It can be, but also she is the one that has had an easier life and has had more freedom. She was the median, neither the inheritor nor first-born and therefore always she has been freer and they have left her to do what has wanted.
She left Madrid to be going to live through Barcelona in an immense flat together with her cousin Alexia. A city where her life is much freer, and it does not worry what she does.
Madrid is the political, economic and social center, where there is most of the press and of the paparazzi. And Madrid and Barcelona are two very different cities in the shape of life. Madrid is the city of the rumors, where the press is and there is a paparazzi to every step. She is left to come out in photographs with her children the special days ... birthday, aniverarios, day of the father ... but the photographers are to a prudential distance without being a nuisance. Nothing that to see with what it happened another day to the Infanta Elena who was going out with the children of the college and had a camera chasing her for the street putting the camera in the face of the children. In Madrid there is many competition between the press, and the press abuses ... it does not happen in Barcelona.
She in Barcelona takes a freer, independent life ... a life that her brother and sister will never be able to take.
Besides, she is the one that has fewer obligations. Only she has to come to her official acts occasionally and gets money of the State for it .... later she returns to her life.
The Infanta Elena has been very bad-treated by the press, and especially her husband, including jeers on his disease. To the Prince they have chased all his life judging his life, his friends, his couples; now all kinds of barbarities invents and publishes on his wife and his daughter newborn .
The Infanta Cristina has been lucky and always she has been more to the margin.
The only thing and very recent Iñaki's topic and his business. Be afraid that it has been publicized by a political question, since it was a question of public money, and therefore it is not anything of the press but a more serious topic.

Well lula, in that I agree with you but what makes me curious is why people like Peñafiel never rant about her, she's like loved for the media and no one talks badly about her

I do not want to tell you what Peñafiel writes on Iñaki's business, and the little that he likes that the Infanta has married a sportsman.
But how I have said the Infanta always has been freer to do her life. The press is in Madrid, she lives in Barcelona. She does not have problems with the press because she lives removed from the press; if they were chasing her and criticizing her the whole day it would be different. A few months ago it was said that she had got angry very much with the photos of her children in pajamas. With this topic they criticized her enough, because it seemed to nobody to be normal that she was taking the grandsons of the Kings in pajamas for the street.

Peñafiel is very hard on Jaime, Felipe, Elena, Iñaki, Juan Carlos but almost never never never messes up with the Queen and Cristina, that's what makes me curious because he cannot wait to jump on the other's mistakes but the only two bad things I heard from him about Cristina was:
1. She shouldn't have married an sportsman
2. Her wedding dress shouldn't have left her shoulders bare
Nothing ever again from this vulture, I mean journalist :(

I think he did mess up with the Queen, I've read somewhere that they simply hate each other. The reson may be the fact that after the death of Peñafiel's daughter only the King sent him words of condolence, so the journalist was very angry with her and critisize her all the time. Nowadays it looks like he focuses on younger generation, as it seems to be more interesting for readers. Anyway, he must be conscious of respect that Spaniards have for the reigning couple:)

If I understand well quiet the articles from digital press are very bad informed and all as I can read about it seem reinforce me in this direction.
The problem is that this kind of press isvery often whithout signature and carry on regardless the elementary respect of the legislastion about privacy.
Besides all as we can see, they are using as reference fo their article a sentence or one single fact wich is not relevant but wich is the only source of the writter. It's a true intellectual dishonesty.

The whole Royal Family attended last Thursday the dinner that the Duchess of Alba offered on the occasion of her eightieth birthday. The King and Queen, the Princes of Asturias and the Dukes of Lugo and Palma were the most illustrious guests of this celebration, which congregated in the palace of Liria (Cayetana de Alba’s residence in Madrid) many friends of the Duchess. Around 9 o’clock in the evening, Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía arrived, followed by theur children, Prince Felipe with his wife, Doña Letizia, and Infantas Elena and Cristina with their respective husbands.
At the entrance of the residence, the Duchess waited for them so to personally receive all the guests. All the family met around the matriarch, who offered an exquisite dinner consisting of vegetable flanes, lobster with rice and bombita of chocolate, all it accompanied by white wine of Milmanda and Vega Sicilia.

