I have seen the King of Sweden as a pretty easygoing man with a good laugh. He can react quite stingy on too pushy or too demanding press. When he appears outside with his glamorous spouse and beautiful daughters, the yelling and the screaming from paparazzi to obtain pictures is sometimes unbelievable.
At the same time King Carl XVI Gustaf lost his father at the age of one and was, together with uncle Prince Bertil, the only successors, feeling the full weight of the monarchy upon him. He was largely raised by his very serious and punctual grandfather King Gustaf VI Adolf. These circumstances forms a character.
Here King Carl XVI Gustaf, head of state, officially received another head of state. He did it with égards and all attention was on the Belgian guests. His daughter and son-in-law have picked up and escorted the royal guests to the palace. That was it. The King is not of the hugging and kissing type and prefers to show his affections in private. I think that is the man's good right.
