The Nobel Prize 2002 - 2012

The royal ladies all looked stunning today ... somehow, even the dreaded button tiaras looked better than usual:flowers:

I´m quite disappointed by the queens choice of both dress and jewelry. The old dress from Fredrik and Marys wedding is one of my least favorite dress worn by the queen in recent years and with that she have her hair loose and just put the nine prong tiara on top. With that she wears quite "simple" pearls.

Victorias dress looks better after seeing it from both sides - it has the flower (or what it is) from the shoulder continuing all way around the back, so pretty good choice of dress, I just can´t understand why she didn´t choose to wear the amethyst tiara instead of the six button tiara, even though it looks quite good this time it would have been so much better with the complete amethyst set.

Madeleine was my favorite today - she has an fantastic dress! Even though she choose to wear the four button tiara it looks quite good on her and the necklace is so beautiful.

I would have wanted Victoria to wear a green dress instead of Madeleine and have the fringe or the Connaugh tiara with the big emerald necklace from the bernadotte foundation. Unfortunatly we got to see both the button tiaras today - but if we´re lucky they now stay quite some time in the vaults - and i hope that they don´t come out for Victorias wedding in june - unless they have them reset into a more beautiful tiara, but that seems extremely unlikely now and on the tv they referred to the six button tiara as part of the crown jewels  is that true? then we might never get rid of it....

Crown princess Victoria is clearly the Queen of this evening. Madeleine is ok, but nothing special. But the big dissappoinment is Queen Silvia, her dress doesn´t suit the Nobel festivities at all.
It has been great to watch live these two great events tonight. I especially enjoyed the great music at the Award Ceremony.

The banquet is still going on here:Nobelpriset 2009 - Banketten - Nobel 2009 | SVT Play (and in the blue hall)

The royal ladies looked very lovely. I believe Q. Silvia purposefully chose to not be her most glorious this year. Her two daughters, both to be brides this coming year, we the center of attention. Q. Silvia still looked every inch the queen in her outfit which must have looked beautiful in real life.

CP Victoria looks more and more as a future queen. She must make her own mother proud and Q. Silvia's "queenliness" is certainly being picked up by Victoria.

I loved the deep purple color on Victoria, I think it made her look regal and it is the color of royalty so it only seems fitting. Madeleine looked fantastic in her dress as well, the green played to the best of her features like her hair and skin color. And the men handsome as always!

and i totally agree that Queen Silvia chose to have a dress that was already worn because of the upcoming cost of both weddings for her daughters, which they will put money towards so that makes sense.

There has been lots of talk about the women here... but not a word about the King and prince Carl Philip... and... what can I say. Handsom as usually in their tailcoats. Never seen CP so good looking I think and the King is really THE KING (and he was kind of cute when he walked up to the ill and the oldest prize-recievers- usually its them who has to walk up to the king) Carl-Pilip has an medal on... anybody know something about it? Something from the military?

What a dissapointment! Victoria looked nice in the large button tiara, however. The Queen and Princess Madeleine were really quite boring.

I see it differently. victorias dress is damn boring. madeleine was wearing a very nice dress. very refined worked and their hair to fit very well. The queen wore the dress too often.

I like the princesses very mutch, the queen wear an older dress but also nice, the collor of the dress of Madeleine I love it !!

I thought they all looked lovely. The Queen was wearing a dress I think is very beautiful, although I do get tired of constantly seeing that nine prong tiara. The amethyst would have been better.
Victoria looked regal and beautiful in the six button tiara, and amethyst pieces--not at all boring! Very regal.
Madeleine looked wonderful--I'm not a fan of the black lace and satin, but she is so beautiful she makes a paper sack look good. Nice to see her in a different tiara, and the fringe as necklace is quite attractive as well. I liked her placement of the four buttons in her hair-very regal.
Christina is in the Cut Steel tiara.

I'm dissapointed there aren't more pictures of Prince Carl Philip.

ABout the men: The king look very sad and grumpy at the Award ceremony, better at the banquet. Carl Philip is handsome, but he could do something to his hair. Jonas Bergström has something that irritates me very much, but I can´t tell exactly what it is.

Jonas doesn't bother me, but I know what it's like to be irritated by someone, yet you can't quite put your finger on it as to why.

I actually like Carl Philip's hair - it's not a boring short haircut like most other royal men. He definitely shouldn't let it get any longer though.

Thanks for all those beautiful pics!!

It was a great night for swedish royals!! can't wait for tonight!!

Well, Well, I must say how wonderful it was to see ALL the Royal family at the Nobel Prize Ceremony of 2009. The gowns, the jewels, the pomp, and protocal were lovely to see. Just think, all this celebration just in the name of PEACE- what a truly great cause, IMO.

Loved the Purple Gown on CP Victoria, and Madeline looked great in the Emerald Green Satin. (thou I would have edited the black lace more). Victoria looks every bit a Queen these days, Im happy for her.

