They said onother messageboards (Glittering royal maybe?) that it was an antique Princess of Asturias tiara that hadn't been worn in years (as there hasn't been an offical Princess of Asturias in years!).

Could you provide and English translation of that? I don't speak Spanish and I know some of our other posters do not either. It would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Wasn't the site that was around in October but when you went to it later, it went to the Official Royal Site. No, that was another one. That one had tons of info on it.

You know what? I have no clue if it is the same site or not, as I've never visited a Letitiza site b4. Sorry.

I think people need to stop looking at royals as deities. Letizia is a mere mortal as is Felipe. And we have all done things in our past that we are not proud of. Geez.... let;s give the poor woman a break.

You know what, we ALL have skeletons in our closets and I'm sure she wasn't sitting around waiting for Felipe her whole life. She was living her life the way she's saw fit.

Yes, of course. I agree. However, will the media and Spanish public opinion give her a break? That remains to be seen. There is a propensity to go 'digging' these days.

From what I know, she is very popular with the average Spaniard, no?

My mother just came back from Madrid and she says Letizia is quite popular.

I vote yes, I believe it's Letizia in the painting, baring all, welll most of it.  I expect more things like this to be coming out about her.

You seem to have a strong disliking for Letizia Ortiz; I based this assumption on this and other posts you have made. What has she done? Do you know her personally? Those pictures were an artist's imagination, and only that. What would the world say and find out about you if you were the fiancee of the Crown Prince of Spain?

Hello Blue and all,

I will confess that if I were Felipe's fiancee, or royal fiancee in general, my past would cause controversy. There would be threads pages upon pages long, indignation, protests in the streets, etc, lol. I would be run right out of Spain I'm sure. :ninja:

I don't like her, you do, so lets just wait and see what happens next. Just as I don't know her personally, I've got the feeling other posters don't either. Therefore, the Letizia is perfect theory is just as unrealistic as the Letizia is bad theory.

I still believe Letizia posed for the topless painting. :p

" You know what, we ALL have skeletons in our closets "

Just so you all know ahead of time. That I, future prince of Sweden, have never posed topless for any painting, drawing or photo. So there you go. You could say "Ahh, the new prince. I remember him back when he was at LTR...."

Dennism, we expect a first hand report (and exclusive behind the scenes photos) when you marry your princess!

As for the Letizia contraversy, we don't know her, she's done some things that have set off royal protocol radars that some posters have. But, she's human, she's coming from an environment where she had to speak up to be heard. Felipe looks patient, so, a few rough spots aren't going to cause too much trouble, long term. I bet Letizia will turn out to be a wonderful Princess. She's got the perfect example living nearby (The Queen). Letizia would be a fool if she doesn't ask her mother in law to be for any help.

"She's got the perfect example living nearby (The Queen). Letizia would be a fool if she doesn't ask her mother in law to be for any help."

Okay. I can see that. Despite my various problems with Sofia in the past, I contend that fewer are more regal(by birth certainly) and she has been a pretty good royal. Duty and all. Married, apparently, to a cad. She's stuck by with her children.

" Dennism, we expect a first hand report (and exclusive behind the scenes photos) when you marry your princess!"

No problem. I'll make a note of that. Send photos to LTR.

Dennism- this is OT, but what problems did you have with the queen? perhaps you could pm me, or put them in a thread about HM? (Or if they're already there, direct me to where to look! :) )
Thanks.
And thank you in advance for the photos :)

Photos and a report. No problem. With permission from the princess, of course.

Oops, forgot about her.. Maybe you should ask the King for permission as well, just to be on the safe side?

Yes, the king. I will. I already have glowing words for the queen. Must think of some for the king...

Does anyone know more about tension in Zarzuela, about this new book or about taking Letizia from public life because of her past and scandals. The talks are getting hot in Spain. But no statement from Zarzuela.

¿NUEVA LADY DI?

A quick translation from Babelfish(shakes head)

The first critics to Letizia Ortiz have not pleased in the Real House. One of the first measures has consisted of retiring the fiance'e of Don Felipe of the public scene.

19 of January. We recently advanced it in Elsemanaldigital.com after the critics sent by Jaime Peñafiel and the opinions of Pepe Infant in its interview of Time and its Reinara' Felipe I SAW.

In fact the cold sweats began in Zarzuela with the publication of You you will be my queen, of Dove Garci'a Pelayo and Ángela Doorman. The book counted intríngulis of the relation between Don Felipe and Letizia Ortiz in a very respectful tone, although without excluding some conflicting points. For example, the ultimátum of the Prince to its father to marry with Letizia, the initial opposition of the Kings to the marriage and the Silenzio Operation to carry out a policy of completed facts. That is to say, to prevent "pim pam mediatic pum" in a well-known engagement that had been able to ruin the relation. Said otherwise: when one occurred to know the decision Don Felipe everything was done.

To this certain commentaries were added on Letizia Ortiz and the comparisons with previous relations of the Prince, like Eva Sannum and, specially, Isabel Sartorius. The shots went towards the condition of divorced of the future queen.

Soon it arrived the subject from the commercial center and the escorts that undressed the photographer. A wonderful relation with the press, forged during years by the cabinet of the Zarzuela, was on the verge of coming down in hardly a day by the attitude of the bodyguards of the Prince. And it consists, that, as it were heard then in the journalistic world, did not go more to by respect to Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía.

It is not to be strange, therefore, that the Real House has decided to separate from the circulation, during some time, to Letizia Ortiz beyond the official acts. Some fear that it becomes the Spanish Lady Di and others are scared before the risk of which ends up eclipse the persons of greater rank of the Royal Family.

History does not finish here, because the psychosis arrives so at extreme that it is tried to avoid that the means catch images of the fiance'e. Thus it it could verify an equipment of outstanding Telecinco to a property of Toledo to whom the pair had to go. When trying to record them, the escorts surrounded to them to prevent them to take images. Later, when the reporters approached a near town to take a coffee, they were followed. And even once they threw the towel and they returned to Madrid, during a long section they were followed by a car of the real services of security

Well, the gist is there.

Dennis- I look forward to seeing you at royal gatherings, as I will be the Queen of England one day (William not Charles!!!)! We'll have a grand ol' time sitting back, remembering the good ol' days at LTR!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

As for Letizia I remember her breifly from when I went to Spain a few years back, but I wasn't exactly there to watch the news...it seems to me that people judge based on the skewed visions of the media without full stories...I'm guilty at times as well, but I'm trying, and as I rather like the looks of Letizia from the Engagement Photos I fully intend on watching what happens!

Does anyone else think that the wax figures of Felipe and Letizia look kind of... well, creepy?

I generally think that most Wax figures do.

A really nice picture of Letizia while on her skiing holiday from Imagine Scandinavia that I absolutely could not resist.

There were a number of lovely photos pf Letizia from their ski weekend. I admit that I have become an uninhibited fan. I think she and they together are wonderful.

I think she is a very photographic individual. I don't always like what she is wearing or how she has her hair done, but she generally looks good in photos.
