I also think that she prefered not to participate so soon after her grand-aunt's death when she didn't had to.

Perhaps she also spent time with her bachelorette party guests that she Victoria left behind so suddenly. The party was to last for three days so they would normally have returned on Sunday or Monday.

I would guess that Madeleine is still in Sweden, but as the guest list and protocol for state visits are set well in advance the royal court doesn't want to make changes in the last minute. I don't see a reason for Madeleine to make two transatlantic flights in less than five days if it's not necessary.

Yes, it it she official Facebook page of H.R.H. princess Madeleine of Sweden. She posts there photos and articles of her work at the World Childhood Foundation and about her life.

I read that it was said at the swedish radio, that the president had wanted that the flags, also the turkish ones, were at half-mast when they arrived to the Royal Palace, as of respect towards princess Lilian and the royal family. It was planned that the flags would have put up before the arrival ceremony started.
From the president's website, a story about the whole visit.

Some macho attitude or words could be expected from him, in my view.
I remember at the time of his election there were discussions at to whether he is a moderate or hard muslim.
There must be a highly political agenda behind these visits; they also went to the Netherlands, and Denmark (?) I think. Admission into the EU, I guess...
