The Nobel Prize 2013 - 2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Are they still planning to doing the Nobels, given the threat assessment? Would Victoria be there?

The seating order worked, but it would be nice to see the Prince Couple seated on stage though.

yeah, but then Madeleine & Chris would have to be on stage too, otherwise it wouldn't be fair. And then you get into it being crowded. It's easier if its just the four of them. Maybe, if Victoria & Daniel don't attend one year, then you can have the others on stage. but that's a conversation for if it ever happens.

Not sure why Carl Philip was not there? I mean Sofia is there. I dont think he had other commitments this day?

Maybe he had something with Bernadotte & Kylberg designing, or Cyan Racing Team...

The Nobel Foundation has published detailed information for the media:
About the Nobel Prize Award ceremony:
The seats closest to the stage are reserved primarily for the Laureates’ families, representatives of the prize-awarding institutions, members of the Swedish government and Riksdag (Parliament) and the diplomatic corps. Seated on the stage will be nearly 100 people. They are members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Nobel Assembly of Karolinska Institutet and the Swedish Academy, members of the Board of Directors of the Nobel Foundation and previous Laureates.

In front of them will sit the 2015 Laureates and members of Sweden’s Royal Family: H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf, H.M. Queen Silvia, H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel.
H.R.H. Prince Carl Philip and H.R.H. Princess Sofia as well as H.R.H. Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O’Neill will sit in the first row closest to the stage.

From the seating plan we can see that it is the same than last year, Victoria and Daniel sit behind the king and queen.

@Lady Finn - Who is escorting whom to the dinner? Have they set up the separate seating arrangements for the dinner yet?

The Nobel Foundation has on previous years published the seating plan of the Board of Honor at the banquet on 9th December. Whom the members of the royal family are escorting to the banquet hasn't been published before the banquet.

I assume Princess Christina and Tord Magnuson to attend the Nobel Prize Concert tomorrow in the Concert Hall. No one from the Royal Family is set to attend the event according to the calendar, and someone form the Royal Family or Princess Christina usually attend the concert.

Here is SVT's special website of the Nobel Week.
Nobel _ SVT.se

SVT2 shows the Nobel concert in two parts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Last year the concert was put some weeks later to be seen at the website of the Nobel Foundation.

So excited for this week this year and not just for the usual reasons either. Never in a Million Years did I think something from my Hometown would be in the limelight at the Nobels, but it is and WE ARE!!! I can't even begin to imagine the excitement that's building at the Neutrino Observatory in Sudbury. And we know someone who works there too. Well, more than know, I consider him my Honourary Brother, as the Son of good Family Friends, Sandy was always around helping out when he could...Anyway...

What a week so far. We overshot the total goal for our Annual Lions Christmas Telethon to raise money for Toys for Needy Kids in the area on Saturday. The goal was $270 Thousand and the tally when 11pm came was over $290 Thousand!! Now the excitement starts building for the Nobels.

A very Special December so far in Northeastern Ontario. :) :) :)

You were right, princess Christina and Tord Magnuson are at the concert. I hope that we get some photos.

Princess Christina and Tord Magnuson attend, and like always, also countess Bettina Bernadotte af Wisborg and her husband Philipp Haug.

Countess Bettina often attends the Nobels. I think it has to do with the fact that she hosts a Nobel related conferance in Konstans and on the Mainau once a year. Unfortunately she usually doesn't wear one of the family tiaras for the Nobels.

Yes, Countess Bettina Bernadotte has been the President of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings since October 2008. She was the member of the Council even before that. The 66th Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting (dedicated to physics) will be held in June 2016 and already 31 Laureates have confirmed their attendance.

I looked at the seating arrangement for the Nobel Banquet. I thought the royals are spread out more at the dinner table in the past. They seem more clustered together, although the siblings are not sitting with their spouses.

I found the seating on stage for the Nobels ceremony:

For the banquets in the recent past, the SRF did sit close and across from spouses. This year it's married ins on one side and blood royals on the other with the king and queen in the middle.

I am not sure I understand your point. It seems one plan is for the banquet and the other the stage seating. Am I missing something( wouldn't be the first time ).

Married couples are normally never seated together. However, I saw that at the head table one of the prize winners were seated with his spouse. The only reason that happens is usually because of some special need.

This year the king, Daniel, Carl Philip, Chris and princess Christina sit on the other side of the table. The queen, Victoria, Madeleine and Sofia on the other side. At the banquets the king and queen sit always in the middle, across each other. The queen has the Chairman of the Board of the Nobel Foundation on her other side, and the king has the wife of the Chairman of the Board of the Nobel Foundation on his other side. There isn't any rule that for instance Victoria and Daniel should every year sit across the table opposite to each other.
The seating plan is a little different every year. The main rule is that two men or two women don't sit beside each other, it is always a man, a woman, a man, a woman.
They try to place the Laureates beside a royal every year, but there are other things to be considered, for instance the languages people speak.

Congratulations to winners in the fields of physics, chemistry, and medicine!

Ms Alexievich is a usual try-hard. I see why the enlightened west finds her writings appealing.

two surprises for me. never expected the Connaught again for Vickan and definitely did not expect the kokoshnik for Maddie!

Wauw, they look all so lovely. Love the color Victoria is wearing! Compliments her baby bump. Sofia and Madeleine lovely as well.

I am stunned! Madeleine with the aquamarine kokoshnik comes as a real big surprise to me, but she looks very beautiful. As do the other ladies. Victoria wears purple and has an amethyst brooch at the back on her bun.

All the ladies are very beautiful!!! Surprise for me too the Madeleine with the
kokoshnik tiara!!

A huge, huge disappointment for me again - Victoria wears that awful Connaught Tiara again. Luckily her other jewellery is wonderful. And she looks great on her dress, the colour really suits her.
Madeleine looks good on that tiara, but grey isn't the best colour for her.
Sofia has her brooch at the sash very poorly placed. And her tiara is once again too high on her head.
I'm not so fond of queen Silvia's dress, but she is very regal as always.
