangerous years. My brothers were here at school, I was born here - and of course that connects. I remember when my father drove past a certain bridge, he always spoke in the Heidelberg dialect and told us a lot about his jokes in school. That's why the city is very much alive in our family. When we came back to Heidelberg in 1957/58, the house was not yet ready: until it was finished, I was at the boarding school in Wieblingen. These were my first experiences in Germany: school. "Not yet on a class level," it was said at that time about me - and I was actually not yet. Wieblingen was particularly interesting, a good school, strict, At that time, there was only girls. I experienced my first snow and my first advent singing here. It was a great time.
In the establishment of the Childhood House, your foundation placed great value on the connection to your old school, the Elisabeth-von-Thadden-Schule: All the pictures in the rooms are from the pupils there.
- This is a very delightful thought and I thank the team of Childhood Germany. That is especially nice, the connection between the school and the children being looked after here.
Did your foundation ultimately make you talk more about sexual abuse?
- In many countries it is still a taboo topic. Of course the Childhood House has become a symbol: we have 37 houses in Sweden, two in Germany and I know that many will follow. I'm glad about that. But we are also active in other areas: many years ago we received a call from a young engineer who wanted to do something against pedophilia. He has developed the "Netclean" computer program, with the help of Childhood, which companies can install to report police who download child pornography material during working hours. Many pedophiles have been found with it in Sweden. So we have ensured that in everyday life on this topic is spoken.
One last question about Heidelberg: When you're in Stockholm, what comes to your mind first when you think of Heidelberg?
- I have to say, the warmth of the people. Really, I have friends - friends everywhere. And when I walk through Heidelberg, I feel that everyone is friendly to me. And in a cordiality that is really moving. I also got several serenades. So it's always nice.

For 20 years, Swedish Queen Silvia and her foundation "World Childhood Foundation" have been giving intensive care to disadvantaged children. In Heidelberg, she has now honored an hr editorial team with the Childhood Award 2019 for the multimedia project "Opfer ohne Stimme".
High level visit to Heidelberg: Queen Silvia of Sweden has visited her hometown and inaugurated a house in which children and young people get help if they have become victims or witnesses of violence. The fact that the Hessian Broadcasting company has also dealt intensively with the subject has not escaped Queen Silvia.
And so, late in the evening, she awarded the Childhood Award 2019 to an hr eleven-member journalist team for the multimedia theme special "Sacrificial Voice - How to Protect Our Children from Violence," published in May 2018.

From today

Queen Silvia received The Karl Kübel Prize
"We are very pleased to hand over the award to Her Majesty on today's 110th birthday of our Founder"," said Matthias Wilkes, Chairman of the Board of the Karl Kübel Foundation. "Queen Silvia exemplifies how she works with her child rights organization, the World Childhood Foundation, to fight against the exploitation and abuse of children." In more than 100 projects worldwide, these children are affected or threatened by sexual exploitation or abuse. The prize money goes to the World Childhood Foundation.
Peter Maffay, singer and Karl Kübel Prize Winner 2016, gave a touching eulogy as a longtime companion in the engagement for children: "Your Majesty has always looked closely where others have looked the other way. You are the best ambassador for children in Sweden and around the world. "
"I am proud to receive this prestigious Karl Kübel Award! We share one important concern: that children can grow up without neglect and violence", said Queen Silvia at the presentation of the award. For Germany, the World Health Organization counts on one million affected girls and boys who have experienced or are experiencing sexual violence. "This frightening number will not change that fast if we adults do not speak openly about this taboo topic, if we are not attentive, take children seriously, listen to them and act responsibly", the monarch stressed.

On September 5 and 6, the Queen spent in Heidelberg, Bensheim and Wiesbaden in Germany. During the visit the World Childhood Foundation's 20th anniversary was celebrated.
On Thursday, the Queen attended the inauguration of the second Childhood House of Germany. The formal opening ceremony took place in the large hall of Heidelberg University. During the ceremony, the Queen made a speech.
Then the Queen, together with Elke Büdenbender, the wife of German President, went to the new children's house.
"Childhood Haus" is for children who are suspected of being subjected to violence or sexual abuse. The environment in the houses is adapted to the needs of the children and everyone that the child meets there, for example the police investigators, prosecutors, social services, psychiatry, forensic medicine, child health and medical care are specially trained for it.
The relevant authorities cooperate on the spot so that the child does not have to be carried around to different places and repeat their story of trauma time and time again.
During the evening a dinner was given at Heidelberg Palace to celebrate Childhood's 20th anniversary.
On Friday morning, the Queen's program continued with a board meeting in Childhood Deutschland. The Queen then went to Bensheim to receive the Karl Kübel Prize.
The Karl Kübel Foundation praised the Queen for her commitment to the world's children through the formation of the World Childhood Foundation. During the awards ceremony, the Queen gave a speech.
The day then ended with the Queen and other present representatives from Childhood going to Wiesbaden to be welcomed there by Hesse's Prime Minister Volker Bouffier.