I thought the Queens dress was better fitted when she wore it to Mary & Fred's Wedding in 2004, not really a favorite of mine. The Gentlemen looked royal and regal, I do like Carl's hair.

Jonas seems arrogant to me, and somewhat cocky, IMO. It seems like a great night was had by all.

I am afraid that you apparently confuse the Nobel Peace Prize - awarded in Oslo, Norway on Dec. 10 during the day in the presence of members of the Norwegian royal family - with the Nobel Awards ceremony, which takes place in Stockholm, Sweden later on the same day in the presence of the Swedish royal family.
Here's a link to the website of the Nobel Foundation wich explains the matter and includes lots of information about the different prizes, as well as the latest news:

I think Victoria's look tonight is my new favborite one of her. The plum-purple color is very flattering and I love the trailing embellishments. She just looked so lovely and relaxed, very much at ease. Can't wait for next June!:flowers:

Madeleine seems to wear the diamond bandeau Victoria wore last year.
Too bad it can hardly be recognized in her hair.

Victoria looked great tonight - but it seems as Daniel wasn´t present . But i loved here dress (new, right?) and it looked great with the cut steel tiara.

Madeleine looked great in last years nobel dress (re-worked) and the hair looked great but unfortunatly the diamonds got lost in the hair...

I´m very dissapointed by the Queen - i hate those yuki dresses! And i don´t think that pink and rubies work good together.

Thanks for the HQ pics of Victoria. Thanks to them I can fully appreciate her tiara. Lovely. Violet seems to be one of her colours.
And her face look so good. She was very elegant at this event. :flowers:

I agree about Victoria - she was the winner on both nights as far as I am concerned - beautiful, elegant, and stunning. (On the GREMB, a HQ photo of Victoria shows a better view of her brooch from tonight. I don't think it is new but I believe it is the first time worn by Vic. It is a cluster brooch with a center pearl surrounded by diamonds. I think it is the one that has been seen in pictures of Queen Viktoria, Princess of Baden. And I believe Queen Silvia has used it fairly often.)

I think that tonight's dress on Madeleine is a vast improvement over it's appearance last year with the shrug jacket. And I liked the diamond necklace bandeau in her hair as all. BTW, she and Jonas make a gorgeous couple in formal wear as well.

(BTW on the GREMB there is a closeup of Madde's necklace. The poster speculated that the pendant of her necklace is the brooch often wore by Silvia and which Madde wore on the choker at the Innocence Ball in 2003 <I think I saw someone call it the Victory Laurel Brooch is some posting somewhere>. I think I would agree with them because the overall shape of the brooch and the large pearl center are very close to the brooch.)

Last night's dress bothered me for some reason. I realized why today seeing it again. Sorry to all the people who loved it but with the black lace on the green satin (I DID love the color) all she was missing was some feathers in her hair and she would have been a saloon girl-hooker from the Old West.

I, too, am disappointed in the choices Queen Silvia made this year. I love the dress from the Danish wedding but this event is more formal than an afternoon wedding and requires richer fabric, deeper color, etc. I don't think there was a problem with the jewels, just the overall look was washed out in addition to the unfortunate hair mishap.

BUT TONIGHT!!! UUUGGGGHHH!!! If Yuki is such a great designer, why isn't anyone ELSE wearing this crap? For a woman of HM's age, she has a fantastic figure and is usually guite beautiful and elegant. Toning it down so that your newly-engaged daughters stand out is one thing. Wearing a shower robe is another. I think this is even worse than that ridiculous red bat-woman disaster from 2007. (It pains me to say this because I love me some Silvia )

On a good note, however, much as I miss Princess Lilian from this event, I'm glad to see Silvia continuing the theme of new jewelry this year by wearing the diamond stomacher-necklace that Lilian has worn so elegantly for many years. All of the searching I have done goes back to Queen Josefina as being the first one pictured wearing it. Does anyone have more info on this piece-provenance, etc.?

And no one is talking about her that much, but I have to mention Princess Christina. She really seems to have aged a lot in the last few years. I don't mind that her tiara gets lost in her poufy hair and she does appropriately wear a coverup jacket or shawl, but she seems to favor tank-style sheath dresses that make her body shape unattractive. I don't know if she needs a bigger size, different style, better undergarments, but it just doesn't work. Again I hate to say unflattering things about her because she seems like she would be a hoot at a party.

Finally, I hope Silvia recognizes that she is a vibrant, stylish woman and doesn't need to diminish herself for her daughters to shine and comes back next glammed-out, blinged-out and shows herself for the amazing queen that she is! :flowers:

I too loved Crown Princess Victoria's dress, especially the color. The flower was a bit unnecessary in my opinion (I prefer simple styles), and I wasn't too fond of it, but otherwise the dress was beautiful. Princess Madeleine's dress was beautiful as well, the lace parts were a nice bonus. I didn't like her hair style though, it looked a bit too casual for the occasion. Carl Philip looked handsome as always.
