Who said fear?! The Dukes of Palma de Mallorca, a sportif marriage as they are, dare everything. And the past weekend had occasion to demonstrate it. Next to their four children and the brothers of Iñaki with their families formed one amused gang who maintained course to the Pyrenean Aragonese, a place that visits very frequently in winter to practice the ski, but that in summer surprised them still more. And they had a most complete plan of activities. And everything of strong emotions. And yes, with a star activity: the descend in rafting.

Supplied with suits of neopreno --the defrosting water and high mountain is only for brave - helmets and life-guard, the complete family (except for the small Irene, still too much young for this type of adventures) raised with their respective oars until a stop where they waited for the boats type zodiac in which they would make the descend. The children were all nerves and emotion. Still more when a ewes flock of and goat crossed themselves, something that is not seen in the cities. It had to be the first time that small Miguel crossed itself one, because, peculiar, he ran towards his mother to ask everything to her.

Interesting, but the best thing was about to to arrive. The big group distributed in several boats to undertake the descend. Doña Cristina and her husband took in hers two of their children (Miguel, in the prow, and Juan Valentin, in the stern) and sent themselves to brave waters. The faces of emotion of the children said everything to it while their parents fought with their oars to maintain the stability of the boat. In spite of what can seem, the adventure does not have greater risk. Still, in all boats goes a professional to avoid any danger. Taking advantage of the good weather, they bathed in river cold waters, where the expresses made of unexpected toboganes. Although there was hardly no depth, Iñaki took the precaution to take his children strongly while they slid by small eddies.

In the evening they moved to a near locality, where in the middle of the street a small match of "rustic" skittles was celebrated (as much the skittles as the ball were of wood). Neither short nor sluggish they tried their luck. Doña Cristina demonstrated her dowries and Juan Valentin went to the rear. All with the enthusiasm of locals who were thrilled to have there part of the Royal Family.

Lovely photos, mtbcm! It's great to see how balance the Dukes of Palma's family is. They really try to keep the balance between spending time with the whole family, or just with the boys (just to makes them feel happy & not jealous of Irene). They also taught their boys to be sporty early on too. It's great to see them involve in so many different sports in the past years, and it's just the beginning.

Thank you very much mtbcm, the photos are wonderful and in these are better the details and the faces of the children who are worthy to admire, with these photos already I am wishing that the summer in palm arrives. :) :)

Thank you, purple. It seems to me that Don Iñaki wants their kids to have a life dedicated to sports and he has started already pathing the way. If we add the Spanish Royal Family love for sports, those kids will be great in almost everything!

Opening of the meeting of the Council of Administration of the Fund of the World Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI Fund)

Madrid, on July 10, 2006

There will be presided by Her Royal Highness the Infanta Dona Cristina, who shows Honor's Presidency of this meeting.

The World Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization was created to help to eliminate the disability of the poor countries to provide vaccines to their children. Of 130 million children who are born every year, from two to three millions will die because of diseases that might have be anticipated by vaccines.

In this initiative there take part entities of the public and private sector, as governments, UNICEF, the World Organization of the Health, the Foundation Bill and Melinda Gates, the World Bank, manufacturers of vaccines, not governmental organizations and institutes of investigation.

The work of the GAVI Fund is based on the conviction of which all the children, without importing his place of birth or residence, deserve a healthy childhood.

GAVI Fund lauds Spain for its contribution to child health.

Her Royal Highness the Infanta Doña Cristina and Health Minister Elena Salgado applaud achievements of global immunisation programs and Spain’s continued commitment to these effort

MADRID, 10 July 2006 — Representatives of the GAVI Fund today gathered in Madrid to express gratitude to Spain for its leadership and its generous contribution to health and to global immunisation.
The GAVI Fund Board is taking place in Madrid this week and will gather Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, Graça Machel - Chair of the GAVI Fund Board, Mary Robinson, Michel Camdessus, Rita Süssmuth, and other eminent personalities. Today, GAVI Fund Board members are attending the welcome reception, opened by the Infanta Doña Cristina, Honorary Patron of the Madrid fund board meeting. Also participating is Spanish Health Minister, Mrs Elena Salgado.
It is estimated that through the GAVI immunisation programs, more than 1.7 million premature deaths have been prevented in the past five years. This is a noteworthy achievement giving GAVI and its partners confidence to redouble efforts to reach the 27 million children born every year who lack access to immunisation.
On Friday 7 July, the Spanish Council of Ministers announced its official ratification of the IFFIm, the International Finance Facility for Immunisation. “We are enormously grateful for Spain’s support,” said Dr Julian Lob-Levyt, Executive Secretary of GAVI. “With Spain’s contribution we will be able to reach more children with life-saving vaccines and strengthen the health systems of impoverished countries and ultimately contribute to reaching the Millennium Development Goals. Together, we are building a better future for these children and countries as they work to break the cycle of poverty. ” The IFFIm has the capacity to save millions of additional lives that would otherwise be needlessly lost.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Monica! It's nice to see Cristina in something other than white or black and she looks wonderful. A nice shade of pink-purple (don't know what to call it, it's not exactly magenta).

I like her in this colour (well, in others of course too:D), but this one really matches her imo.

Oh, Cristina looks wonderful today, the jacket is very original, and the color is nice.

Definitively, Cristina is marvellous today!
