General news about Frederik, Mary and Family 3: August - November 2008
Welcome to the third thread for General News about Frederik, Mary and Family. The first thread can be found here.
This is the topic where you can post articles, links to videos, and other news stuff that might not fit anywhere else.
Of course, TRF Rules and FAQ still apply. - In order to legally post copyrighted material, you must obtain written permission from the copyright owner.
- No more than 20% of the text of an article can be posted, along with a link to the original article.
It's a copyright violation/infringement to post translations of entire articles. The best thing to do: Translate the article using your own words and summarize it. Just because other sites translate the entire articles, word for word, then proceed it post it -- you shouldn't. It's against the law! Furthermore, you don't want to be sued, handed a cease and desist, and be the one responsible for shutting down TRF forever, right? So please, follow the copyright rules and all shall be golden. Even if your translations may not be perfect, at least you tried and tried to get the gist of it. That's what is important.
- Hotlinking of content from other websites is not permitted.
- We expect our members to treat each other with respect.
So if you find something that may not fit anywhere else please post it here.
Enjoy and have fun!

I think the report says that Prince Henrik has decided to give the Castle and wine industry in Cahors, France to Frederik as Joachim already owns a castle (Schalkenborg ? Spelling). Fred can either let the wine industry continue and they can use the castle as their summer home. something to that effect.

Do you know if the wine is available for purchase? What is their wine called?

The most common one is called "Château de Caïx", but there are also others like "Les Marches de Caïx", "Le Prince de Caïx" and "Les Cepages de Caïx".
The wines are sold at a danish supermarked called Irma and some wineshops. I don't know wheter it is possible to bye them anywhere else or outside Denmark.

Thank you, Lilla! I love wine, and I think it would be nice to try their wines. Maybe I can find it online.

If you do mannage to get this wine online, if is important to know that they are best served with spicy food and they have to be left open to oxidise for a rather long period of time (2 - 4 hours).

PRINCESS Mary has reportedly infuriated her adopted country by fraternising excessively with Australian athletes at the expense of the Danes.
|
Danes 'complain about Princess Mary'
Why on earth would the Danes issue a formal complaint to the Australian Olympic Committe chariman? One would think they'd seek counsel within their own Olympic administrative branch. What's Mr Coates to say?...lol. I mean really.
Though ' if' Mary did not visit the Danish olympians (she may have, I don't know), then I'd find that to be rather lax on the Crown Princely couples behalf. If I were a Danish, then I'd be unamused if my Crown Princess didn't come to see me and my fellow olympians whilst representing our country.
Has, or did, Princess Benedike make a visit?

Apparently this story has just been disproved by the Danish Olympians and they said it was all nonsense.

(Given it's said to have been disproved, If the mods wish to remove these posts then that's fine by me)

I listened to your video in Australia and I've seen many videos of Frederik and Mary interacting with each other and the people of Denmark. I think you're trying to take credit for the changes that are already taking place in Denmark by suggesting they do exactly what they're doing now. How very clever!

I think what was said by the author of the book is correct: showing up and looking good is not enough for this job. This is what Mary does and she does it good. But she is not a model or a upper eastside charity lady. She is the future queen of a country. To me both her and Fred do not have the profile to be head of state. They are a nice , goodlooking couple but I doubt that they are made do represent a whole country.

They have done so for the last 1000 years. Slander and gossip about royals sells magazines, newspapers - and books

Enough of the discussion about the book, 1015 Copenhagen! If you wish to talk about head on over to the Royal Library sub-forum when the topic is re-opened later today!
This topic is reserved for General News about Frederik, Mary, and Family! In case you forgot the warning on page one by Empress:

Aussies sorry for filming Princess Mary
I hardly think Australia apologised to Denmark, rather, apologised for the miscommmunication. The Australian contingent can hardly be blamed for it. It was the seven network (the olympic network here in Australia) who happpened to be filming for a 'feel good' early morning chat show which focuses on the games, who willingly spoke with Mary and Frederik. And who, both of them, cordially obliged.
Still, these things happen I guess. A hazard of having two countries claim the one Princess.lol.

According til the danish newspaper BT, the story is one the australian newspaper Herald Sun has invented.
OL-kritik af Mary: Anklages for forræderi (Olympic criticism: Mary is accused of treason)
BT quotes the Head of communication, at the Danish Sports Union, for calling the story one big lie.
I would have thought, with all the stuff going on at the olympic it wouldn't be nessesary for the media to make up storyes. But I guss they simply can't help themselves .

Right, did no one read GlitteringTiaras warning above? If not let me reiterate! ENOUGH! This is a thread for General News regarding Frederik and Mary, not a thread where you can engage in personal attacks or snarky comments.
Furthermore, any discussion regarding a certain book should remain closed until the appropriate thread is reopened.
I've cleaned up this thread, and I hope that I do not have to close it. Please refrain from any more off topic comments.
