The affection of the Princes of Asturias to the Basque Country was demonstrated yesterday, during a visit in name of the peace, which was also a touching reencounter of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia with San Sebastián, after their stay during their honeymoon.
During the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Guipúzcoa, and before an ample representation of businessmen, Prince Felipe, who were accompanied by his wife, Princess Letizia, pronounced an vigorous speech of "condemnation and repulse" to the "unacceptable terrorist actions, threats and extortions".
Besides, the Prince showed his support and recognition to the role played by the businessmen and their "contribution to the development" of the Basque society, along with his "gratitude and honour" for being invited with the Princess to this inauguration in the Basque Country "a land that we so much admire", mentioning in his speech their stay in the city, during their honeymoon.
Again in Arzak
Just as like almost two years ago, when the Princes visited the city on their honeymoon, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have received numerous samples of affection from the Basque citizens and, just as then, they have also had lunch in the restaurant that Juan Maria Arzak (one of the cooks responsible for the pre-wedding gala dinner offered in the Palace of El Pardo). After the lunch, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia pose to the photographs at the entrance of the restaurant, along with Juan Jose Ibarretxe, the president of the Camera, Jose Maria Echarri, and the cooks Juan Maria Arzak and Elena Arzak.
The visit ended with another inauguration, now the new building of EngineeringSchool of the University of Navarre.

It will be in Espot, in the Pallars Sobirà, next April 3.

The Princes of Asturias, don Felipe and dona Letizia, have accepted Honor's Presidency of the acts of the centenary of the aeronaut Jesus Fernandez Duro, which will be celebrated in The Felguera and Gijon. The activities will rememberso much the first air voyage that passed the Pyrenees as the death of the pioneer felguerino.
The inauguration of the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce concluded with a cocktail, during which the Princes of Asturias chatted with the guests in a very informal way; moments that were not caught by the cameras, because they were not allowed.
Far from all the pomp and protocol, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia revealed themselves good creditors of all the comradeship that characterizes King Don Juan Carlos, as they showed all their proximity to everyone.
The Princess of Asturias, for example, commented with a young pregnant woman, who attended the act, that Infanta Leonor "is precious". Doña Letizia repeated these words, when the journalists (who were greeted one by one with a handshake) asked her about the Infanta. "She is very good and she behaves very well", answered the Princess. "And did you like the txakolí?", they asked to Don Felipe, to which he said in a pleasant way and with a smile: "Yes. I had already proven it. We have it at home".
After showing his "condemnation and repulse" to the "unacceptable terrorist actions, threats and extortions, which affect the free exercise of the rights and liberties of businessmen and all citizens", prince Felipe finished his speech with a sentence in Euskera: "Gaur arrakastarik hasten give to stage berri honetan Gipuzkoako handiena Merkatari-tza-Ganberari opa diogu" ("In the new stage that begins today, we wish the greatest success to the Camera of Gipuzkoa").
After the route by the new building, the Princes of Asturias and the small retinue that accompanied them friendly met for a lunch, during which they chatted with the numerous assistants, including the journalists.
It was already after 2 o’clock in the afternoon, when the Princes of Asturias left the building. In the outside, they were received with numerous applauses on the part of several hundreds of people, who approached the couple to be able to see them. The applause was then mixed with hisses by a group of young people who shouted slogans against the Crown and in favour of the independence. The Ertzain-tza formed then another security barrier so to keep them away, although incidents were not registered.
Don Felipe and Doña Letizia inaugurated in the afternoon the new building of the new Engineering School of Tecnun, in Miramón, dedicated to the investigation.
“It is always a cause of joy to return to the University and today it is in a even more special way". With these words was signed the honour roll of Tecnun. It was clear during the visit that Don Felipe and Doña Letizia were delighted to be among classrooms, laboratories and students, in spite of the restricted protocol. They return to the University was also a reason for joy from the part of the teachers of Tecnun and the rest of the authorities.
As a matter of fact, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia wanted to see by close the work that is carried out by the students and investigators of Tecnun. In their way to the new building, they approached a group of people, who were impatiently waiting to see the couple. Doña Letizia paid then attention to Pablo, a precious baby who was carried by his proud mother, Eva.
Soon they entered the corridors of Tecnun. In the laboratory of digital processing of signal (where Prof. Adam Podhorski asked Princess Letizia to give him an autograph for his ill five-year-old daughter; the princess sent her kisses and encouragement), the Princes spoke with more than one hundred investigators, the majority of them students, and, although the visit accumulated more than one hour of delay, they insisted on visiting two laboratories that were not within the official program.
Between the many gifts received at the University, the secretaries of the school gave little Leonor a pink sweat shirt with the standard of the University of Navarre.
Just like movie stars, the Princes (who rested after lunch in the Hotel Maria Cristina), breaking the protocol, they aproached to Donostiarrian people, who were waited at the door.
The Princes of Asturias broke the protocol or perhaps not, since their stay in the Hotel Maria Cristina did not appear in the official agenda of the Royal House. Nor did it include the luncheon in the Arzak restaurant either, although it was a known-secret.
After having lunch, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia went to the hotel, where they rested until six in the afternoon. And then, when the for their exit towards Miramón arrived, the Princes skipped for minutes the restricted program and approached the people to greet those, who were waiting for them behind the fences. There were about two hundred people.
Doña Letizia was, during all day, the center of all the glances. For his first official visit to San Sebastián, the Princess chose a classic look-lady. She was dressed in a carved jacket, accessorized with a black leather belt that marked her waist. The skirt, in straight line until the knee, had a very discreet printing of tiny pictures in black and white vichy pattern, although it seemed grey at some distance. The stockings were black and the handbag was squared. She seemed like the legendary model of the most international Spanish company of cloth and leather accessories. The high heels of about 7 centimetres high styled the Princess’ figure even more.
Doña Letizia knows very well what is to be in front of a camera and, during the speeches, she directed several glance to the graphical informers, so to give them the photos, as a professional only does. It was one of the little occasions when they could photograph her with certain tranquillity, since the security status that surrounds this kind of visits limits the work of the informers very much. In fact, even the branch of flowers that was given at the beginning of the morning had to pass through a scanner.
The Princes of Asturias, who became parents at the end of October, were especially affectionate with the children, during their visit. Before visiting the new building of Tecnun, for example, they greeted the public and talked with Eva, who was carrying her son Pablo in arms. The Princess asked how old was the baby and the young woman answered back asking her for Infanta Leonor.
"They are charming, very likeable. And they have eaten everything". This time, the Princes of Asturias also gave good account of the food that was prepared by Juan Mari Arzak. The Princess of Asturias, who showed to have a good appetite, was interested by the situation of the theatre Victoria Eugenia, also chatted with Arzak, who gave her a couple of recipes. The cook assured that Doña Letizia knows of gastronomy, and had already showed her knowledge, when the cook and Ferrá Adriá organized theor pre-wedding gala dinner.
When coming out of the restaurant (as they were waited by dozens of people, who cheered them up), a woman was able to give them a letter. "The content is personal", she said, while showing the autograph that the Princes printed on a wedding photo taken from of a pink magazine.
