Marriage Rules

michelleq said:
Who he marries is stipulated in his grandfather's will. They must be of Nobility, Aryan Line, and something else I can't think of at the moment. Supposedly, he is appealing to the German Courts.
But surely as his father Richard is the 6th Prince and Head of the Princely House of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, he can determine the Family Laws regarding marriages?

The German Courts have already upheld the legality of Family Laws when Prince Karl-Emich of Leiningen unsuccessfully challenged the Family Statutes in regard to his "unequal" marriage to Gabriele Thyssen [who later married the Aga Khan IV, and since divorced].

A similar situation occurred when Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia unsuccessfully challenged in court the Hohenzollern Family Laws regarding unequal marriages.

These Family Laws cannot prevent a legal marriage, they just state the conditions under which a person remains a Member of the House and who can succeed to the Headship of the House.

Perhaps Prince Richard doesn't wish to change the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg Family Laws.
.

The problem is that Richards father left the entire estate to Richards firstborn son, so Richard doesn't own the castle and all the rest, Gustav does. Therefore the rules laid down in the will can't be changed by Richard.

Even though Prince Gustav owns the Berleburg estate, Prince Richard is head of the house. Can't he decide to create (or better yet, Gustav's Aunt, Queen Margarethe) Gustav's future bride, noble for a day? Wasn't Princess Alexandra made a Princess days before her wedding? Wouldn't this be a way around the law? As for Protestant, that can be remedied by switching religion. As far as Nordic (Aryan) that can be challenged I'm sure.

Also, has Prince Richard or anyone of the family stated publicly the stipulations of the will?

This may be a really stupid question, but what happened?! Why did HM QMII take it back?
Nicolae Ceausescu, former President of Romania (Note: Awarded on the November 1980 State Visit to Denmark but revoked by the Queen on 12/23/89 for the first time in history. The insignia have been returned to Denmark and Ceausescu's name has been deleted from the Official Rolls)

Nicolae Ceausescu ended up becoming a dictator. More about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolae_Ceausescu

Princess Benedikte awarded a prize for best horsemanship (not sure of the exact event). She was accompanied by Prince Richard and Princess Nathalie.

Thank you for the photos. It's nice to see Princess Nathalie and Prince Richard. I like the group picture and the photo of Nathalie and the dog.

Thanks for the pictures pdas1201! :)

I agree with Alisa that it's nice to see more of Richard and Nathalie.

Richard looks very good. I am hoping that that means that his cancer is clearly in remission?
