Spain could also be represented by the kings at the Pope's Funerals. The entire royal family received the news with profound grief.
The SRF has maintaned a really nice and close relationship with John Paul II during the years of his pontiff. The Pope visited Spain five times, every time accompanied in numerous engagements by the Royal Family.
According to a spokesperso for La Zarzuela, until the Vatican releases the protocol details regarding the funerals, the Royal House will not the diclose which members of the family will be at the funeral.

Thank you Marezdote & Agm for providing this pictures and information. It was actually the first time I got to hear Queen Sofía speaking. She has a really strong voice, much like Letizia's

This is from an article from elmundo.es dealing with world leaders reactions to the death of the Pope.

Thanks for being on top of things, Marezdote and Agm!

Here's an article from ABC:

http://www.abc.es/abc/pg050403/actua...ntraciones.asp

Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía along with the Princes of Asturias, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia, transmitted today to the nuncio of the Vatican in Spain, the archbishop Manuel Monteiro de Castro, their condolences for the death of Pope John Paul II, of whom the monarch emphasized that all the Spaniards have "a very important memory".

At the 7:55 p.m., the King and Queen and the Princes arrived at the Apostolic Nunciature and, after greeting the nuncio, who the monarch embraced affectionately, they signed the book of condolences for the death of the Pontiff. Dressed in rigorous mourning, the Kings and the Princes chatted with the apostolic nuncio during about 40 minutes. The king, when coming out of the Nunciature, emphasized the relation that John Paul II had with Spain, and stressed that the Spaniards will keep "a very important memory" of the Pontiff. "We wait now for a new Pope", he added.

On the other hand, the Queen emphasized how he was "an universal personage".

The Prince emphasized that the Pope has carried out "26 years of untiring work" and that he was the Pontiff of his generation. "He has really been the Pope of our generation, so we very specially like him. For us, his legacy is something very important and it is going to make us reflect very much", said Don Felipe de Borbón.

The apostolic nuncio explained that the Kings and the Princes showed the proximity towards John Paul II, and referred that the Queen was very affected by the loss.

Monteiro de Castro said how the monarchs emphasized the "proximity” that the decease of the Pope caused to them and how they expressed their interest for the encyclicals of Karol Wojtyla. The nuncio emphasized that it was "a close conversation" and that the Kings and the Princes showed their admiration towards the supreme Pontiff.

The visit of the Kings and Princes closed a day in which the apostolic nuncio received the visit of an important number of political authorities, as well as of more than a thousand of Catholics, who signed in the book of condolences.

From casareal.es

Apparently, the Princes, who were the ones to be invited to the wedding, have declined the invitation.
