Queen Silvia should have got the Scandinavian Human Dignity Award on 15th October.
"Queen Silvia's work to protect children from all forms of abuse and exploitation, to strengthen their human dignity, hope and faith in the future and promote their rights and freedoms, makes her a worthy winner."
The prize is awarded by the organization Scandinavian Human Rights Lawyers, which has links to abortion opposition.
Now the court tells that the Queen will not accept it.
The Queen would not only receive the prize but also to attend a seminar on human trafficking.
Behind the event and the awards ceremony is legal organization Scandinavian Human Rights Lawyers. Two of the three times the price has gone to abortion opponents.
The conference has been sharply criticized, and the Queen's participation has been challenged, for instance by Aftonbladet's Eva Franchell.
On Sunday evening, the court announced via their website that the queen cancells her participation in the seminar and refrains from receiving the prize Scandinavian Human Dignity Award in 2014.
- The Queen will say no to the price, says Margareta Thorgren.
She explains the background to the Queen's decision to refrain from participating in the seminar and receiving the prize are the trafficking issue has been overlooked.
- The Queen has also decided not to participate in the conference.
Even Uppsala University and Uppsala UN association have decided not to participate.
The University will arrange for a new conference in the spring and the queen is positive for it. The Queen endorses Uppsala University decision, says Margareta Thorgren.
