Coverage in the Danish media has plenty of evidence (quotes from oranisers and athletes) that Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visited the Danish Athletes at the Olympic Village first, and had lunch with the handball players. The Danish officials had asked the Australian contingent if they would also like a visit from the couple, and took Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary over to the Australian athletes at the end of their visit.
The only problem came when an impertinent Australian reporter assumed she could just shove a microphone and camera at them when they arrived, and start an impromptu interview. Television Stations are not supposed to film in the Olympic Village, and Mary and Fredrik had also stipulated that the visit with athletes should be private, and not a media event.
The original article has been rewritten to include these facts.

Mary has shown her true colors at the Olympics and, apparently, they aren't the red and white of the Dannenbrog.

If you go to this thread http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...3-a-18003.html you can find some links about how this is all untrue.

In the Internet, today, Billad-Bladat has a most loving picture of Mary and Frederik and, if my elementary use of a Danish-English dictionary hasn't led me astray, I think it says they are expected to stay together for ever. Amen to thaT!

You know what! In this case , I entirely agree with you. The press has made a huge something out of absolutely nothing. CP Mary has been loyally supporting all the Danish athletes in action and she has even on most occasions worn the Danish colours - red and white - to show her support for her new country!

The article mentions Charles&Diana, Joachim&Alexandra and states that divorces are very common in the western world nowadays,
even in the "best" society.
BB asks its readers whether they think F&M's love will last or break?
When I looked at the results it was: 90% love will last, 10% divorce.

You hear this in the US all the time. Hilary Clinton was criticized for not wearing a US flag pin. Somehow she was unpatriotic and didn't support the troops. How stupid. To say Mary is the same for not wearing the colors of Denmark at the Olympics is dumb too. Why does the media have to be so negative all the time? Don't we have enough to feel bad about?

I agree. The Australian Women's Weekly this month features an article where it quotes Frederik in 2005 stating emphatically that he would stay with Mary forever. It has pix from Fred's birthday biography this year, and it's a great read.

"In action" yes, but not privately apparently. Mary certainly partied with the Australian athletes and not with the Danes.

Apparently people are still jumping to false conclusions without knowing the facts.

Welll, yes but PR is all about "apparently"! The DRF have a PR machine, and they use it. If the DRF wish to counter the claims made by News Ltd, they would make use of any available pictures of Mary socialising with Danish athletes. As there are none in evidence, and many pictures of Mary socialising with the Australian team, it's valid to draw the conclusion that no pics of Mary with the Danish team were available later than the initial flag-raising ceremony - so they weren't really able to counter the News Ltd story.

Mary attended a 20th birthday celebration for an Australian athlete. She also attended support events for the Danish Olympians - there is a link posted somewhere that emphatically states that she did.

As many of you know I do not shy away from critizing the DRF. Just look at the 1015 København K-thread! Anyway on this occasion, I think we should cut CP Mary a little slack. So what, if she did party with the Aussies, but only showed up for the flag ceremony at the Danish camp? I don't think it is such a big deal.

Seriously, i think this Olympic issue with Mary is such really such a non-issue. It was a misunderstanding, that has already been said by the Danish party, what more is there to talk about?

As far as Mary goes I agree it is a non issue, she probably was not filmed when with the Danish team.
But from what I have been reading it is a more a case of poor security in the village, Danish officials were reported to have only complained about news teams being in the village when they should not be there. How did they get past security? I guess there will be more complaints about that in due course. Not a case of who they filmed but how they got in there in the first place..

Mary did have lunch with the Danish athletes, and there are photos of her with them. However, many Australians wanted pics w/ the CPC which is why there are so many. Mary has said she supports both Danes and Australians as they almost never meet in competition.
Mary is in Denmark now. She will fly to Australia with the children closer to the end of the Olympics. It is supposed to be a private visit with one public appearance at a small dinner for the Cardiac foundation.
