What was the commotion about? Was the woman trying to talk to the Queen?

From what i understand its the mother of someone serving in the military trying to give the queen a letter. She yelled out "your majesty please take this letter; its the letter of a worried mother", one of the persons holding her back asked her to give him the letter but she refused. People as you can hear started clapping and yelling the equivalent of "god save the queen" (i think thats the translation of ("viva la reina")
Wow, the spanish people are really lucky to have her as their queen. As much as I love Queen Elizabeth II and not to start comparisons or anything, but I just dont see her ever doing something like that. Its wonderful to see the interaction between queen sophia and public.

I did a bit of research and those of you who know the situation can correct me, but I understand tthe woman is the mother of someone who was serving and testified that an accident in 2005 which caused the death of two marines was due to the negligence of his superiors and it seems he's been arrested for two months in a military prison for it.

I, too, admire Queen Sophia very much. A few years ago, we were attending the National Fiesta Parade in Madrid. As the Rolls Royce left the Colon Plaza carrying the King and Queen, she opened her window and threw a kiss to the crowd. Of course she didn't know two Americans were included! It was a warm and wonderful moment.
