Is this a gala do or a only a lunch?

Only one event for Victoria the whole next week, what is she doing, studying? I imagine she cant meet with von Sydow everyday of the week, I guess he has a job to do as well?
We usually don't get to see pictures from the receptions they host for the diplomats, but I imagine that it's not a gala. It's in the evening though, so I imagine that it has to be something in between.

I think Crown Princess Victoria will be at the World Economic Forum this week, but I though wonder why they haven't put that in the calendar... According to Dagens Industri she will participate in Davos, as she had done previous years as well.

Thank you, that's good to hear. The whole idea is to make it easier for our members to find the different threads on the Swedish Royal Family which are spread around the forums.

Here are two more from the dinner, including a sideview of Victira and the buttons
www.cover.es

I wonder ho Silvias big emerald necklace would look as a tiara, I love emeralds and think they would look great on Victorias dark hair, and then we could leave the buttons where they belong, either in the vault or for Lilian, now they seem to wear one or both of theese ugly creations for every gala. Is there not supposed to be yet another representation dinner soon?

The Swedish Royal Family sells their actions in the Brazilian cellulose Aracruz, defendant to devastate tropical forest.

The accusations, that have had ample repercussion in Swedish mass media, caused an investigation of the Royal House, that have decided to sell its participation in the company, according to an official notice done public today.
The Royal family has a company, Gluonen, that invests mainly in bottoms, although also in actions of other companies, as it is the case of Aracruz.
But they are the three children of Kings Silvia and Carl Gustav, - Victoria, Carl Philip and Magdeleine- the majority proprietors of Gluonen.

Aftonbladet today has an article about the celebrations of the kings 60th birthday.
http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyhete...772101,00.html

Basicly it says that the celebrations is spread over two days, april 28 and 30 (the kings real birthday) with these events:

Friday 28 april:
* The king hosts a workshop in the Bernadotte libarary with about 100 youth from all over the country. The theme is about youth problems such as being left out (bad translation, maybe someone better at english can translate the swedish word "utanförskap").

Sunday 30 april:
* Service in the castle church 10.30
* Changning of the guards 11.30-12.30
* Music performace from Adolf fredriks choir and the "defencemusic" on the lion hill 13.00-13.30
* procession by horse to the cityhall 13.30-14.00
* Lunch held by the Riksdag (parlament) in the cityhall 14.00
* Consert in the hall of state 19.00 with Anne Sofie von Otter, Lisa Nilsson, the Royal Philharmonic orchestra, among others.
* Galadinner in the "white sea" with foreign heads of states and domestic dignitaries ca 21.30

The article says that it´s not clear yet wich foreign dignitaries will be present because the invitations haven´t gone out yet.

Is the King's birthday always a big deal with invitations giong out to foreign dignitaries or is just because it's the 60th? I hope Madeleine can make her father's big 6-0; it would be very sad if she couldn't make it.

Thank you for this information, rop81. I must say I´m a little surprised, how "little" the birthday will be celebrated. After all this blabla from ETW (which let me believe the king´s bday will be celebrated like the Mozart-year ) I expected something big going over 2-3 days and where a trip with the other Royals is included (comparable to their silver wedding or the 60th bday-party of king Harald and queen Sonja in 1997)

The King's birthday isn't usually celebrated in this way, the extra celebrations are just in order to mark his 60th birthday. On his "normal" birthdays there is usually a congratulatory ceremony on the court yard with the Defence involved, and people standing around to cheer for him, and children handing over flowers etc. You can take a look at the 2005 birthday of the King to get the idea.

I agree, I'm also surprised that the celebrations won't be grander. But then again, his 50th was really celebrated thoroughly, even occupying the whole Globe Arena for one celebration, and the Silver Wedding was also very special and those celebrations were great. Well well, let's wait and see how they are carried out and then we can judge.

Princess Lilian will not be there? ...I know Princess Madeleine won't be there because of NYC but Lilian? She always looks so put together at gala events. Hopefully she'll surprise us and show up like Madeleine did at the second Nobel dinner!

Lilian is there, she wears a peachy-pink dress she has worn before with her laurel wreath tiara and the button necklace she and Madeleine wore the nobel weekend. Victoria wears the burgundy reddish nobel dress she has only worn that one time, her hair is curled and loose with the baden fringe tiara. Silvia ofcourse:p also wears an old dress, a offwhite one covered with lace and the connaught tiara

Finally! Victoria repeated that wonderful dress. Out of all her dresses to recycle, I always wondered why Victoria didn't use this one. She only wore it once to Nobel 2001 (four years ago!) and we have never seen it since. I think it looked better at Nobel 2001 because of the elegant up-do. Carl Philip is hot as always and Lilian just looks peachy! I love how she wears bright colors and pulls them off.

I find it very lovely how all the royal "children" assist Princess Lilian. At her age she is probably becoming someswhat unsteady on her feet and one or another of V, CP or M have a firm grip of her hand and arm.
