OCTOBER 10

Princes of Asturias

Hearing to an International Delegation of the World Congress on Catholic Television
Lula posted in the Calendar of the Spanish Royals that the Prince and Princess will have a hearing on October 10 for this world congress. It seems that it will be the prince who'll be "tagging along" with the Honarary President ;) -- here's the link to the official notice sent by the House of the King re: the Princess' acceptance: http://www.congresomundialtv.com/_uk/02organizacion/presidenciah_uk.htm

I see that the fact that Felipe and Letizia have a lot of joint activities is getting mixed reactions from different people -- some like it, some don't. From my perspective, I like seeing them together because they embody the synergy that arises from team work. Also, I like seeing that they have common interests or they are as involved in their spouse's interests.

In this congress, for example, maybe Felipe is as interested to be involved in the work of the Catholic TV that is why he's joining his wife for the hearing. I feel that this is the same as when Letizia joins her husband in the hearings of the POA awards, even if the event only names him in attendance. :flowers:

Very good analysis, Kartheina. I agree with you, they are "Princes Asturias Team" of course :flowers: . Their job is fantastic for me.

The teamwork will pay off when the time comes for Felipe to take over from his father. Felipe and Letizia's approach to the crown prince/princess "job" is very professional, committed to Spain, and always done with dignity. All monarchies will come under increasing scrutiny and the countries where the crown prince/princess have worked on behalf of and made themselves as supporters of their respective countries' various issues will have an advantage over celebrity status seeking royalty. If the crownprincely team is viewed as a worthy, inspiring and dignified representative for their country they will be more likely to be welcomed as the new King and Queen.

"But the royals, he argues, define national identity by their very permanence -- far more than passing politicians." I just found this quote from Jeremy Paxman who is coming out with "On Royalty" about the British royal family. I believe Felipe and Letizia's focus have been national identity in their engagements but also in such areas as Letizia'a spanish designed wardrobe. Many have been critical of Letizia for her lack of "own" agenda but I see Felipe and Letizia as approaching their duties with lots of insight and smart planning. They have "National Identity".

I don't care very much about the purpose of this kind of event (it makes part of their duties too:glare:), but  what a horrible matched outfit, a big NO from my part :online2lo !

I loveeee this outfit and I like more with the pink t-shirt than with the violet one.
The pink color suit Letizia very much and the light colors as the beige jaket suit her too.

Letizia looks great:) I love the outfit. That first picture is so precious, it's like Felipe is asking her, if she's feeling alright. He looks so sweat and concerned

I don't understand very much why is she wearing now the jackets open. I don't think she is fat now because of the pregnancy. I don't like it.

May be we can think that the Princess don't have yet a new confortable wardrobe and that, for the moment, it's not very pleasant for her to wear a jacket too narrow:flowers:

I believe that only she has dressed this opened jacket. Letizia is a very thin girl, and her jackets always are in the habit of being tight, nearly that fattens the jackets already they do not button, especially in the zone of the breast. Now she is using the clothes that was going last winter, three and four months after the birth Leonor when she had not recovered totally the figure. The clothes of her first pregnancy cannot use it because it was a spring and summer clothes, so she will have to organize the cupboard and entrust new clothes. If she has to release clothes she will do it the national day or in the prizes, but not for a hearing in the Zarzuela.

I do like the outfit, what I do not like are the shoes...

She wore this outfit when they announced she was pregnant with a different top underneath, and to many other events, it's time to give it a rest already!! recycled a little to much.

The Princess wore this outfit three time : First in Palma in April, 2nd the day of the announce of the pregnancy and today. Yes, it's recycle but not too much, don't forget that Letizia has to change her shape for the next months and that for the begining of pregnancy it's difficult to make specific wardrobe:flowers:

Letizia looks wonderful but those shoes are hedious , they must be really comfortable

I was delighted to hear a news item on Telediario yesterday but have not been able to find anything written to confirm this item.

Until now, CP Letizia's activities were achieved within the company of the Crown Prince. From now, she will have her own agenda, which began on Monday with the inauguration of a primary school. The school has been given the name Principes de Asturias, which is the first institution given that name since their marriage.

