King Juan Carlos visited the basilica of Jesus de Medinaceli, in Madrid´s oldtown, on the occasion of the veneration of the Christ of Medinaceli, celebrated the first day of every month, and especially on March the first.
This religious tradition began in 1682, when the first congregation arrived to the basilica to adore this Jesus, and it has gone on until now.
People have been in line since Wednesday, to adore the image of the Jesus of Medinaceli, to kiss his feet, prey to him or participate in mass.
Photos from ImagineScandinavia:

It's a tradition that, every year, on March 5th, a member of the RF shall visit the church.
Last year, Felipe and Letizia went together to fulfill the tradition.

Great pictures pdas1201! Not too often that Sofia and her brother get together. Sofia looks positively thrilled to see Anne Marie.

I always love seeing pictures of Queen Sofia interacting with other people. Whether it's with another royal person or with a Spanish citizen or children, Sofia always seems to embrace them fully and give them that big grin of hers. She seems like such a personable individual.
