I think it´s time to explain the use and history of " Mantilla Española"
As the military protocol marks for acts of godmothers the etiquette for, Doña Letizia was dressing with black, long garment and with black mantilla.

Though the origin is not completely well-known, it is believed that the first veils and mantles that the women were using as adornment and as article of coat, are the origin of the first known mantillas; they were used, principally, as ornamental pieces in the wardrobe of the woman.

The evolution of this article(garment),was marked by social, religious and even climatic factors. The above mentioned were visible, in the type of fabric used for his confection. In the north zone thick fabrics were in use with a clear purpose: to use as coat. In the south zone, fabrics were in use with merely ornamental ends(purposes), as the silk. In both cases, they could go finamente adorned, those of "party" that were illuminated in notable, or simply adorned occasions, those of "diary".

The first uses of the mantilla, they were given between the people(village). They were not used by the high social classes or aristocracy. They were used, mas like mantle of coat that as ornamental article(garment)without using the comb ( "peineta" in spanish).

The queen Isabel II (1.833-1.868), very fond of the use of haidos and diadems, starts popularizing the use of the mantilla, custom that prompt there adopt the women nearest to she. The court ladies and of high social strata, begin to use the mantilla in diverse social acts, which helps to give her, to a great extent, a distinguished, such air and since to come to our days (though his use is very limited and slightly widespread).

The limited use of the mantilla in epochs following the reign of Isabel II, has, between other motives, her origin in the use of other customs that the new monarches were imposing. A notable fact, he is the acquaintance as " the conspiracy of the mantillas ". A form of protest of the Spanish women opposite to the new foreign customs that there seemed to want to impose Amadeo I king of Spain (Amadeo of Savoy 1845-1890) and his wife Maria Victoria.

Nowadays, the mantilla can be seen, almost of exclusive form, in the bulls, the Holy Week and in the weddings. It is not easy to see her in other events or ceremonies

Today in day in protocol of the RoyalSpanish House, uses the mantilla in the acts of coupling, and some religious acts, specially in Andalucia.

The expectancy sense was high in Motril yesterday (Granada). Hundreds of villagers waited from first hour in the morning , in the port surrounding, for the arrival of Princes of Asturias to salute and to see them in person. Like in many other occasions, Princess Letizia attended next to prince Felipe an official commitment, but this time she was the protagonist: Doña Letizia went to her second act in solitaire on the occasion of godmothering the delivery of the battle flag to the new frigate of the Spanish Navy - Alvaro de Bazán, one of NATO's most modern one.

The Princes were received by the civilian authorities and military, among them the advisor of Interior of the Meeting of Andalusia, Evangelina Naranjo, the assistant representative of the Government, Antonio Cross, and the mayor of Granada, Jose Towers Stolen, that the national standard donated by its City council gave to the Princess, so that she, as well, gave it to the commander of the ship, Cristóbal González-Aller.

It was her second intervention in an act witnessed by public since becoming Princess of Asturias. Like in her first, which took place in June of the last year, in Logroño, in the occasion of the delivery of another flag to the Civil Guard, Princess Letizia returned to face the experience with certain tranquillity, thanks in a great extent to her televising professional trajectory like presenter of TVE, as well as with the solemnity that characterizes these type of acts. During her speech, the Princess, of black and with mantilla, as it is traditional in this type of events, emphasized the paper of the Armed Forces "in the defense of Spain and its liberties, as well as in missions of defense of the human rights and of safeguard of international Peace and Security".

Princes of Asturias arrive at Lucena to know mighty industry

Princes of Asturias arrived this morning at the Cordovan locality of Lucena to know their extraordinary dynamism industrial and to support with their presence all those initiatives that contribute to increase it.

At the 11,35 hours Don Felipe and Doña Letizia to the New Seat arrived from Lucena, where it waited for an enthusiastic people to receive them.
The president of the Meeting of Andalusia, Manuel Chaves, gave the welcome to the Princes accompanied by the mayor of Lucena, Jose Luis Bergillos. Don Felipe and Doña Letizia narrowed the hand of numerous people and responded to their efusividad with affection and espontaneidad.
Princes of Asturias have predicted to visit the Consistorial House and to show themselves to the main balcony of the City council to respond to the numerous tokens of affection again.
In the evening, Princes de Asturias will move until the locality of Andújar (Jaén), where the 18,00 hours they will visit the City council and they will meet with the Corporation before inaugurating to the 19,00 hours the breeding ground of companies of the Chamber of Commerce.

