thanks for this :flowers:
so if I understand correctly, Carl Philip got a "higher" order than the Queen and Daniel?

:previous: No. Two different orders, but not a matter of 'higher'.

The order of merit is a military honor. It is presented to foreigners who have served in the military. Both the king and his son have served in the armed forces, so have been awarded the military order. There are five ranks of this order.

The Queen and Prince Daniel have not served in the military. So they have been awarded the civilian honor instead. The O'Higgins is granted to civilians who have not served in the military, for their work in fields of arts, sciences and education. I know Daniel was part of the conscription process in Sweden, but it seems that wasn't considered enough military service for the other order.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't think of that as a possibility, and didn't know whether a order's military status or not was relevant for awarding them to head of states or members of royal families.

I think its great Victoria attended the day time events both days :flowers: I am not surprised she opted to spend the evenings with her kids, even if missed seeing her in the tiara.

And definitely great to see Sofia make an appearance so soon

I was just about to post that. I did some digging and Letizia does have the order of merit from Chile (and i dont think any military service)

Yes it seems so. I find it very strange actually.

That is very odd. It is almost like the Chileans mistook Carl Philip for the Crown Prince of Sweden, but, obviously, they wouldn't make that mistake.

At the luncheon Victoria was wearing a blue pin similar to Carl Philip, and Daniel was wearing a pin similar in style but in red. Were they tied to the Chilean orders?

That is the bâton of the Order, a miniature to be worn on the lapels.

On this picture you see a sash and breast star, to be worn with grand gala ánd a bâton, to be worn on a daily suit.

Thanks for the info. When Silvia came to the luncheon, she wore the red pin. I noticed the royals by blood have the blue pin and the married in's have the red one.