Wiesbaden's sky shines in sweden-blue for the visit of Queen Silvia - conversations in a personal atmosphere
Royal visit to the Hessian State Chancellery. Minister President of the State of Hesse Volker Bouffier and his wife Ursula greeted the Swedish Queen Silvia on Friday in front of a good 200 fence guests. The queen came to talk to Bouffier about her children's aid project.
200 royalists had found their way to the Kranzplatz to greet the German-born Silvia of Sweden in the state capital. According to the standards, a Swedish flag was unrolled and waved joyfully. Particular attention was drawn to a man with an original sports bag of the 1972 Olympic Games Munich.
In the State Chancellery the Queen were presented to the Hessian Ministers. Afterwards, she signed the guest book and continued with the Minister President and others for the purpose of her visit, the talk about her children's foundation.'
Prevent violence against children
Because of the tight schedule, Minister President Bouffier subsequently issued a press release alone. In it reported on the cordial atmosphere in which the discussion round took place. Bouffier commented on the content as follows: "The issue of violence against children has been preoccupying us in Hesse for many years. On this basis, Queen Silvia sought the conversation with us. The question that drives the Queen as well as the Hessian government is: "How can we help children who have been victims of violence and how can we prevent children from experiencing violence?"
Children often experience violence in family and friends
Bouffier made it clear in his remarks that it is legally difficult, in particular, because crimes against children are often committed at close social level. In Hesse, the network against violence has existed since 2003, in which different departments cooperate. The common goal is to create a legal situation that affected children do not have to testify several times to the deeds committed against them.

A six-part documentary series is recorded right now about Queen Silvia, Princess Madeleine and World Childhood Foundation and it is made for TV3. It will start airing in the end of the year, says Åsa Andreasson Åkerström, communications manager for World Childhoood Foundation to Svensk Damtidning. Roger Lundgren makes the interviews to the series.

Madeleine will be at Gothenburg Book Fair on 27th September to tell about the book "Stella och hemligheten", in which she is one of the writers.
- The book fair will be Princess Madeleine's main focus during her visit, says Margareta Thorgren.
Exactly how long Princess Madeleine stays in Sweden, the court does not want to go out. However, Margareta Thorgren explains that it will be a shorter visit. It is because she is traveling alone while Chris and the kids stay in Florida.
The visit will also make Madeleine historic. She becomes the first royal to attend the Book Fair.

Queen Silvia stayed in Gothenburg and visited today NetClean, a company which has cooperated with World Childhood Foundation for 15 years. NetClean develops one of the world’s leading technology solutions to protect businesses and organisations against child sexual abuse material.
Belga Image

On Thursday, September 12, the Queen, with the World Childhood Foundation, visited company Netclean Technologies, which works to stop child sexual abuse.
Netclean has developed a digital tool that is similar to an anti-virus program, but which instead of viruses can detect images and videos where children are subjected to sexual abuse. The tool is offered to organizations and companies that want to ensure that such material does not exist in employees' work computers. According to Netclean, one in a thousand employees has materials where children are subjected to sexual violence on their work computer.
Since 2015, Netclean also annually publishes a report on sexual offenses against children. The report provides an insight into how police and the judiciary in countries around the world work with these types of crimes. When Netclean started its operations, the World Childhood Foundation supported it for developing the new technology.
During the visit the Queen also received information about the Safer Society Group's other companies Griffeye and Paliscope.

With the overall aim of strengthening the tolerance of children online, Childhood has contributed to the development of the interactive board game "Parkgömmet" for children in primary school age. The game was launched this week and will now be distributed free of charge to all Swedish primary schools. At our birthday celebration yesterday, Chilhood's founder Queen Silvia was given the opportunity to test the game.
PARKGÖMMET was developed by a research team at @hogskolaniskovde in collaboration with the cultural foundation Change Attitude and consists of a physical board game and augmented reality (AR), when looking at the board game through a tablet or smartphone. It is similar to a classic treasure hunt where each player hides a treasure and there are clues to the hiding places. The clues players must be afraid of, so that no one else can find the treasure. During the course of the game, the children receive messages from an unknown person who tries to get them to reveal clues to where the treasure is hidden. They get to experience how it feels and how they react to common grooming techniques such as flattering, nagging and threatening.
The researchers in Skövde have had access to authentic chat logs from the network where children have been contacted for sexual purposes. The analysis of the chat logs has then been used as a starting point for being able to create gaming events without any scary or inappropriate content in the game itself. In contrast, the gaming events create a discussion base for follow-up teacher-led conversations that will raise awareness of risks online. These discussions can then be led by a teacher or educator.

Publishing house Bonnier Carlsen organizes the event/seminar on 27th September at 11.00-11.45 at Gothenburg Book Fair.

How do you take courage and say when something doesn't feel right? When Princess Madeleine makes her children's book debut, it is with a theme that, with the work of the World Childhood Foundation, engages her strongly: children's rights. One day friend Elena tells a terrible secret for Stella, something she can't tell anyone. But Elena's secret grinds like a heavy stone in Stella's stomach. What should she do?
Contributors: Madeleine Bernadotte, co-author Marie Oskarsson, publisher Ulrika Caperius, Paula Guillet De Monthoux, Secretary General of Childhood, and Anna Norlén, child psychologist. Moderator: Tara Moshizi, journalist.

There are over 80 events starting at 11.00 at the Fair program.
