Princess Margaretha celebrates today her 85th birthday.
- Yes, the king with family congratulates the princess, but it is entirely private, says Margareta Thorgren to Svensk Damtidning.
- Of course, it's a big day for the king's oldest sister, and congratulations are made in many ways.
But the birthday child is not in Sweden?
- No, the princess has chosen to stay at home, in England.

Sounds as if it is mostly Birgitta who wants to have a party. Margaretha seems less interested in a birthday celebration...

The Corona crisis hits Europe hard. The situation is bad in England, where princess Margaretha lives.
But according to Margareta Thorgren, princess Margaretha herself is in good condition. The king has contacted his eldest sister to check the situation.
- All is well and the siblings have continuous contact. Especially now in these times, says Margareta Thorgren.

The corona virus has hit Britain hard.
In the middle of the crisis lives the king's sister, Princess Margaretha. She has her home outside Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, England and has been living alone since her husband John Ambler died in 2008.
Margaretha very rarely participates in royal festivals and events. The last time we saw her in Sweden was at Princess Adrienne's baptism two years ago. And now, during the corona crisis, she has of course kept an even lower profile.
But now sister Birgitta tells how the oldest of the Haga Princesses is doing.
How is Princess Margaretha?
- We have all had difficulties with the coronavirus. But it is important to follow the rules. I have not talked to her in a week but I know that she is fine, says Birgitta in an interview with Svensk Damtidning.

Svensk Damtidning seems to have Princess Birgitta on their speed dial and she's surprisingly happy to talk with them.

Svensk Damtidning speculates how Brexit affects princess Margaretha. She has lived in England for 56 years and since 1965 she has been registered as an emigrant to England. The focal point is her citizenship. SD asked it from Margareta Thorgren, she said that princess Margaretha probably has dual citizenship, both Swedish and British.
"The British government has not stated that they will limit the possibility of dual citizenship after Brexit", the Swedish embassy in London states.

Princess Margaretha celebrates today her 88th birthday.
Svensk Damtidning called princess Birgitta, who told that she celebrated Margaretha today by calling her and congratulating her in the morning and everything was just fine, Margaretha was so cheerful and happy. Birgitta tells also that Margaretha has of course also been celebrated by her family, although she was actually "pre-celebrated" already at the weekend, because it was difficult to get together with the children and grandchildren otherwise. They are busy during the week with their jobs and schools. Birgitta tells that she and Margaretha haven't been able to meet at all since the pandemic, they have to wait and see, there will be better times.
