Summary of article in Billed Bladet #24, 2015.
Written by our sports reporter Ulrik Ulriksen.

Frederik went to the town of Taastrup, where he visited Selsmose school, where there was an excersize event for the volunteer organization FitforKids.

FitforKids very much aim at more or less obese children. The purpose being to getting the children to become physically active, thus losing weight and getting healthier and as a bonus get more self esteem.
Frederik was shown around and saw the children running around burning calories and being the man he is, he also easily interacted with the children who asked him questions.
That meant he talked about himself, what sport and healthy living means to him and so on.
Among other things he said: "If I am to say so myself, I believe I'm very good at training. Each time I have to go training, it should preferably be fun. I have tried all sorts of different sports and I'm very curious even though I'm 47 years old".

He told the children how important it to be physically active and eat healthy if you want to feel good and be glad and he told the children he thought they were cool.

He added: "I don't think I'm too old to try something new. Obviously something like parkeour is perhaps a little difficult for but otherwise I'm pretty open.
But, well, I still like to play soccer and road cycling (I.e. like Tour de Epo... sorry, Tour de France) that I like and I've started on triathlon. It gives me many happy hours.
I was fond of being active when I was a boy. It was great to be in school and running around in the recess and even though I went to school in downtown Copenhagen and we had a school yard that wasn't very spacious, it was still fun just to get out and play catch. I still recall that clearly as something that made me glad.
My own children like to do excersize and both I and my wife (informal word) like to come out and get the blood running.
Our children often see me and my wife (informal) put on the sports clothes and whizz away on a trip across fields and roads and I can sense that the children think it's good that we do it. And they certainly like too to be out running.
If you ask them yourself, they think they are really good and fast runners.
And just like you they are also glad to go outside and play or have a fun time like here in a gymnasium (*).
The more children your are together, like your classmates, the more fun they think it is. Just like you do.
And then they along with the classmates start a round of softball or soccer for example".

Frederik was met and followed with great and big enthusiasm by the children, all the way out to the car in fact! Just before reaching the car a boy came up to shake his hand.

(*) Oddly enough the English word for a hall where you perform calisthenics, a gymnasium, is the Danish word for a high school.

Today, Frederik presents the ELFORSK Research Prize in connection with the 'Energy Summit 2015', Copenhagen.

The Energy Summit is an annual event that focuses on energy and green solutions.

Today, we have general election here in Denmark and the media are filled to the brim with it, so today's event may of course be quite overshadowed by that.

But even there's election Frederik can easily do his work as Frederik and the rest of the Danish royal family do not vote and are (official) nonpolitical.

He looks fit the good Frederik. :bb:

My belt suggests I should start cycling too... Buuut, the prospect of blisters in my... eh, to the rear, is not particularly alluring. And it's raining too and there is always next week...

Tomorrow, Sunday afternoon Frederik will attend the DGI World Team show ORBITA. In the Opera, Copenhagen:
H.K.H. Kronprinsen overværer DGI Verdensholdets show ORBITA kl. 14.00 - Kongehuset

I think there's a good chance he will bring his two oldest, Christian and Bella to that event. But we will see...

In the evening Frederik and Mary will for the seventh year in a row attend the Reumert awards show - it will be transmitted live on one of DR's channels.

No Christian, Bella, Vincent or Josephine though, but a handsome Crown Prince Frederik to DGI's World Team's show this afternoon in the Opera:

He might. But if so chances are he will choose the army uniform, as the army special forces have their base at Air Station Aalborg.
BTW that's also where he qualified for his jumpwings.

Thanks Polyesco,

In case you can't translate.. The gymnasts and Frederik asked each other a lot of questions at the event. The gymnasts would like to know whether Frederik could make a flip flop (a handspring)?
- No, I can't... but I can make a cartwheel :p

thank you Roskilde :flowers:
google translate helps a bit but I was always appreciate the translations from members who actually speak and read the language :flowers:

cartwheels? now we know who taught Isabella lol

You are welcome, Polyesco.

But I know you can a little bit of Danish, eh?

ADDED:

I have just watched the TV news with live transmission from Frederik's event.
And Polyesco, Frederik looked very great wearing his uniform ;)

It's the Frogman Corps and the Special Forces which are being merged. (If I understood it correctly)

That's correct, all the special units will come under one special command.
That will I presume also include the special long range reconnaissance patrols from the Home Guard and the Sirius Patrol as well as bodyguards.

