Seems a bit of an odd event to premier a new tiara at, thought she would have done so at The New Year Gala or a european royal event (wedding, anniversary etc)

I think it is best to debut a tiara at a relatively low key event.

Usually i don't like when a necklace is converted into a tiara. Often it tends to look nothing more than a necklace placed on a tiara-base. But this one looks lovely.

And finally Mary has an appropriate Diamond Tiara option.

Absolutely lovely.
Is this an existing tiara from the Queen or a new purchase?

Certainly not from the Danish royal vollection; this is probably a new purchase

Mary looks great in her new tiara, it suits her very well. I'm still trying to make up my mind about her dress - it looks like something Maxima would wear. On another board which I used to check on (which shall remain nameless) Mary got plenty of flak for the amount she spends on clothing. And just last week she was criticized for her many expensive handbags. Then there are the people who complain that she sells some of her old dresses at an upscale used clothing store. Personally, I think Mary recycles quite a lot, more than some other CP's. One of the USA's former First Ladies, Jacqueline Kennedy also sold some of her used dresses.

Since this was an event for culture and the arts, I had hoped that PH would attend. Apparently he has retired completely, not just 'slowed down.'

Is that the board where Mary gets criticised basically for breathing? ;)

Mary looks spectacular, and wow Frederik just keeps getting more and more handsome

Very elegant and dignified Crown Prince Couple.

this banquet has not been done in 7 years, so it was the perfect evening to take out the new tiara
more about the tiara, that she used as a collar for the Queen's 75th birthday

I think Mary has a full agenda and recycles quite a lot for a Crown Princess.

love this picture of the quest greeting the Queen with the Crown Prince to her right, first in line ;)

Love the new tiara! It looks very lovely. Hope Mary keep it as a tiara instead of a necklace.

That's the one. :bang:

Does anyone have an explanation for the suit worn by the gentleman in pic #4 in Roskilde's post @ 6:45 p.m.? Very...colorful :ermm:

Its so good to see Princess Nathalie, we haven't seen her for ages.

I think all ladies looked nice yesterday. Im glad that Mary wore the necklace as a tiara, it looks so good! I wish they would release information on the piece, it would be interesting to know where it originated from.

Thank you for all the pictures and videos.

Crown Princess Mary definitely surpised with her new tiara. Its always so wonderful to see new additions, especially if its something with timeless classic design. I also like the dress and its interesting design. Overall - Mary looked gorgeous and...soooo tanned.
Princess Marie - I want to like this dress but I think that the design makes it look too heavy for her frame. I'd say pretty boring look compared to Mary!
Her Majesty - somehow her tiara seems to get lost among her grey hair but her red dress looks so lovely.
Princess Benedikte looks fantastic. Love how that brooch was added to her dress. Such a beautiful and flawless look.

A gallery of the guests at the gala.

The guy in the bottom photo annoyed the H. out of me when he shuffled in to greet the DRF. One hand in the pocket all the time.
He was downright rude IMO!

You do not make a show about yourself when you are a guest, and certainly not at a gala. Especially if you are not even the guest of honor. That's snubbing the host! Any host.
There were 340 other guests who were all at least as accomplished as himself, so he was by no means anything special.

He may think the sun shines out of his behind but in my eyes it was bad manners - and even worse: stupid. :bang:

And while I'm at pet-aversions: Guests who are always "fashionably late" or who are late because "nothing happens anyway". No, nothing happens because everyone are waiting for you to arrive, so we can finally go to the table!
Fortunately there is a remedy for that sort of behavior. :D

i thought that was mary's wedding tiara! hope we get to know more about this piece. is it from the DRF's vault?

i like the intricate design of mary's dress. it's funny it dates from a spring 2014 collection - she must have bought it a long time ago and never got to use it? which makes us wonder how many fab dresses are there in the female royals wardrobes that were bought and we never got to see :)

I think royals (in general) have many private events where a dress like this can be worn and maybe that's why we haven't seen in public until now.

Fantastic night!

100% agree. She looks so happy and proud! and Frederik with that smile.
im glad the DRF shared these photos
"HRH The Crown Prince welcomed after dinner H. M. Queen up to the evening's first dance that took place in the Great Hall."

I wonder who Mary danced with?

A beautiful photo of a son dancing with his mother; I love this photo

Do you mean this photo? http://sn.dk/modules/xphoto/cache/69/779569_0_650_0_0_0_0_2.jpg

That´s John Kørner, the artist who did the wallpainting at the CPC´s palace. Yup, the painting with the soldiers getting (being?) bombed.
You can see the painting here: http://multimedia.pol.dk/archive/00508/k_rner_31-12-2010_D_508341a.jpg

OK, that explains it. Thank you. :flowers: I have seen pictures of that painting; on YouTube, there is a 10-minute film called 'Renovating a Palace in Copenhagen' that features the artwork in F&M's home.
