Since the storm that fell over Madrid, on May 22nd 2004, till the sun that shone last Sunday, there were twelve months; a year of Royal Marriage that united the Princes of Asturias before the eyes of God and of the entire world that followed the religious ceremony on T.V.. For that reason the first wedding anniversary of the Princes was reason for long unpublished news articles and even a documentary like the one TVE emitted on Sunday afternoon with inedited scenes from the religious ceremony and the banquet that took place at the Royal Palace.

The mediatic frenzy had nothing to do with the simplicity with which Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have spent their first anniversary. The Prince returned Saturday from a short trip to the University of Georgetown, where he encouraged the graduates "to the adventure of forming a family", and where he excused the absence of the Princess, by reasons of her pregnancy.

Logically, the Prince returned to Madrid to meet Doña Letizia and spend Sunday together. Carlos Perez Gimeno tells me that, on the night of the anniversary, the Princes had dinner at the Italian restaurant Pulccinela, near the SGAE, where they enjoyed the Italian gastronomy (of which they are very fond of) and calm conversation.

Don Felipe was dressed informally, with tennis and a shirt, whereas Doña Letizia was very flattered with a mauve coat in oriental style and the hair was released. Around eleven p.m., they left the place, where other people were also having dinner (and who saw the Princess reading a publicity add that is distributed in cinemas, reason why they had probably gone to the cinema in that same afternoon, and before the dinner; something that they do quite often). What is mostly sure is that it was a very calm dinner.
