It is a charitable act of collection of money at that every year the women of the Royal Family preside in Madrid. Different tables of collection are placed in important points of the city. The Princess already presided at a table of collection together with the Queen in her first year as Princess of Asturias, later for her pregnancies she has not returned to be present in this act.

Princesa de Asturias, reina en Oviedo
Princess of Asturias, queen in Oviedo
Letizia Ortiz will receive the title of favourite daughter on Wednesday, at eight o'clock in the afternoon, in the municipal lounge of plenary sessions
It is of supposing that when on Wednesday she receives one of the most important distinctions that grants the Town hall, her recognition as favorite daughter of Oviedo, they will turn at the head of the Princess of Asturias images of her infancy and her adolescence, a lost paradise that, in her recollection, always will be tied to her city. Letizia Ortiz returns to Oviedo turned into wife of the inheritor of the Wreath and mother of two girls who will continue the Bourbon dynasty, something unimaginable for the youngster who with 15 years left her natal city and one saw obliged, following her parents, to tackling a new life in Madrid.
The delivery of the title of favorite daughter of Oviedo will carry out the Princess of Asturias in the course of an institutional act that will be celebrated in the lounge of plenary sessions of the Town hall, on Wednesday at eight o'clock in the afternoon. Will be the first appointment in the tight agenda of don Felipe and dona Letizia during their visit to preside at the ceremony of delivery of the prizes " Prince of Asturias ".
...
Su boda con Felipe de Borbón le hizo reencontrarse con su tierra natal
Her wedding with Felipe de Borbón made her meet again with her
natal land
El acto se celebrará en el mismo lugar en el que su esposo fue nombrado alcalde honorario
The act will be celebrated in the same place in which her husband was nominated an honorary mayor
The Princess of Asturias will receive the title of favorite daughter of Oviedo in the same place in which her husband was nominated an honorary mayor of the city, in 1988 and being a president of the Corporation the Socialist Antonio Masip: the lounge of plenary sessions of the Town hall.

the title reads "the televisive speech of princess letizia". i think they were referring to the way she pronounced it quite like an anchorwoman. it is quite evident in her entonation, her way of looking at the public. the fact that she didn't have to stand up like felipe normally does made it as well quite alike. imo, i don't think it is necessarily bad. she just has a different style, conditioned by the fact she was a journalist before.
i find it quite shameful that 20 minutos decides to put up a video in which in the end you can hear reporters who took photos and filmed saying "how modern does she look with those shoes! yes, obviously, since she doesn't have to pay for them" and other quite cheeky comments. they could at least have ommitted the sound in that part of the video.

i think it's obvious the attention will be focused on letizia, as it's the first time she presides one of the tables by herself.

Carlota, two things.
The congress was on " Infancy and television ", so it of television it is for the own topic of the congress. On the tone of her speech, she always is going to have an anchorwoman's tone because her voice has been educated this way, and it is difficult to change it totally. Nonetheless, now that she does it with more tranquility, demonstrates that it is the best of the Royal House speaking publicly. She knows how to speak, where to stop, does the most pleasant and nearby speech, and it does that the message comes better.
On other commentaries in the video, it does not surprise me, 20 minutes it is a free newspaper and they like to give a yellow touch to their news. They like these things.

Referring to the voice of Princess Letizia:
I think she has a very beautiful voice and a very good entonation, the best of all the members of the RF better even than Prince Felipe. I dont find any problem about her way she speak in public.

i'm not saying it's bad. in fact, i liked it, because it's certainly different to the way the other members speak. i can't wait to see her pronouncing more speeches and seeing how she develops in the field.
what caught my attention the most were the comments of the journalists. i respect freedom of speech though, but perhaps it looks a bit unprofessional to see a video where the cameramen are pronouncing their beliefs, just as it would be unprofessional for them to speak about what they are going to eat for lunch.

I think this event it has everything to do with her: First because it is television, her latest work before beeing married and then because we are speaking about children and Leo is almouts two years, but this time she must like to wacht a bit television (maybe Noddy...) so we must supervise our own kids and not let them watch to mucht television!

Many thanks Paty for the bigger version of IPA's shots.
I can't say that I'm very impressive by the ton of the Princess of Asturias because I have already remark it a lot. But it's true, to hear her it's a true pleasure because prepared or not, she has a very beautiful voice. I'm not abble to judge all her intonations but only to listen them it's very pleasant and make me to want heard her more.

Thanks for the pics and the video Lula!
Letizia looks pretty in white and she has a beautiful voice. I don't like her shoes and the heels are too high. Why does she wear those extremely high heels also when Felipe is not there?

Funny, I had the opposite impression...from the video I thought she looked extremely nervous, looked like she was missing having Felipe by her side and from the way she read her speech she came across as lacking confidence...perhaps it was a bad idea to have her give her speech sitting down as I don´t think this is the best way to project yourself. Practice will make perfect, so hope she has a few more solo outings.
