The Six Button Tiara isn't great but I don't think it's a tragedy. The Six Button Tiara seems more like a tiara and less like the antenna-like Four Button Tiara. Madeleine just needs to experiment more, hair down with this tiara, different updos etc.

The Malaysian State Visit wasn't great but I loved the back of her hair.

She needs to wear it more up front IMO. When it's pushed back it seems like it's springing out of her head. Otherwise, she looked beautiful on both nights! Bravo, Madeleine! You managed to make it to both nights...quite a Nobel accomplishment, eh?:p

Good of you for finding those pics. I agree. Her hair looks nice there. A nice do there. Thank you for pointing that out.

I wonder why Madelaine always shows the base of the tiara's. IMO it is very ugly, especially the base of the (horrible) button tiara. Maybe without the base the six button thing would look acceptable, especially if the hair is a bit higher (I am not promoting Madelaine spraying her hair as outragously as Beatrix and Fabiola though, she could just pull it up).

I wish the Bernadottes would be more like the Oranjes who just breaking up tiaras to make brooches. those buttons would look lovely on the left shoulder of one of Madeleine's suits or dresses. but on her head...they just looks strange.

I dont much care for Lilian's tiara. it's also a bit "weird." but I do adore her royal blue dress though. looks wondeful.
Please not, I am still shocked by the horrible thing they did to the poor emerald tiara (putting 5 big pearls on it, which looks very strage). The only tiara which was broken up is the Amsterdam emerald parure, which is a crime and very ungratefull as Wilhelmina received it as a present from the city of Amsterdam. A poster on the Royal jewels MB recently showed that with some minor changes the gigantic and ugly design could actually look very good.

Now back to the swedes: to have less tiaras is not an option I guess, as the ladies have to have some things to play with, in order not to end up as poor Mathilde who only has one tiara. If they take away the base of the 6 button tiara and use the diamonds to put a nice design between the buttons, the thing can end up as a pretty tiara.

I never saw the button tiaras so I was wondering what everyone was groaning about. Actually I like the one in Madeleine's last pic.

BTW, if you're in Stockholm, you can go to the Stadshuskällaren restaurant where they hold the banquets and you can order any Nobel dinner from the first menu in 1901 to last year. Sometime next year, they'll put on the menu for this year's dinner. I had planned to go to Stockholm and was looking into it but I never ended up going.

Thank you. A great link too. Here is a page on the Nobel site about the menus:

Also look out for this cookbook.

" really? thaaaaaaaaaanx for letting me know"

You're welcome. :)

Now I'm hungry and it's not even lunchtime...:)

I spent about 2 hours looking at that link last night. Thanks ysbel. What I noticed is that food today is more 'complicated'. If you compare the meals from say 1901 and 2004, they're very different, and IMO, quite confusing. I guess modern technology has made it easier to create vastly different foods, and I guess with migration our palate has got used to different flavours. Being a vegan, I don’t think I could eat one meal off the menus. :p

The blue dress Madeleine wore looks a lot better with this necklace than that choker thing she's worn in the past. Finally a new neckalce for Madeleine. It looks like the one Princess Lilian wore for Nobel. Is it the same? If it is, then she just took Lilian's jewelry for the next day, same tiara and necklace. The up-do is better with this dress, it doesn't get in the way of the neck (chest?) line.

You're welcome, Danielle. :)

I don't know how comprehensive those menus from the early 1900s are. I don't think they listed all the side dishes back then so those meals were really filling. And I don't know what Beef Imperial is so it could be as fancy as some of the modern dishes. The modern style is to tell you exactly everything that is going to be on your plate. I was really surprised to see fried chicken on the menu, I guess that was haute cuisine back then. :p

But like you say, there's nothing for a vegan palette. I'm surprised they don't offer a vegetarian substitute. Most of the good restaurants here in the U.S. offer a vegetarian tasting menu in addition to their standard tasting menu.

Victoria looked great. Before, I used to wonder if she even liked dressing up for these events and other appearances, but her style has really improved. She even seems more confident, if that's even possible!

I can't complain about any of the tiaras because I can only dream of owning one . They're all works of art.
