Today the king and Victoria visit the Migration Agency in Vänersborg and Uddevalla municipality at the Västra Götaland county. Governor Lars Bäckström hosts the visit. I have posted the schedule earlier to this thread.
In the morning they visit Restad gård in Vänersborg, it is the Migration Board's largest asylum accommodation in Sweden. They receive information about the activity and meet a Syrian family who got a residence permit recently. They visit also Kumlienskolan with activities for children waiting for a residence permit. The visit continues to Uddevalla municipality's adult education where newcomers learn Swedish through practical training.

From Expressen:
The king takes substantial stand on the refugee crisis in Europe: We all need to help people in need! There are no easy answers or solutions.
The King and Crown Princess Victoria are today in Vänersborg and Uddevalla to draw attention to the integration and migration issues. All morning they have been on Restad gård in Vänersborg and their asylum accommodation with over 1200 people. For hours they got to see how the Migration Agency helps the newly arrived, including Swedish education, and both the king and Victoria were deeply impressed:
- They do a fantastic job, said Victoria.
The King thought the same:
- They have not previously had the opportunity to be in a Swedish school so it's very basic skills that must be loaded and I think they do extremely well. I and the Crown Princess have seen here today promises good for the future. They have a glow in the eye and are extremely talented.
Victoria helped several students with their Swedish tasks. A little girl proudly told Victoria that her little sister is named Estelle.
- Wow, that's my daughter, too, Victoria laughed. How old is your sister? Estelle is a very pretty name.
County Governor Lars Bäckström:
- It is an extremely important signal to all these people here in when the country's head of state comes to visit. The King plays a major role. Both the crown princess and the king have a personal engagement with warmth for this. The king serves as a cohesive force.

The king and Victoria arrived to Karolinen, the adult education center in Uddevalla. At the center the students learn and practice swedish during their other studies.

At the live coverage the reporter tells that a guy wants to take a selfie with the Crown Princess, Säpo is quickly there to reject him. But Victoria says it is okay and a selfie is taken. The king and Victoria went to a bus and talked with people who educate themselves as bus drivers. The king had joked and asked why the students should learn Swedish as at the bus a sign states that a driver may not talk during the journey. The king and Victoria saw the students repairing cars and welding. They visited a bicycle workshop and a carpenter workshop.

From Hell to Heaven. The people living in asylum accommodation at Restad Gård have made a trip to an idyllic security right now, and here King Carl Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria heard laughing children and children who sang.
They looked to African women who nagged with Swedish, they met a Syrian family who just received a residence permit, they rejoiced children from a variety of countries who together sang "What would life be without children" and got to small talk with students in a automotive and welding training.
- I didn't have so much fun when I was at school, King said after one of the classroom visits.
Crown Princess Victoria turned to one of the groups and introduced herself.
- My name is Victoria, what's your name? she said, and turned to Mariam Hanud, an Eritrean who has been in Sweden for a month.
- This is my dad, the crown princess continued and patted the king on his shoulder which made Mariam show thumbs up.

A royal visit, as to Restad Gård, is pretty hard managed. But when Minnie, 8, and Yocif, 10, Shaquora wanted to hand over a gift to Victoria the SÄPO's hearts melted, and they were released ahead.
- We had made a heart with our names on, and Victoria's, told Minnie.
Victoria thanked and got the kids to turn around so that it became better photos. And the king asked the photographers to send some photos to the children's parents.

It's a good thing for them to visit.

That jacket really is to tight for Crown Princess Victoria.

The King and Crown Princess are engaged in the biggest humanitarian crisis that we have had in decades and someone is concerned about her jacket.

I thought that this visit was very interesting and it was great to see the king and Victoria so involved with the people they met. According to Margareta Thorgren, the initiative to this visit came from the king himself.

Aftonbladet has a rather long video, where they show parts of the visit, then some royal experts talk about what this visit means and then some asylum seekers who met the king and Victoria are interviewed (that starts at 11.19), they speak english. Also Aftonbladet's reporter who was with at the visit, is interviewed.

It is nice to see the press coverage of this visit. I don't think many people realize the involvement in humanitarian issues the Swedish royal family has. Their involvement both personally and with money in the aftermath of the tragic tsumani in Thailand to get the local people back on their feet. The King has been very active in the international scouting his whole life which brings youngsters into scouting from all levels of society. The Queen's involvement with child and elderly issue is more well known. By speaking up and by speaking out the issues remain on the front pages and are not forgotten.

That's a wonderful photo. Victoria looks genuinely happy that the man stopped and asked for a selfie. She seems to be a very warm and friendly person, I like her a lot. I loved the photos from this visit, and it's thoughtful that she visited given the current refugee crisis.

I agree. :flowers: It's a very appealing photograph. She is totally relaxed with a fan. Very sweet.

The king and crown princess Victoria attended today at the meeting of Council of State (that is how it is now called at the english version of the calendar, previously it was Cabinet briefing).
At the meeting each minister informs the king and the crown princess about political initiatives, reports and pending legislation in their respective ministries and answers questions from the King.

She looks completely at ease with it. :flowers:
And for all of the above reasons, that seems to be the biggest difference between European Royal Houses.

Victoria and Daniel seem to be very open and spontaneous, comfortable in the knowledge that their security is unobtrusive but efficient. Even Carl Philip is relaxing with Sofia by his side. The younger royals have a much more comfortable relationship with the media, whether it's just that they try to ensure their schedules are promulgated to enable maximum coverage or just because they are young and reasonably good looking is debatable.

Now that's not saying a whole lot considering the absolute debacle with media and Madeleine and Chris. But, compared with the PR coming out of the BRF PR offices it's huge. If they see the media as the enemy they hide it well, except for Madeleine and Chris who seemed to be crushed by it.

Looking at Harry's Wellchild engagement, he was everything and more that they needed but leaving a Club at the end of an evening seeming more than a little tense, something the media were quick to imply was because he was "worse for wear" and "bleary eyed", a situation that seemed to plague Carl Philip before his relationship with Sofia was accepted with it's ensuing engagement and marriage.

So basically, the BRF need better PR and their younger members need a few specialised courses in handling them other than resorting to pouting, childishly ignoring them, or getting angry and using rude biological signs.

This has been changed. According to the calendar the queen attends with the king instead of Victoria. It is a very important conference, so maybe they changed the queen to attend because of that. Or maybe they decided that since Victoria has work events tomorrow and on Wednesday and on Thursday a trip to Luxembourg and then the trip to Peru and Colombia, she will not attend today.

Not really new I'm afraid, it has been known for a week or so. The Treasury at the Royal Palace is also closed and the Court is warning for long queues in conjunction with security controls at the entrance to the Palace.

How long the areas will be closed is not clear.
- It is a temporary measure, but I can not say if it will be for a longer period or if it is changed during the weekend. Our safety is in constant contact with the Security Service and ensures the safety like other organizations when changes occur in the security situation, says Margareta Thorgren.

The Drottningholm Palace park is open, but the parts of the palace open for the public have been chosen to be closed at the moment. The reason is that the Drottningholm Palace is the royal couple's private home, says Margareta Thorgren to Svensk Damtidning.