Great event and gorgeous mantilla: it gives an incredibly regal impression about the one who wears it (but it's also true that Letizia has a great port-de-tête) !!
Let's not forget all those men in white uniform ! BTW, the picture with Letizia in black surrounded by all this strong and viril white lol , just precious !!!

After watching the videos, I have the impression that L was much more confortable in this act than the last year (which was prefectly fine too): she was smilling and looked very at her ease !

Visit to Lucena's Town hall and to the Center of Innovation and Technology of the Wood - furniture of Andalucia

Their Royal Highnesses the Princes of Asturias at Their arrival to the squareof Lucena's Town hall were got by the president of the Meeting of Andalucia, Manuel Chaves; the delegate of the Government in Andalucia, Juan Jose Lopez Garzón; and for the mayor of Lucena, Jose Luis Bergillos.

After receiving a branch of flowers, Don Felipe and Dona Letizia were greeted by the members of the Municipal Corporation, proceeding to discover later a commemorative plate of this visit to the Town hall and to greet from the balcony. Seguidamente acceded to the Lounge of Plenary sessions, where they signed in the Golden book.

Later they moved to the Center of Innovations and Technology of the Wood - furniture of Andalusia, where they were got for the counselor of Innovation, Science and Company of the Meeting of Andalusia, Francisco Vallejo, and later they were greeted by the members of the governing Foundation of the Center, and by the architect, Aurelio del Pozo.

Immediately, and already inside the building, Don Felipe and Dona Letizia discovered a commemorative plate of the visit to this center, and received explanations of the building, as well as of the activities that are realized. Later, Their Royal Highnesses initiated a tour for the center, visiting between other facilities the exhibition of pieces on the evolution of the furniture in Lucena and the workshop of wood. To end, the Princes conversed during a few minutes with businessmen of the wood, putting end to the visit.

Great expectation in the city for the visit this evening of the Princes of Asturias, don Felipe de Borbón and dona Letizia. Their stay in Andújar comes motivated by the determination that there has put the latter year the president of the Chamber of Trade, Eduardo Criado, who wanted to give category the inauguration of the Vivero of Companies.

The arrival of Their Highnesses is foreseen at six o'clock in the afternoon to the Plaza de España, because they are going to support a meeting with the members of the Municipal Corporation and are going to inaugurate the new lounge of plenary sessions of the Town hall.

They will sign in the book of honor of the Corporation and will receive the institutional obsequiousnesses that already have been revealed publicly. A plate will be delivered to Don Felipe in sculpture, where in a face the former house of comedies appears and in other one the current front of the Town hall.

The Princes of Asturias inaugurate a technological center in Lucena, Cordoba

Near 7.000 persons they have received this morning the Princes of Asturias in the locality cordobesa of Lucena. The Princes have crossed by foot the New Plaza of the locality greeting and receiving samples of fondness of the neighbors and of other inhabitants of municipalities of the province.

Don Felipe and Dona Letizia have inaugurated the Technological Center of the Madeira and the Furniture of Andalusia. This building placed in Lucena's industrial polygon, and that possesses 3.500 square meters of surface they will serve to form in new technologies the workers of the wood and the furniture, and to foment the innovation and the development of the companies.

Don Felipe and dona Letizia have visited the facilities and have chatted with numerous businessmen, who they reported of their projects and of the current situation of the sector. After an hour of visit they have returned to greet to the multitude.

After these interventions, Don Felipe delivered a speech in the one that emphasized that " Andújar, as crossroads of routes, has recovered an economic and commercial own role, which we entrust it continues coming to fruition in this beginning of the XXIst century possessing the value of its peoples and projects as the opening of this new managerial Fish-pond, to the service of Andújar and of the whole region of La Campiña".

The Prince will inaugurate the reopening of the Police Center after the remodeling

His Royal Highness the Prince Don Felipe de Borbón will inaugurate the works of amplification of the Center of Formation of the Police in Avila, as confirmed several sources of inside and out of the own center. It will be next October 11 coinciding with the oath of charges of more than 2.500 policemen of the promotion XX B of the Basic Scale.