Last Thursday, he Duchess of Alba celebrated her 80th birthday, by offering a select celebration in the palace of Liria (her Madrilenian residence), attended by a long list of guests, headed by the King and Queen.
Cayetana did not want Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía to miss her birthday (which will be next March 28th) and advanced the celebration for a couple of days, since the next week the Kings will be in France for an official visit.
The bows between the Royal House and the one of Alba have been very strong for centuries and the birthday dinner of the woman with more nobility titles in the world was attended, besides the King and Queen, by the Princes of Asturias and the Dukes of Lugo and Palma.
María del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart (the complete name of the Duchess of Alba) also was surrounded by her six children - Carlos, Alfonso, Jacobo, Fernando, Cayetano and Eugenia -, who co-hosted the gala dinner.
The fine rain that fell over Madrid lasy Thursday night did not prevent numerous cameras and photographers to concentrate at the door of the palace of Liria to await the guests.
The Duchess offered her guests a menu composed of appetizer, vegetables’ flan, lobster accompanied by American sauce rice and chocolate cake, for dessert.
After the dinner, the Kings were the first guests leaving the palace of Liria, along with the Princes of Asturias and the Dukes of Palma. On the other hand, the Dukes of Lugo were the last ones leaving the celebration and the count of Salvatierra was the one in charge to accompany them to the door.
For Cayetana the night would have been perfect if the celebration was attended by her childhood friend, Elisabeth of Windsor, Queen of England, who also turns 80 years old next month.

Thanks for the translations & photos, Elsa!
It's nice to see the whole family out & about... seems like they all wore black clothes, but it could just be the coats.
It would be great to see close ups pictures. Letizia seems to be wearing 'sparkling' earings.

That's correct!
He just "forget" the Queen, but there are a lot of things that he wrote about the Queen.

It seems to be due to the shadows. In the photo printed by ABC, we can see that Doña Sofia was wearing green:

The Duchess of Alba blew to the candles of her birthday with the Royal Family
...
The relation of the Kings with the Duchess of Alba comes from length, although the sovereigns took more than twenty years without stepping on the Palace of Liria. Nevertheless, she was the own princess of Asturias the one that caused the encounter. According to the magazine Hello, Don Juan Carlos, in one recent conversation, commented to him to Cayetana that Letizia had a great interest in "knowing Liria and meeting with her". And thus it was.

The infanta Leonor will have already this year a palm from Elche for the Palm Sunday
Tomorrow there are sent also those of the rest of the Royal Family and the Pope Benedicto XVI
Craftsmen's Families realize the municipal orders deste the XVIIIth century
(...)
Between the works, the sending emphasizes the Royal Family and the Pope, as every year, though with an out-standing innovation: in this occasion they will order a palm the small Leonor with the image of the Virgin. Likewise, also they will do the first gift to the Pope Benedicto XVI. With Joseph Ratzinger they are already three the supreme pontiffs whom the family Serrano has been ordering every year their palms. His branch and that of Dona Sofía they reach three meters of height and are valued for 1.800 Euros each one.
The King and the Prince will receive a smooth palm of three meters and a half, and that of the Queen, curled, it stands out for taking the image of the Virgin of the Asuncion, a wreath and ultimately a small cross.
(...)
Las Palmas that will be sent the Pope (to the left side) and to the Queen.

The Pope will meet with the Kings during its trip to Valencia in the occasion of the V Encounter of the Families the World-wide
... Encounter of the Families will be developed between days 1 and 9 of July, although the culminating acts will take place the weekend of days 8 and 9, when Benedicto XVI a speech will carry out individual acts - before the travelling ones, Saturday, and a great mass of closing, the average Sunday to which the attendance of around million is expected and of people.
During its stay by day and means in the Valencian capital, Benedicto XVI will meet with the Kings - the attendance of the Royal Family to the complete one in the central acts is predicted, in addition to the presence of national and autonomic authorities and will pronounce its messages to the travelling ones in hour strips almost very millimetrically designed to avoid the hard habitual meteorological inclemencies at this summery time.

So we'll see the King and Cristina in Holy Monday or after that?
I want to see Irene, Leonor, Juan, Froilan, Pablo, Victoria and Miguel!
And of course more of the awesome couple of the Dukes of Palma
