En su proposición no de ley Eduardo Zaplana aporta una completa información acerca del proyecto que se pretende desarrollar en Verín. El circuito estará ubicado en los pueblos de Mandín y Feces de Abaixo, junto a la frontera portuguesa. Esta zona «es el punto de confluencia entre Galicia, Portugal y la Meseta, articulada y conectada adecuadamente por la A-52 en España y la IP en Portugal -que une Oporto con Verín-. Ourense será además nudo de alta velocidad de Galicia y enlace directo con Madrid». Además de las ayudas a las que se pueda acceder a nivel provincial y autonómico «también se podría tener acceso a los fondos transfronterizos de la Unión Europea».

Según el portavoz del PP en el Congreso para desarrollar este proyecto se cuenta con la gestión de Octagon-esedos -la firma a la que está vinculado Iñaki Urdangarín- y con «el aval de las diferentes Federaciones Nacionales y Portuguesas». En lo referente a las actividades a desarrollar en el circuito, éste se va a especializar «y diferenciarse en los sectores del vehículo industrial, comcercial , autocares y otro tipo de maquinaria, esto sería en el Área de I+D».

Las previsiones en relación al circuito de alta velocidad de Verín pasan, según la iniciativa de Zaplana, durante el primer año por la organización de «eventos deportivos tanto de motociclismo como de automovilismo, de relevancia nacional e internacional. Con este centro se pretende complementar y no ser competencia de centros de alta tecnología de la automoción a nivel europeo». Además de las gestiones realizadas por Ourense, en Chaves se está construyendo un área de logística de I+D y almacenaje, lo que daría al circuito un carácter internacional.

April 25th - Infanta Cristina presided over the prize-giving ceremony of the Design National Awards. The winners were the Argentinian Juan Gatti and the Spanish Josep Narbona ex aequo and the Metalarte Company for implementating a global design politic during the last 50 years.
