I've been following their stay in Catlunya via three newspapers (La Vanguardia, El Periodico and ABC) and let me tell you, they have gotten rave reviews for their eight intense days in Barcelona. They not only had a slew of official events, but they did a lot of "unofficial" events, like dinners with cultural figures, politicians and business people. The newspapers all agree that they universally charmed and impressed with their intelligence, their knowledge, their discernment, dedication and their warmth. People were impressed with the responsibility with which they take their duties and their sincere desire to be effective promoters of Spain, it's culture, economy, and communities. Others commented on how they were impressed by what a wide range of people they met with and that they made no exception when meeting with people who had been critical in the past.
Three phrases sum it up.
When at the automobile factory, Princess Letizia joked that she was not a very good driver. To which the President of the company responded, "Well, I don't know about that, but I do know that you are an excellent princess and that I am proud that you represent my nation."
One businessman was quoted as saying that Felipe is so well prepared and educated that were Spain a Republic he would vote for Felipe as President.
But according to another article, "Anyone with a Republic flag should just fold it up and put it away, because Felipe and Letizia have on their work clothes and they have seduced everyone, monarquists and republicans..."
By the way, who has membership to Colour Press? They have some photos of the this weekend, playing in the park with their nephews.