The army special forces (Jægerkorpset) and the navy special forces, the Frogman Corps are not being merged. Instead they will share equipment, buy special equipment, train and share some training facillities with eachother. The aim of course being to save money.

I mentioned the bodyguards, because eventhough they belong the Military Intelligence Service (FET), directly under the Defence Command, the people serving as bodyguards very much come from the two special forces.
They protect the Defence Chief, but also VIP's, ambassadors and sometimes embassies abroad. But also in more unsafe areas, members of the DRF. The FET agents usually being a lot heavier armed and much more aggressive than the police officers from PET.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #26, 2015.
Written by Henrik Salling.

Frederik recently attended the school olympics in Copenhagen. And here he started the two kilometer race. - But old (military) habits die hard I see from a picture in the article. Frederik held the starter gun in a standard two hand stance, rather than with one hand as most would naturally do.
The winner of the race, thirteen year old Japhet Bifulu Bamba, who ran in 6 minutes 44 seconds, thus setting a new record, was congartulated by Frederik.

It's not only certain members of this forum... who are crazy about Frederik. The girls milled around him to get a high five from Frederik as well as countless selfies.
Frederik talked about how much sports means to him and expressed his delight that his fondness of sports also has rubed off on at least his two oldest chidlren: "I don't have to kick them out of bed during weekend. They are happy to get out themselves".
Frederik mentions in another article that Christian now attends callistenics.

Thank you, Polyesco. :)

Yes, the navy full dress uniform your Frederik is wearing is indeed stylish.
I see he brought along two of his mother's adjutants, one from the army and one from the navy.

The word "flot" is often a problem to translate. I know from experience!
But beautiful? That one is new! Neat, handsome, nice or good looking are better general translations for that word.

Now back to the serious...
Our Crown Prince inspected the troops and looked much interested on from the first parquet when the command SOKOM was handed over to the new commander, Major General Jørgen Høll, by the Defense Chief, General Peter Bartram.

The special interest may be related to the Crown Prince himself took part of his military training with the Frogman Corps where he completed the very tough training under the nickname Pingo.

Frederik served in the maritime elite unit in 1995 and it has never been a secret that he has a penchant for the Navy - just like his grandfather King Frederik also had.

Now the question; Is the badge on his right breast his Frogman insignia?

That's an interesting question, Marg.

They are air/pilotwings of some sort, but I can't tell without a close up.
They are not jumpwings though. Frederik usually wear the freefall jumpwings, but perhaps there is something he isn't telling us? :p

The Frogman Corps insignia looks like this: http://militarybadgecollection.com/wp-content/gallery/dk-special-forces/DHR%20402,%20Froemandskorpset,%20bronze,%20type%202.JPG
http://militarybadgecollection.com/...ces/Danish Special Boat Service 60 x 90mm.JPG
The army special forces insignia looks like this and this one is worn on the beret: http://militarybadgecollection.com/wp-content/gallery/dk-special-forces/DHR 142, Jaegerkorpset.JPG

So can someone supply a close up of Frederik?

Notice the seamen with the red helmets. They are aspirants for the Frogman Corps. They no doubt appreciate this parade as they are allowed the luxury of standing still for an extended period.
Unless ordered so or unless the service requires it, they are not allowed to stand still or walk outside their barrack. All movement is on the run and if say waiting outside the mess they must do double-time on the spot.
After having completed 25 push-ups (and that happens often!) they must always thank their instructor for giving them this extra opportunity to strengthen their weak bodies.
As such the standard 25 push-ups are in the Frogman Corps referred to as "rewards".

Not so in the army special forces, they can be more psychologically mean towards their aspirants. Sometimes when an aspirant has screwed up the instructor tell the aspirant to meter out the punishment himself. With the aspirant knowing the instructor assess him on how he reacts, but not in which way!
Or they order all the aspirants to line up at the edge of a fire basin with ice-cold water, and tell them: "Those who believe they didn't do well enough, take one step forward".

might it have to do with his new military ranks?

I can look at pictures of Frederik in his naval uniform all day, so i will keep looking ha ;)

:previous: It's an aviator badge or pilot wings if you like, of that I'm certain.
I.e. Frederik is a qualified pilot with some sort of addition, presumably referring to what kind of aircraft it is.

It's the bottom part of the wings that puzzle me, I've never seen that before.
The bottom part "hanging" beneath the wings is the key.

I wonder if he is qualifying as a drone operator. That's a new branch and they could very well have a new badge, or rather a variant of the standard aviator badge.

I had a PM exchange with PM and AFAIR Frederik qualified for basic pilot training when he was young, right?

:previous: Thanks, FasterB.

To be certain I checked all 77 "uddannelsestegn" and there is no doubt is is a pilot/aviator wing he is wearing.
But this specific variant is not listed.

The first thing that crossed my mind was that Frederik had taken a crash course in the new Blackhawks to be delivered to the navy shortly. But Frederik (IIRC) only took a basic flying course in a fixed wing aircraft and a helicopter, let alone a helicopter as advanced as a Blackhawk, is way out of Frederik's league. So are the Fennec and EH101.
So that leaves the drones as a plausible option IMO.

Se billederne: Kronprins Frederik viste uniformen frem - Billeder på Avisen.dk

While looking at the badge from different angles, in the link supplied y FasterB, I read the sidebar in which stated:

here was celebration today at Aalborg Air Base, where the new unified command for frogmen and commandos were selected. The new joint entity will be called Special operations command. The management of the new command, which is placed at Aalborg Air Base. Crown Prince Frederik was present at the celebrations. He has served in both the Army, Air Force and Navy, and he is an officer of all forces.
So, if the Frogmen and Commandos are now joined, could this be the new badge?

No, see the general behind Frederik in this picture. The man with maroon beret: http://imageservice.nordjyske.dk/im...fb0611.jpg?width=880&scale=both&bgcolor=black
He is the commander of the joint special forces command and he is wearing the badge of that command on his beret. Where it is always placed.

Skill badges are placed on the right side of the chest in DK. Had say Frederik attended a commando course (akin to the American Ranger Course), he might have worn such a skill badge on his chest. But Frederik is a Frogman in his own right and is entitled to wear the beret of that unit, complete with the Frogman badge on his beret.

So what Frederik is wearing on his right chest are skills acquired within the military but not to a specific unit. Hence why he used to wear the jumpwings.

Look at this very HQ pic of Joachim: https://app.box.com/s/c0tpla3x8oz270x6j9phzlyaanv0abu3
Above his right breast pocket are his static line jumpwings.
On the pockets are five skill badges.
And the H, referring to Prinsens Livregiment (The Prince's Own Life Regiment) that has been amalgamated into Jutland Dragoons to which Joachim belongs now. Because that was the oldest regiment - and the the oldest Danish regiment at all.

Here is a picture of Frederik: https://app.box.com/s/v1kybo37zvvk2k3ab486stcmzmgg1vr0
Here wearing the free fall jumpwings.
(In the navy you don't wear army skill badges.
And in the navy it is expected that your skills comes with your rank and experience, so no need to show off...).

https://app.box.com/s/huheiurqmo6quw2b72h90zx6cod9gac7
Frederik in the air force full dress uniform.
Here he is wearing the air force wings over his breast pocket, but his pilot wings on his right sleeve.
- And these wings are not entirely identical to the wings worn a few days ago.
So the conclusion as I interpret it, is that he has acquired some sort of aviator skill recently.

I think I have it!

I noticed another naval officer standing among the staff officers in the background. He has an identical badge on his chest as Frederik.
And having had a closer look at badge of Air Station Aalborg, what he and Frederik could very well wear is the metal unit wings of Air Station Aalborg HQ.

The officer because he is attached to the air station from the navy.
Frederik because he is showing respect for the host, Air Station Aalborg.

So if I'm right in my revised conclusion, these are not pilot wings but parade-HQ-wings.

Why can't the navy do like the army? Keep it simple. :ermm: It's all that sea-air you know, affects the brain. :p

Still need a close-up to be sure though.

I sent a query to the Royal House about HRH CP Frederik's wings badge and this is the response that I received!

The badge worn by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik is from the Danish Navy Frogman Corps (eqv. SEALs). It is the Corps’ wings.

Kind regards,

Christine Heinen
