How many different Swedish Academy's formal gathering are there during the year? Do the royal family attentat them all?

Tomorrow is the formal gathering of the Swedish Academy. The royal family attends nowadays always to that. The family doesn't attend every year to the formal gathering of every academy, they attend at some every year. Because the king makes Royal Technology Mission trips and Daniel has the Prince Daniel Fellowship entrepreneurship program with the Royal Academy of the Engineering Sciences, some members of the royal family attend always to that gathering.
The Swedish Academy and Academy of Sciences are also responsible for the selection of Nobel Prize laureates in Literature, Physics, Chemistry, and the Prize in Economic Sciences.

This year the king and queen attended in January at the formal gathering of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry.
In March the king and queen attended at Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities' formal gathering.
Victoria and Daniel attended in October at the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences' formal gathering.
And in November the king and Victoria attended at Royal Swedish Academy of Music's formal gathering.

Thank you

Does other countries also have these type of acadamies with formal Catherines?

The Royal Famliy is presently attending the formal gathering of the Stock Exchange at the Borshuset in Stockholm
Svenskdam has an article about this

Victoria looks fabulous in this shade of red. It is the formal gathering of the Swedish Academy and it is at the Stock Exchange (=Börshuset). It is sad that this event wasn't shown this year on SVT. SVT told at their website, that the Swedish Academy didn't want the event to be shown on TV this year.

There is a dinner after the formal gathering. The king, queen, Victoria and Daniel attend at the dinner according to the royal calendar.

Great! Madeleine seemed to beam with hapiness! Victoria was very elegant too!

I thought everyone looked quite polished, but is it me of the king has gained few pounds? ;-)

Anyway, the most elegant was Victoria IMO... the queen also but her looked was the same as ever...

Some one needs to remind these people that the event is about the accedemy

Yes, it is sad how the tabloids handle the royal family's work events. It is always about the clothes or who stole the show, hardly ever the headline is about something of their work. This formal gathering is a great ceremonial event, I have enjoyed while watching it during the last years when it was shown in SVT and I could have watched it here in Finland. The Academy does a fine work.

Also the finnish evening press is all about clothes: Who of the princesses represented as most attractive?

The candle service was very beautiful!

Lovely event.
I also saw that Carl Philip was listed as attending but did not go...hmm

Both Expressen and Aftonbladet write about the queen's tears.
Margareta Thorgren from the press department says that the queen was very moved. The king and queen thought it was very emotional. The speeches, the hymns and the music made it a very dignified ceremony, a very sentimental and nice service. The solemn ceremony put much thought into motion. It touched both the King and Queen and the Crown Princess Couple very much, she says.
Thorgren didn't say anything about Carl Philip's absence.

What a beautiful & dignified Memorial Service.

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since this happened. :(

:previous: It is almost impossible to believe that 10 years have passed since that day. The Memorial Service seemed very solemn and deeply moving, especially the candal ceremony.

Just something that caught my eye and I wondered if anyone knew why the Crown Princess was seated before the King and Queen?

Maybe the king wanted that he and the queen sit in the middle and of course the crown princess sits beside him.
They have sat like that before, for instance in November.

:previous: Yes, the King is centre, directly facing the microphone, whereas in the Cathederal Victoria was on his right as was the front to the church, which meant her candle was lit first. Just a little different.

What a lovely moving service, no wonder the Queen was move to tears.
I wonder why CP didn't attend? I have to say unless he's ill and can't attend (which of course I hope he's not) it's very bad for him not to show up, either the Court have made a mistake in saying he will be there if it wasn't a definite or he has made a huge error by deciding not to attend such an event.

That wouldn't be the fisrt time his presence is announced without him actually being there...

Nothing surprises me about the Swedish royals and their press/media organisation

Me neither even though it's gotten a lot better lately. In the excerpts from the book written about a former member of court that's been published lately I get the impression that the press office is often trying to persuade the King about how they think things should be handled in a more modern and effective way but that he's one stubborn and impulsive guy to say the least.
