1. Here is a picture of Juan Carlos arriving. The caption says he is with the First Lady of Portugal.

2. Juan Carlos, First Lady of Portugal, Jamie, Elena, Pilar, and Inaki.

Yes, she's Maria José Ritta, wife of the Portuguese President, Jorge Sampaio. The Laureus World Sports Awards took place in Portugal, at Casino Estoril, for the second time in a row.

Hey Elsa, did you got to see any of them?;)

I was not invited to the gala (what a pitty). :p

Anyway, I saw them live on T.V..

Apparently, Cristina also went to Lisbon with Iñaki, but (perhaps due to the pregnancy?) she didn't go to the Laureus in Estoril.

From La Voz de Galicia

Thanks for the photos, Ana!

Here's an article from ABC, about this parade on the Spanish Army Day:

http://www.abc.es/abc/pg050529/actualidad/nacional/nacional/200505/29/reyes_fuerzas_armadas_desfile.asp

King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, along with the Princes of Asturias, presided today, at the Marine Sidewalk of A Coruña, over the Spanish Army Day; an institutional act that was not celebrated in this city since 1985. Almost a thousand of military staff participated in the parade, which was attended by 55000 people, according to the Local Police. This year, the parade paid a "special tribute" to the sea and its people.

From Getty. I think the way Letizia is smiling at Felipe in the first one is really sweet!

http://actualidad.terra.es/nacional/articulo/reyes_dia_fuerzas_armadas_coruna_324018.htm

The presence of Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofia (who was dressed in a light pink outfit) and of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia (dressed in a pale blue outfit) was welcomed with cheers and applauses by almost 70000 people, who went to La Coruña in order to watch the parade of the three ranks of the armies, as well as the exhibitions made at the beach of Orzán.

Once all the acts were finished, there was a reception hosted at the Municipal Palace of Maria Pita, which was attended by the Kings and the Princes de Asturias. The City Hall of La Corunna presented the King and Queen with a book about the trips made by Isabel II in Castile, Leon, Asturias and Galicia, whereas to the Princes of Asturias it was offered a set made in embroiders of Camariñas.

During the reception, José Bono thanked for the presence of the King and Queen, as he spoke of Spain as a "common and indivisible mother country of all the Spaniards" and, together with the attending authorities, he tosted the King, Spain, the Constitution, the Armies, the Navy, Coruña and Galicia, whereas Don Juan Carlos toasted Spain.

This way was concluded the military celebration, which is celebrated every year around the day of San Fernando.

King Juan Carlos of Spain, Queen Sofia, Prince Felipe and his wife Princess Letizia preside the parade on the Spanish Army Day 29 May 2005, in Coruna, northwestern Spain.

Nice pictures! Letizia looks so happy, radiant and glowing in these pictures and the ones at the book fair. The pregnancy seems to be agreeing with her more these days it seems.

Is this an event that usually Elena and Cristina and their husbands attend too? I recall some military parade that the King's daughters and their husbands attend, too. But it seems that there are several military-related events in Spain I can't keep track of them.

The Infants usually go to the Day of the National Celebration the 12 of October, but not to the Day of the Armed Forces. In addition, Infant Cristina this on the verge of having her son

the sex of her baby has been announced?

No, never they announce it until the baby is born. If beams case to the rumors it seems that they incline more for a bay, but already we will see.

Thank you lula. I remembered that the Infantas do go to at least one of the military events, but could not remember which one.
