Diez Minutos has a special on Letizia called "Letizia, a year in our lives"

Letizia, un año in nuestras vidas - In Spanish

I'll post the text and pictures featured on the special. I hope the translation is ok.

Letizia, a year in our lives

We've seen her laugh, cry, love, cheer, look, and admire. From telling the news, she became the news, the face everyone searches for. She has learned fast which is her mission, because she has the best teacher, her husband.

01 & 02 - November, the prince already has a queen

Everything started on November 1st, 2003. Suddenly, at six o'clock in the evening, comes the news, it's official. Don Felipe announces his engagement with the anchorwoman Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano. The first image of the couplecomes two days later, at Zarzuela, where we are able to see an undeniable declaration of love. In November 6th, Felipe asks for her hand in marriage at the El Pardo and we're finally able to meet her whole family.

The First image of Felipe and Letizia as a couple

03 & 04 - December, her first official act

On December 6th, Letizia wore a skirt for the first time. (eligió falda por primera vez)

The first "official test" for Letizia comes with the Constitution's 25th anniversary. After that, we see one of the most candid images of the princess, the love she has for her grandparents.

05 & 06 - January, Asturias, beloved homeland
Don Felipe wanted that his first trip with his fiancee would be to Asturias, his principality and the homeland of the women he had fallen in love with. On his birthday, January 30th, the prince visited Covadonga and Oviedo with Letizia. A few days earlier we were able to see for ourselves that, between the Queen and the Princess there is something more than just a Mother and Daughter-in-law relationship. This happened on January 28th when, together with the queen, Felipe and Letizia went to the Royal Theatre to watch "Tosca".

07 & 08 - February, learning how to skii

The second month of the year marked the skii season, this is one of the favorite sports of the Royal Family. We were able to see the improvement of Letizia at it in Baqueira and en Candanchú. On the 11th, the princes, culture-lovers, opened together with the King, the Arco fair in Madrid. It was a great occasion, as almost all of them.

09 & 10 - March, the most bitter engagement

March 11th will be marked on History as a black day. Doña Letizia lived her worst journey as a member of the Royal Family. In the afternoon of the attack, she accompanied Don Felipe and the Queen on visits to the injured at the hospitals. The journalist showed herself pretty strong.

Some days later, at the Almudena, at the funeral for the victims, she wasn't able to restrain the tears.

01 - April, debuting as an aunt

During the 'Holy Week', Letizia debuted in Mallorca, the place where the Royal Family uses to spend their vacation. On Easter Sunday, she attended mass with everyone else at the Palma Cathedral. There we were able to see her first image with her four new nephews and niece. The couple has always shown a caring treatment towards their niece and nephews, including there Letizia's niece, Carla.

02; 03 & 04 - May, she already is Princess of Asturias

On May 22nd, Letizia was created Princess of Asturias. It was a wedding under water, but the rain wasn't able to dampen the couple's happiness. The week before, on May 14th, don Felipe's then fiancee charmed us all in Copenhague, during the wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark to Mary Donaldson. Her best ally was designer Lorenzo Caprille. It was a busy month, filled with engagements and trips. The newlywed couple started its honeymoon from Spain.

05 & 06 - June, Back to work

After a honeymoon that lasted almost a month, the princes came back home to start their engagements. Doña Letizia mesmerized Rome during her visit to pope Juan Pablo, II on June 27th. A day before they were in Ribadesella, Asturias celebrating Jesús Ortiz's wedding.

07 & 08 - July, a visit to their other principality, Viana

The princes of Asturias are also of Viana, Navarra. Their first act in Spain as husband and wife was to offer the awards that take their names in Navarra. July marked Letizia's debut with the Army as well, she accompanied Don Felipe at his visits to Zaragoza and Cádiz academies.

09 & 10 - August, the princess with the olympic Spaniards

The sports are something essential to the Royal Family. Although Letizia has tried to skii, she prefers to stay in other boat just watching the boat races that Felipe takes part. That happened during the 'King's Cup' in Mallorca, when we were able to see really cute images of Letizia with her nephews and niece. During a quick visit to Athens, Letizia cheered and suffered during the basketball game where Spain lost to the US.

Letizia also lived funny moments together with her niece Victoria Frederica during the King's Cup in Mallorca.

01 & 02 - September, hugging the saint

On September 18th, Letizia went for Caprille again and, one more time she mesmerized, this time in Segovia, at the wedding of Laura Ponte and Beltrán Gómez-Acebo, don Felipe's cousin. Four dayslater, the princes went to Santiago de Compsotela, where the Princess followed the tradition and 'hugged the saint'.

03 & 04 - October, conquering America

At the first days of the month the princes visited the EUA to know the situation of the Spanish language at the country. By the end of the month, the most important engagement to the Princess, her first 'Prince of Asturias Awards'

Spain’s Letizia metamorphoses from journalist to princess

Not sure whether this has been posted here, but here it is anyway ;)

Spain’s Letizia metamorphoses from journalist to princess
(DPA)

27 November 2004

MADRID - When Spain’s Crown Prince Felipe, 36, married former television news anchor Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano a half-year ago, Spaniards wondered how smoothly the divorced commoner would metamorphose into a princess.

So far Ortiz, 32, is seen as doing a good job, though giving up her freedom is undoubtedly not easy for her.

When the couple announced their engagement a year ago, Ortiz was known as an independent-minded and outspoken journalist who had covered the oil disaster caused by the tanker Prestige in 2002 and the Iraq war.

Letizia even stunned Spaniards by not allowing the future king to interrupt her in public. “Let me finish,” she told Felipe as the two spoke to the press.

Since then, however, the woman now known as the Princess of Asturias has been subjected to what columnist Lucia Mendez described as an “accelerated depersonalization process”.

“It is not a question of whether I like it or not,” Felipe’s father, King Juan Carlos, once said. “I was born for this. And since my childhood, my teachers have taught me to do things I do not like.”

Letizia has not received such training since childhood, but she is known to be ambitious, perfectionist and eager to please.

“I want to do what Spaniards want me to do,” she has reportedly said, and has clearly worked hard to fit into the royal mold.

Since the couple’s engagement, Letizia has been coached in protocol and history, has taken on royal hobbies such as hunting and sailing, and has accompanied Felipe in dozens of public appearances in Spain and abroad.

After a few initial gaffes such as reproaching a journalist for remarks about her high heels, she has focused on smiling, reaching out to the public and behaving with dignity.

The royal family has done its best to back the future queen, with Queen Sofia often at her side and palace officials carefully spacing her public appearances.

“With time, she will be more royal than the royals themselves,” fashion expert Carlos Garcia-Calvo said.

Criticism has focused on her wardrobe, which has earned her the nickname of “the new Jackie Kennedy”, but which fashion gurus berate as boring.

Royalty experts have also advised Letizia to watch her gestures, such as pointing with the index finger to emphasize a point, which they see as revealing an authoritarian attitude unsuitable for a princess.

Such flaws will probably be forgotten as soon as the Prince and Princess of Asturias finally announce the news the press is waiting for: that they are expecting an heir to the throne.

The constant pressure to get pregnant is said to annoy the princess, who would like the public to rather take note of the diligence with which she studies the background of every place she visits.

Nice pictures, but i dont think Letizia was dressed well for a lunch with a president. She would of looked more formal and well dressed for the occasion if she was in a skirt with a nice top and jacket. She looked like she was going for an opening.
