Terror survivors gather in Spain

Hundreds of survivors of terror attacks around the world are among delegates gathering at an International Victims of Terrorism conference in Spain.
People caught up in the Beslan school siege, the Madrid and London train bombings and the 11 September attacks on the US are expected to attend.
They will be encouraged to share their experiences and will receive psychological guidance.
Organisers say they want more done at an international level to help victims.
EU Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini is due to talk about terrorism within the European Union at the Valencia conference, which will be opened by Spain's Crown Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia.
Facing terror
Previous conferences have been held in Madrid and Bogota, Colombia.
Maite Pagazaurtundua, from the Spanish Foundation of Terrorism Victims, said: "Spain is a good example when we're talking about protecting people who have suffered the phenomenon of terrorism - and how to face it."
Discussions on Monday will focus on victims of attacks abroad - including Colombia, the US, Ireland, Israel, the UK, Russia and Indonesia - and those injured in Spain's conflict with Basque separatists Eta. On Tuesday, the conference will turn its attention to the survivors of the Madrid train bombings in 2004 and the psychological impact attacks have on victims.

Prince of Asturias:'the terrorism will never obtain to fold to us'

The Prince of Asturias said today, on having inaugurated the third international congress on victims of the terrorism, that the violence of the assassins " has not obtained and it will never obtain to fold to us ".
The Princes of Asturias travelled today to Valencia to preside at the inaugural session of this congress that will assemble today and tomorrow to three hundred fifty Spanish victims of the terrorism and of other countries of the world and concretly to 235 victims of ETA's violence.
To the beginning of the inaugural act the attendees to this congress guarded a minute of silence in memory of all the victims of the terrorism in the whole world.
' The victims of the terrorism - said Don Felipe - you are alone, not neither in your pain, nor in your hope. We are and we will be always to your side '
In his speech the Prince emphasized that the ' execrable actions of the terrorism have never could they will not even be able to finish with our confidence in which the democracy, close to the freedoms and rights that itshelters, will prevail always over them '.
Don Felipe had words of fondness for the victims of the terrorism and their relatives who are present at this international congress. ' Your dignity in the pain, your sacrificed example and your unbreakable spirit they constitute the mirror in which we we all have to look '.
' Because - he insisted - having suffered so much, you have never answered with violence to the violence, you have never replaced the hope with the desperation, you have never resigned the reason and the justice to finish with the terrorism '.