According to the report, CP Letizia has expressed a wish to specialise her portfolio on the themes of education and children.

Has anyone else heard this?

The Princes of Asturias receive in the Zarzuela to a full representation of the Asturian Center of Madrid, which expires 125 years of history

The Asturian Center of Madrid celebrated yesterday one of the days most distinguished from the programmed ones for the celebration of its 125. º anniversary on having been got in the palace of the Operetta by the Princes of Asturias. Don Felipe, president of honor of the Asturian Center, and dona Letizia they received in the lounge Magnolias of the Zarzuela to a full representation of the Asturian Center headed by its president, Cosme Sordo, and the general secretary, Maria Pilar Riesco. Together with them, between others, there placed Cristina Alberdi, Fernando Morán, Aurelio Menéndez, Efrén Cires, Gustavo Suárez Pertierra, Gonzalo Anes and the father Ángel. Don Felipe, who proved to be very affectionate during the hearing, asked at Sabino Fernandez Campo, president of the top advice of the Center, with whom he had spoken for telephone was doing a few days, but that could not help to the receipt to meet in bed a strong flu.

In spite of the fact that the service of protocol had foreseen that dona Letizia might stay away for the inconveniences of the first months of pregnancy, the royal couple shared more than one hour with their guests. Dona Letizia showed her desire to visit with the Prince the Asturian beaches, of which she said to be great knowledgeable from her youth. The president of the Center, after congratulating the roya couple on the second pregnancy, did to them delivery of two par of madreñas of gold for the infanta Leonor and their second baby. Don Felipe and dona Letizia affirmed to know the activities of the Asturian Center and asked for a complete list of the close summons to study the possibility of presiding someone of them in this one at 125. º anniversary of the institution native of Asturias of Madrid.

I've jsut seen a video in Corazon de otono and they looked happy and healthy ! What the Princess wears look good in Tv, maybe less "old-fashioned" tha in pics. But She is not a top model and what she wears does'nt import for me because she just have to do her job of Princess, what she does very well !!

Recycled a little too much? She has only so many clothes to work with, of course we will see the same outfits over and over again. She dresses like the rest of us. I respect her for that rather than getting rid of perfectly good clothing and wasting taxpayers money on shopping sprees.

What a strang idea to say that the Princess is "old fashion" ? And according which criterium?

Fo her day duties Letizia chooz generally outfits sober, elegant and comfortable, very often as a working woman. Is a working woman has to be on the edge of the last tendencies as a fashionista woman or a woman who spent her days in fashion magazines to know how she may to dres to be remarked.

To be at the top of the fashion is not a sign of elegance, it's very well know.

I find very curios this leitmotiv about the wardrobe of the princess when she is acting her officila duties. Can you imagine one minute the critisismes of her detractors if she was woring dresses very fashioned....

If the Princess is dress for herself and her comfort she has also to pay attention to don't offend a great part of Spanish women for whomthe fashion is not the first aim in the life. Remember the polemic when Letizia in Lanzarote was dress with jeans...

Adelaide I didn't want to say Letizia is old fashioned. I just wanted to say that her dress looked better on tv than on pics where I 've seen it a little "old" for her : I explain : in my opinion her dress seemed to be better on an older person !
I'm sorry my poor english made a confusion !

Yes that last outfit is awful w/o any doubts, nothing match for starters.

I liked better the one with the childrens.

Thanks for the pictures. I don't like Letizia's outfit from yesterday either...and the shoes are just  !

She looks healthy though and that's what matters for me :)

Not at all, your english is excellent.

It's me who apologize, i confess that I'm a little fed up by some remarks about the awfulness and the character old fashioned of the wardrobe of the Princess of Asturias, as if her firstpreoccupation should be at the edge of th fashion.

As Crown Princess, she dosen't to be an icone of the fashion but the representant of all the spanish woman : old, young, bautiful or not, working or not, mother or not and so on. We can discuss a long time to define a style for a princess but in mine mind the only one which is relevant is this one whic is an offense for nobody ans whic resspect her pesonality. It's the single consensus acceptable to describe the way how a Crown Princess has to dress her.

Please accept my apologize if you find my words so excessive.:flowers:
