PRINCE FELIPE and PRINCES LETIZIA gave the James I awards in Valencia.
The city government and the foundation of adavanced studies of Valencia crested these awards in 1989, which include the categories of ECONOMICS, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION and NEW TECHNOLOGIES. The prize is of 75000 EUROS.

Thankx for the pictures.I really thought Letizia looked good in that skirt, i prefer them on her than the pencil cut skirts.

Yes it was, it showed the respect they feel for their people. Other could have just ran to the car, not bothering about for how many hours those people were standing there in the rain.

I just read in EuropaPress that they will in fact be in Belgrade, Serbia on Monday. It looks to be just a day trip to inaugurate the new Instituto Cervantes. They will be joined by the President of Serbia for the inauguration.

Oh, thank you for the news - my office happens to be just a few meters from the building where new Instituto de Cervantes is located, and I'll do my best to get some impressions 'in vivo' of this lovely couple. :)
By the way, it is surprising that Europa Press made such an elementary mistake regarding official title of one country's president - Mr. Svetozar Marovich is not the president of Serbia (that happens to be Mr. Boris Tadich), Mr. Marovich is president of federation - Serbia and Montenegro.

I read a great anecdote from today's visit to Granada (via EuropaPress). Before the awards ceremony, they visited an exhibition on the catholic Kings and Granada. Among the many people who waited around to greet them was a young man with DownSyndrome. He was with his mother. Apparently he has a really big crush on Princess Letizia, so his mother asled the security guys if he couldn't just have a chance to greet her. The guard said ok and took the young man and his mother in to meet Felipe and Letizia. Not at all shy, he told her she is the most beautiful and the very best. I thought that was a cute story.
The article also mentioned that the historian who gave them the tour of the exhibition was impressed with their knowledge of history, saying to reporters that "they asked very profound questions, nothing banal."
At the awards ceremony the poet read three of his poems--one of which he dedicated to Princess Letizia.

Lucys - Thank you so much for the recent pictures and commentary! I have really enjoyed both. OK, here is a somewhat trite question about something I have noticed -- is it just the pictures we are seeing, or do they give fewer affectionate glances and touches to one another than they did earlier in the Fall? It seems to me they do. I wonder if they want to appear more 'professional' but I also get concerned Letizia is burned out with this lifestyle. I think her facial expressions and body language show stress. Even though they surely have great support from their staff, to do a high profile job well takes an inordinate amount of work and these two work hard! Any ideas?

It's being registered in Serbia and Montenegro a remarkable interest for the Spanish language and culture. Several universities have Departments of Hispanic Philology and the number of students, both of university and academies, keeps increasing. Last year, Spanish began being taught in the public schools of the Federation.
