The Kings of Spain inaugurate Fitur

Don Juan Carlos and dona Sofía, accompanied by the mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, and the Canary president, Adam Martin, between others, presdieron the official inauguration of the International Fair of Tourism FITUR 2006, which is celebrated until the next January 29 in the Fairground Park Juan Carlos I of Madrid.

that's so cute of the king to color match the tie with the queen's suit, which is with the colour purple.

If you notice it is a common trend in the SRF: the King and Queen, Felipe and Letizia, Cristina and Iñaki, Jaime and Elena; they all usually are color coordinated in ties for boys and suits for girls

The press commented yesterday that the Kings will visit this year Thailand and Jordan in official visit, and that because of it were stopped in the stands of both countries.;)

Delivery of the National Prizes of Investigation, granted by the Department of Education and Science
Royal Palace of Madrid, on January 26, 2006

Presided over by Their Majestys the Kings in the Real Palace of Madrid Their Majestys the Kings have presided over in the Real Palace of Madrid the delivery of the National Prizes of Investigation 2005, that grants to the Ministry of Education and Science.
To their arrival, Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía was greeted in the Saleta de Gasparini by the minister of Education and Ciencia, Maria Jesus San Segundo, and the Secretary of State of Universities and Investigation, Salvador Ordo'ñez.
After acceding the Kings to the Hall Columns and occupying its place in the presidential table, Don Juan Carlos opened the session and granted to the word to minister of Education and Ciencia and to the secretary of the Jury of the Prizes, Demonte Violet, that gave reading to the Act of Concession.
Next, Pedro Miguel Echenique Landiribar (Blas Prize Goatherd, in the area of Physical Sciences, of the Materials and the Earth), Miguel Valcárcel Cases (Soft Prize Enrique in the area of Chemical Science and Technology), Miguel Delibes de Castro (Prize Alexander Malaspina, in the area of Sciences and Technologies of the Natural Resources), Manuel Saline de Hermenegildo (Prize Julio King Pastor, in the area of Mathematics and Technologies of the Information) and Ignacio Fernandez de Lucio (Prize Juan of the Cierva, in the area of Technological Transference) gathered of hands of His Majesty the King their plates.
Next, the King gave to the word to Pedro Miguel Echenique, in name of the awarded ones, later to pronounce a speech, in which he expressed the necessity to continue impelling the development of the investigation in Spain, and congratuló by the increase of the economic commitment with the investigation, scientific development and the innovation made by Government, Independent Communities and the private initiative. Also, he pleaded for the incorporation of the investigating young people, indicating like a responsibility that to all is incumbent to us "to prevent that which demonstrated scientific capacities are lost, and to help to the development of the scientific vocations in the young people".
Don Juan Carlos concluded congratulating to the awarded ones and animating to them to continue its commendable work. Once raised to the session the Kings they saluted to the awarded ones and they moved to the Hall Gasparini, where they conversed with the assistants.

Btw., do you know why she always wears so much jewellery? She has very often a couple of necklaces and brancellets. Does it have something in common with her Greek origin?

The King transmitted yesterday his condolences to the relatives of both military men, as well as to the minister of Defense, Jose Bono, and to the Chief of the General staff of the Air (JEMA), general Francisco Jose García of the Vega. Sources of the House of the King informed Efe that Don Juan Carlos has been interested personally for the accident.

The queen dona Sofía, accompanied of the minister of Education and Science, Maria Jesus San Segundo, presides today in Vigo at the botadura of the oceanographic vessel Gamboa's Vineshoot, one of the most advanced in its category in the area of the marine investigation.

The ship has been constructed by the shipyard Naval Constructions Freire for the Department of Education, the Xunta of Galicia and the Top Council of Scientific Investigations (CSIC). At the act, besides, there will be present between other authorities the Galician president, Emilio Perez Touriño, that of the CSIC, Carlos Martínez Alonso and that of the company armadora, Jesus Freire. Gamboa's Vineshoot, it indicates the house armadora, will cover the deficit of modern oceanographic vessels and will place Spain between the top countries in the investigation oceanográfica world.

The queen Doña Sofía will preside at an act of the association Rosae

The Royal House confirmed to Rosae that the queen dona Sofia will preside at the act that the association of affected of cancer of Valdepeñas's breast will celebrate next February 3 in the National Audience of Madrid, on the occasion of its fifth anniversary. It is a question of a recital of singing that will possess the performance of the soprano Cecilia Lavilla Berganza and of Juan Antonio Álvarez Parejo, to the piano.
