The Kings will travel today to Canaries

The Kings will travel today to Canaries, where they will visit Lanzarote's islands, Great Canary and Tenerife, in which capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, they will represent on Tuesday, the 22nd, to a commemorative concert of the Anniversary XXX of don Juan Carlos' arrival to the throne.
The Government of Canaries, at which Adam Martin presides, has organized this concert of honoring to the King and to remember an efeméride that changed the history of Spain.
This day of 1975, with Franc still of present body in the Royal Palace, till then Prince of Spain was turning into King, and the dictatorial regime of the general was giving step to a parliamentary Monarchy that expires now thirty years.

The Kings have foreseen to come to Lanzarote today in the night. There they will stay in the residence of ' The Mareta ', which the deceased Rey Hussein of Jordan ordered to construct at the end of the 70.
Placed to shore of the sea, in the tourist enclave of Coast Teguise, in the North-East of the island, the Hashemite monarch gave her to his friends the Kings of Spain at the end of the 80, and since then it depends on National wealth.
In ' The Mareta ', during a few days of rest of the Royal Family in the Christmas of 1999, there died, on January 2, the mother of the King, dona Maria de las Mercedes.
In this Royal residence designed by the artist lanzaroteño César Manrique, foreign agents chief executive have lodged as Helmut Kohl, Mikhail Gorbachev, Gerhard Schoreder y Vaclav Havel, between others, and in it there spent his summer vacations this year the prime minister, Jose Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, and his family.

The official agenda of the Kings in Canaries will begin tomorrow, when the Kings receive in hearing institutional and cultural representatives of Lanzarote,it will take place in the Castle of San Jose, which shelters the Museum of Contemporary Art of the island.
In the evening, don Juan Carlos and dona Sofía will travel to Great Canary and in the capital, Las Palmas, will visit the cathedral and the House of Colon, in the historical hull of the city, Vegueta's neighborhood.
At the last hour of the evening, in the Audience Alfredo Kraus, the Kings will preside at the act of delivery of the Golden medals to the Merit in the Fine arts, with which every year the Government distinguishes to persons and entities that have stood out in the field of the artistic and cultural creation or have given well-known services in the promotion, development or diffusion of the art and the culture or in the conservation of the art heritage.

Between the winning ones this year they stand out the Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso, the photographer Cristina García Rodero, the cantaoras Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera, the writers Clara Janés and Jose Luis Sampedro, the bullfighter Paco Camino, the actor Jose Luis Gómez, the dancer Jose Antonio, the current director of the National Ballet of Spain, the designer Carolina Herrera and the conductor Odón Alonso.
Medals of Gold will gather also to the Merit in the Fine arts the plastic artist Juan Genovés, the actresses Victoria Abril and Maria Galiana, the painter Ginés Liébana, the designers Amaya Arzuaga and Sara Navarro, the architect Dionysus Hernández Gil, and the magazines 'Pace' and 'Littoral'.
On Tuesday, don Juan Carlos and dona Sofía will move to Tenerife. In the south of the island, in the municipality of Adeje, the Kings will inaugurate the center ' Magma, art and congresses ', a modern building with the one that is chased to revitalize the cultural activity of this zone and to attract the celebration of congresses.

In the evening, in the Hotel Mencey of the capital tinerfeña, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Kings will receive in hearing to an agricultural representation of the sectors and fishing of the islands.
Already in the night, they will preside at the concert that the Government of Canaries has organized on the occasion of thirty anniversary of the proclamation of the King, who will take place in the new Audience of Tenerife, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava.
The concert will run at the expense of the Symphonic Orchestra of Tenerife, directed by its holder, Víctor Pablo Perez.

The Kings have come this evening to Lanzarote for a visit of two days to Canaries, during which they have foreseen to travel also to the islands of Great Canary and Tenerife.
At 20:10 (Canary hour), with rain, the plane that brought from Madrid don Juan Carlos and dona Sofía it was landing in Lanzarote's airport.
