Summary of article in Billed Bladet #19, 2015.
Written by our science reporter, Dorte Quist.

Yes, Joachim, went to the science fair in Copenhagen recently, where students from schools and high schools had gathered to present their projects.
During the two hours Joachim was there he and the Minister for Education managed to present no less than 100 prizes, give a speech and stroll around among the projects. This was indeed nerd country.
Joachim also had time to sit still for twenty minutes while he was 3D scanned.
In his speech he said: "You are the heroes of the future. You ask all the questions I cannot even imagine. Thank you for the gift you give my brain to work on".

Thanks, Iceflower. :)

Hands must go into the pockets. That is something even a perfect gentleman like Joachim cannot help. There is an overwhelming urge to kick the tires and they have to say something technical.

No matter how much gender egality we shall have, this is something women can never aspire to copy. It's in the chromosomes.
Even if Nigella Lawson walked by in her birthday suit, with a tray of beers, and slices of pizzas, we would still see the same behavior.

Thanks, Polyesco :)

Yes, Joachim was featured briefly on the news tonight.

The Suez Canal is essential for Danish commerce and that might also very well be a reason for Joachim's attendance.
10 % of the entire world merchant shipping is controlled by Denmark as such Mærsk shipping is the largest user of the Canal. - Which of course means that Danish shipping companies are very appreciated costumers by the Egyptians.

There's no such official information that he has any illness, so we can assume that all is fine.
And of course we should not speculate on such a sensitive topic..

I don't think it has anything to do with ilness. IMO (as a nurse) it's simply because of his lifestyle. Joachim smokes many cigarettes on a daily basis (and has done so the last 25 years or so), furthermore he don't (AFAIK) do any exercise etc. This can be seen on the human body - especially if compared to other royal men as older brother Frederik (who has quit the cigarettes and live a healthy active lifestyle) and looks years younger. The same with the other active princes like Haakon, Daniel, Carl-Phillip etc. It is not a criticism, but would be a logical answer for a nurse to come up with.

Now for one of the boring events that don't get much press, let alone coverage on the royal boards. Because they are done by royal men, wearing suits.
But these sorts of events are important, because this is about jobs and more importantly about creating jobs in a region that needs jobs.

As such Joachim visited the MAN Dielsen & Turbo test center in the town of Frederikshavn. Here they test the massive engines used in the larger ships, like container ships and tankers.
What is new is that the surplus energy more or less for the first time in the world is now used to heat 250 homes in the town. The engines that are being build and of courses also tested at this plant are pretty "small", while the plant only test larger engines. But it's the surplus energy from the production-tests that is used for heating and that's what Joachim was there to have a look at. And to put it into perspective about how small the engines are, he compared them to a Honda.
But Joachim was also allowed to start one of the big ones! That is, the thing didn't start... After another try the 14 tonne engine started with a roar.
Joachim, who has a keen interests in engines, albeit much smaller ones..., smiled broadly.

Another suit-event, but we are talking major export money here!

Thanks, but...

The poster reads: When it comes to safety, think Viking.

Eeeh, the Vikings ventured out into the Atlantic ocean without having any clue what was up ahead. In what was basically large open rowing boats with a detachable mast.
And when they landed they had a tendency to wield spears, swords, bazookes, axes and clubs looking for a fight.

- I'm not sure I have confidence in a safety manager who believe that's a safe way to do things! :ermm:

And Joachim has been to another largely unnoticed suit-event. Today he opened an exhibition with Thai crafts and art in Illum, a furnishing chain.
The purpose being that the DRF help promoting Thai art and other products for the home. - In return the TRF will help promoting Danish design in Thailand at some point.
