From today (Royal House Official Website)

Felipe and Letizia arriving

I don't know if this belongs in this thread or the King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia thread--but I have a question. Do you think Felipe and Letizia's open and affectionate attitude could be rubbing off on the family? We see Letizia arm and arm with the Queen and now this: I mean how many times do you see this kind of open warmth and happiness between Their Majesties?

I don't think so. Queen Sofia has always been a very affectionate and endearing woman, and while she and the king may not always show affection towards each other, they occasionally do. :flower:

There are pictures of Queen Sofia and Asma al-Assad that show the Queen being affectionate towards Asma, like she was her own daughter.

Nice picture. It is unusual seeing Felipe smiling at another woman.

I am not a fan of Queen Sofia's dress, the colour is ok, the dress is just well "busy".

Letizia's ensemble is a little too dark, although black pant suits are elegant. She could almost pass for attending a funeral, especially with the boxy shoulder pads. A little colour would have accentuated the suit, perhaps something in line with the colour of Felipe's tie.

Felipe and the King look great. Thumbs up for them :flower:

Letizia wore a new outfit taday :flower:

According to the Mexican press Felipe and Letizia will be in Mexico on July 19 and 20, in Monterrey, where they will, among other activities, attend the inauguration of the "Conferencia de la Hispanidad."

I've seen no mention in the Spanish press yet, but if this is true that means that by September newly minted Princess Letizia will have officially represented her country in Jordan, Austria, Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Hungary.

Nothing like starting off slow.

They have another ceremony for new officiers on Monday--this one for the navy.

The kiss
 I love it!!!

We honestly should leave them alone about it though. All that matters is how much they kiss in private (cough babymaking cough) ... It is a cute picture though

I was wrong--the dinner with the President-elect of Panama is tonight, not last night.

As for the Mexico trip, it appears to be a go. From what I saw in the Mexican press they will arrive on Friday night to Mexico City, on Sunday going to Monterrey, returning to Spain on the 20nth or 21st.

Some things which will be on the agenda (which is not final yet) include: Dinner or lunch with President Fox and his wife; innauguration of an exhibit by a Spanish photographer in Mexico City; reception with Spanairds living in Mexico; innauguration and attendance at the "Conference of Hispanistas" (the motivation for the trip); reception with important figures of Mexico's cultural life; and a reception with authorities of Nueva Leon (the state in which Monterrey is).

The press says the trip will be low on protocol--an official trip, but informal and friendly.

For those interested, the Conferencia de la Hispanidad, is once every 3 years and held in a different city each time. It's organized by an academic organization that was formed in 1962 in which they work to promote the Spanish language, and hispanic literature and culture--it's members include all the leading academics in such matters from around the world, with representatives from as far as the University of Buenos Aires and England's Oxford, to name just two. One of it's main economic sponsors is the Foundation Dukes of Soria, Felipe's aunt and uncle and it's apparently a tradition to invite a member of the Spanish Royal Family to attend.

Letizia looking very chic and sleek there. She seems to be able to wear pantsuits well (I, alas, have never been able to  ). These are very nice shots.

Great photos Micas! Many thks for posting them.

Has anyone else notice this or is it just me...everytime there's a photo call, CP Letizia is always standing on the King's side and CP is standing on Queen's side.

Is it some sort of protocol on the royal family?

The kiss
Oh, my! I love this photo ~ the second one, especially! Most of their "kissing photos" seem like they're just "shy" about kissing in public. But, in this one, it looks as though Felipe is just "determined" to be "ultra - romantic" on his wedding day. Thanks again, Nouwrien, for posting these photos. I'm very grateful for all your work in posting all different types of photos of F&L.

Elizajane :)

letizia and felipe will go in official trip to hungary from the 6th to the 8th of september.

Article on upcoming activities

August 16--Presidential Inauguration, Dominican Republic
Date not specified: Attend Olympics in Athens
September 1--Presidential Inauguration, Panama
September 8--Official visit to Hungary

I just read in the newspaper that Felipe and Letizia will be doing part of the Pilgram's Route of Santiago over the next couple of days, before returning to Madrid and flying to Santo Domingo this weekend for the Presidential inauguration. I've only seen this in one paper, but that would be great. This 500nth year of the route of Santiago has been a major success with something like double the usual annual pilgrams. Anyhow, I'll keep a look out for photos in case it's true.

According to this article, Esquire Magazine has named Prince Felipe one of the worlds best dressed men.

"Although the magazine has compiled best-dressed lists in the past, this year's list is the first worldwide affair. Other best-dressed men include "Today" co-anchor Matt Lauer, Prince Felipe of Spain, Afghanistan (news - web sites) President Hamid Karzai and San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom."

When will Felipe and Letizia attend The Olympics Games?
I would guess not before the end of the week. They are in the Dominican Republic on an official trip Sunday and Monday, arriving back in Spain on Tuesday. So, I guess any time thereafter is a possibility.

The trip to the Domnican Republic is very short:

Arrive Sunday afternoon:
Meet with outgoing President, Sr. HIPÓLITO MEJÍA
Meet with incoming President, Sr. LEONEL FERNÁNDEZ REYNA
Meet with the Spanish Collective at the Spanish Embassy

Monday:
Attend the inauguration ceremony of new President
Lunch with represenatives of Dominican society
Depart for Spain after Lunch
