It seems that the royal house is willing to do whatever is necessary to recover the image of King Juan Carlos. Queen Sofia is highly valued, and indirectly if she still very active in her role as queen, also enhances the role of Juan Carlos as king. They are willing to show that they are and will remain the king and queen.

Since the king returned to the activity, the agenda of the Prince of Asturias is poorer than it has been in years. And Princess Letizia is still keep in the background. It seems they do not want anything to distract the target.

It seems that there is a truce now between King and Felipe in terms of instrumentalizing the media against each other, the abdication topic had died down as well as casareal/King's allies feeding information to the press in order to badmouth the Asturias couple that filled the headlines to distract. But in terms of agenda, the Asturias are both kind of sidelined these days. Letizia has her odd event, mostly audiences, while King & especially Queen are bagging the high profile stuff. Even Elena works as much as Letizia these days.
 
Infanta Elena always has a series of fixed events at this time of year, so it seems that she has a lot of activity and the press praises her for it ... but that lasts a month, at the end of the year the number of events is becoming smaller.

Really at the end of the year the number of events is similar, is not the first time that they reduce the activity the Asturias have a month because they had too many acts, whilst they increase the activities of others who have less. In May last year the same thing happened.

I recall Infanta Elena having a lovely extended Christmas break that lasted almost 6 weeks until early February.Her activities have increased but I'd imagine she's making up for lost time and by the years end she'll be in and around the same as last year.

Princess Letizia will travel for the third time abroad alone, and will again visit the World Health Organization in Geneva.

She will attend on Tuesday a preparatory meeting for the International Conference on Nutrition (ICN-2), organized jointly by FAO and WHO, to be held in November in Rome

FAO confirms the presence of Princess Letizia in the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2) in November

Pope Francis will add his voice to the fight against hunger and malnutrition by addressing the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2) scheduled to take place from 19 to 21 November at FAO's headquarters in Rome.

Other heads of state and government, dignitaries and religious leaders have also been invited to ICN2, including UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Italian President Giorgio Napolitano President of Chile Michelle Bachelet, Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Spain's Princess of Asturias Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano.

they confirm that she has been invited, does this automatically mean that casareal allows her to attend ;)
 
It is an official note of the FAO, so in this case include the name suggests that the invitation has been accepted. And that would mean, finally, a change in the official role of the Princess.

If she has been invited directly from WHO / FAO, or has been the Spanish Government who has chosen her to represent the country ... is an event that Zarzuela can not say no.
