It has been pointed out (at nauseum, I might add) that the decision for Letizia to accompany Felipe is part of the agenda set out by the Spanish royal court. Sofia accompanied Juan Carlos in the early days of their courtship, too.

Each royal court has their own protcols, and it isn't fair to compare them just as it isn't fair to compare any of the royal ladies.

The Danish royal court doesn't seem to have a problem and even must approve of Mary posing for numerous magazines, which would absolutely be ver botem with the Spanish royal court.

It's different practices for different royal courts; that Letizia isn't out on her own yet doesn't mean that she is any less of a princess than Mary or Maxima or Mathilde.

Alexandria is right - think about our own homes -- Some parents might let their 10 year old go to the arcade at the mall by themselves, some parents might not. It's not because that one child is more reliable or mature than the other but, mostly what the parents are comfortable with.

I agree with everything you say. BUT that a princess chooses to wear designer outfits doesn't mean that she isn't using her brain, like some posters have suggested. I don't think that someone is smarter just because they are more of a boring dresser.

It was so great, fanletizia! Do you know, what was written on that box? Princes of Asturias seemed to be quite surprised.

The mayor of Ciudad Real, Francisco Gil-Ortega asked today the citizens of the city to take advantage of the visit that the Princes of Asturias will make next Monday, July 4th, to claim "our role in the History of Spain and to ratify our commitment with the Monarchy".

Gil-Ortega asks the citizens to welcome this visit with "enthusiasm" and to adorn their windows and balconies, since it is an "event that supposes a special landmark, within the commemorations of the 750th anniversary, since the creation of the RoyalCity, by King Alfonso X".

The mayor remembers that the RoyalCity has always supported the Crown, and the citizens ought to welcome the visit of Don Felipe de Borbón and Doña Letizia Ortíz, expressing "with joy and conviction the values that we have inherited from those who preceded us, in the defence of the Crown".

During their visit to the RoyalCity, the Princes shall be received at the City Hall, where, in an extraordinary session, they will greet the members of the Corporation.

Afterwards, at the Plaza Mayor, in front of the consistorial building, they will inaugurate a carillon clock, whose hours will be shown by the cervantin characters.

The Princes of Asturias will receive, next Tuesday July5th, at the Palace of La Zarzuela, Javier Espinosa, correspondent of El Mundo in the Middle East and winner of this year’s edition of the Cirilo Rodríguez journalism Awards.

The meeting will also be attended by members of the jury, whose presidency of honour is hold by the Princess Doña Letizia Ortiz. During the reception that will take place at midday, the president of the jury, Alfredo Matesanz, will offer Doña Letizia a reproduction of the ‘Lente de la tierra’, made by the Royal Crystal Factory of La Granja, similar to the one that is given to the winners of this prize, destined to award the journalists who work outside Spain, sometimes in scenes of warlike conflicts or risky situations.

During a brief speech before the Princes of Asturias, Alfredo Matesanz will ask Doña Letizia Ortiz to accept its honour presidency once again.

Doña Letizia will be the youngest personage of the Spanish Biographical Dictionary, made and promoted by the Royal Academy of History. The Dictionary will include near 40000 biographies of "personages who go from the most remote antiquity to the very present time". Among those personalities, we will find the Princes of Asturias and, as a peculiar note, princess Letizia will be the youngest personage included in the biographical collection.

The Royal City waits the visit of the Princes of Asturias with much expectancy.
The mayor, Francisco Gil-Ortega, asked the citizens to adorn their balconies and windows and to accompany the heir to the throne and his wife, on their stroll by the streets.

Doña Letizia is the honour president of the committee in charge of the commemorations to the Royal City’s 750th anniversary and, for that reason, the Princess was invited to visit it; something that she will do tomorrow, along with his husband, Don Felipe de Borbón.

Ciudad Real (Royal City) is the capital of La Mancha, the region that is universally tied to the Miguel de Cervantes' novel Don Quijote de La Mancha. It was founded in 1255 (750 years ago) by King Alfonso X and its original name was Vila Real (Royal Village).
