As you know Mary visited the VIA University College in Aarhus recently.
(See the galleries posted by Iceflower above, - and remember to thank her ).

Here all the educations within healthcare (except medicin) in Aarhus has been amalgamated into one complex.
2.500 students are studying here.

Among the things she was shown was how to make a nutricious and easy to make lunchbag. Asked about the content of the lunchbag she makes for her own children, she admitted: "They are not as advanced as those I see here. there is certainly room for improvement.
From here I've got a lot of inspiration".

Mary was told by one the students: "Children eat with their eyes and that's why it's important that the food has colors. At the same time as the food is healthy, it's desirable if it's sweet as well so we have also made our own choko-spread to put on the bread".

Mary was also shown how nurses deal with an acute heart failure.
In the sports hall, Mary was demonstrated how excersizes in balance are important for the psyce and body.
The visit ended in the advanced library of the school.

Mary will name a new frigate on the 7th November.

The naming will take place in the shipyard in Odense.

The pings will start to arrive from 09.45.

The generals will arrive from 10.20.

Mary will arrive at 10.35 and she will be saluted upon arrival.

The frigate will be named at 10.40.

Pictures will be taken at 10.55.

From 11.00 Mary and the generals will be taken on a tour of the frigate. - No press.

Nye fregatter
This is the third and final frigate of the Iver Huitfeldt class. - In contrast to previous frigates in the Danish navy (which were really heavy destroyers) these ships are designed to operate far away from Danish territory in coperation with the multi-purpose ships Absalon (who is now on her way to the coast off Somalia) and Esbern Snare.
The ironic thing with this third frigate is that is was ordered before the economic crisis, since then there has been cutbacks. So it is likely she will be leased to another NATO country who happens to need a new frigate now. Canada. even more ironically, springs to mind.
Canada recently revised it's military capacity in the arctic, not least because Danish warships were sailing in circles around Hans Island, between Canada and Greenland. Canada reached the unpleasant conclusion that they basically, due to cutbacks, had very little to enforce sovereignty in the arctic. - And Canada happens to be in the need of frigates in that area.
As such it's not unlikely we'll see this frigate flying a canadian flag along side one of her sisterships, flying the Danish flag.

Mary looked great.

Niels Juel is a good name. That was the name of an admiral. All the largest fighting ships in the Danish navy are traditionally named after naval heros.

The crest of the ship was like her name approved by QMII herself.
Notice the female officer in the background, she has three deployments under her belt. Probably to Somalia.
And the coast off Somalia and similar places far away from Denmark, is where Niels Juel was supposed to have been deployed. Now, due to cutbacks she's somewhat superflous and she will probably be leased by another navy. Two candidates are the Dutch and the Canadian navy.

Thanks for this Muhler, I will watch out for the news. Our Prime Minister is indeed anxious to increase spending for our much underfunded Navy (btw we have one again and it is now ok to say Royal Canadian Navy) but seeing as a contract for new frigates has been given to shipyards in Halifax and Vancouver, I am not confident the Danish frigate will join our navy.

Notice when she is announcing the name of the frigate. She says: "Her Majesty the Queen has resolved (resolveret) that the ship shall have the name Niels Juel". She has a distinct accent but to me she pronounces "resolveret" like a native. - I've noticed it before, in the middle of a sentence she pronounce a word in crystal clear Danish without accent.

And Mary was much more certain about what to do this time. You may recall that she was slightly hesitant when she named the Home Guard vessel in Kalundborg. - Practise makes perfect.
Looking at her you'd be forgiven for believing she was born a princess.

- Some use the argument that Mary and people like her aren't real royalty. She only married into her position. Well, I don't find that point entirely valid. All royal families, all dynasties, started with the first one - who wasn't a royal or noble.

It's good you have a "real" Canadian navy again. It has a very proud history for such a young navy.

Judging from her mastery of Danish and that she obviously thinks in Danish I'd say she speaks Danish almost all the time now. - I remember some of you commented that Mary seems to have to switch from Danish to English, even when speaking English, as was the case recently at the UNICEF centre.

My guess is that she sometimes went almost "schizophrenic" when watching a programme/film in English, since they are all subtitled. She'll inevitably be reading and listening at the same time.
At least for the first few years, until her profficiency in reading Danish became so good, she automatically reads and listen effeortlessly at the same time.

I do wonder who was number 7 Billion.

It was Danica May Camacho, a girl born in Manilla, Philippines on October 30/31 around midnight.
Of course she's not been the number 7 Billion, as you can't count that for sure, it's been a symbolic
selection. Journalists and UN officials have visited the girl and her parents and presented them a
scholarship for later studies.

I heard that there were three "symbolic" babies and one "true" (haha) 7 billionth baby, a girl named Nargis Kumar, born in India. Read article...

The Crown Princess looks lovely. Billed-Bladet says that Mary has a cold, and blew her nose a couple times. Alas, so do I, and it's not a nice one! Hope she gets better soon.

Apparently both mentioned babies are being considered for the Seventh Billion Baby title. Where did you hear that Danica got money from the UN? I personally think that isn't right.

On the Day of Seven Billion, the group Plan International symbolically marked the birth of the 7 billionth human with a ceremony in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh where a birth certificate was presented to a newly born baby girl, Nargis, in order to protest sex-selective abortion in the state. The Indian girl to boy ratio for 0–6-year-olds is at 914 girls per 1000 boys nationwide, with Uttar Pradesh's one of the lowest at 889 girls for every thousand boys.
Other babies selected include Danica Camacho, of Manila in the Philippines and Wattalage Muthumai, of Colombo, Sri Lanka

One last comment, then I'll stop.
1; I don't think that child or her family should have received any money simply for being born at the right time.
2; All the articles I have read say that Danica is one of the seven UN chosen symbolic babies, so why she has been singled out to receive such attention and money is unfair IMO. You should read the stories about the Six Billionth baby who the UN abandoned.
3; A little note, I find it strange that the 5th, 6th and 7th Billionth babies all seem to be born in perhaps third world countries. America, UK, European countries don't seem bothered in that competition.

The weather is comparatively mild right now, so she could do without a coat for such a visit. And having children at Christian and Isabella's age who go to pre-school and kindergarden, you are at a permanent risk of catching colds - I know from experience. Warm clothes doesn't help that unfortunately.

You may recall that Mary recently named a new frigate in Odense.
She was wearing a red coat from Diane von Furstenberg and Louboutin shoes.

However this frigate will be the last ship build at this shipyard and that meant that the festivities were mixed with sad feelings, not least for the specialists and workers who worked on the ship. They along with everybody else had red sausages and fizzy-water which acted as funeral-beer (*) for the occasion.
Mary chatted with some of the workers: "Are you the ones who have worked on this ship. - That's really a nice piece of work". Mary was dressed in her best and the workers were wearing their work clothes, right down to the hard hats. - All worn with pride.
When Mary left them, one of them said: "Say hello to Frederik".

(*) Funeral beer (gravøl = litterally grave-beer). As you can probably guess that's an ancient costum here in DK and it is still very much used not least in rural areas.
After a funeral, those who have attended the service are invited for coffee and cookies afterwards - and a wee dramm or two as well.
Beforehand, they were treated to beer, sometimes a lot of it! Called "drinking funeral beer".
So the whole thing is often referred to as funeral beer. - And if the mood is good with the deseased remembered fondly, it's referred to as having been a "good funeral beer".
