Brilliant, thank you very much, Paty.

Here is a short news clip from today's event.

DRWs has more information, via their sources such as Politken, regarding Frederik's visit to Charlottenborg Art Museum.

... and, no, the image is not photoshopped.

According to media here, Frederik has been invited - and accepted - to greet the Danish male handball team who yesterday won the European championship in Norway. Right now, they are preparing a reception at the City Hall of Copenhagen with live coverage by TV2.

Seems to be on TV2 Sputnik (TV 2 Sputnik) - but it requires registration and a fee...

Frederik arrived a couple of minutes ago, waived a couple of times and entered the city hall building; the handball team has just arrived and is being greeted by thousands of well-wishers on the city hall square.

Thank you Paty - its a BIG day for all handball lovers in the country, I can tell you

OH! I didn´t know that that handball was so popular in the Scandinavian countries.

Spain was Subchampion of Europa but unfortunately we were eliminated against Sweden 27-26 in the last minute!!!

Congratulations again

Thanks

Frederik did not give a speech as such but greeted each player; he has just left the city hall and was interviewed shortly by the journalist from TV2. He said among other things that last night he had been 'fighting' with his son - whether they were going to watch cartoons or the handball finals - and that his son did not win this time!

Congrats to Denmark for their win.

Userdane, can handball be compared to the NBA Finals, the Superbowl, and/or the World Series (baseball) in Denmark? Is it that big?

You can watch an interview with Frederik here, read an article here and here. Finally to see more images here.

Enjoy

Handball is big here as well as in the rest of Scandinavia - even though the Danish handball federation is worried about a somewhat declining membership (but this win will undoubtedly boost it). The most important sport after football I'd say; when I was a child living in the country, there was hardly any swimming facilities and very few other sports facilities - but you could almost always find a place to play football or handball

The handball team was today treated to the same reception by 'official Denmark' as the Danish footballers after their surprising victory at the European Football Championship in 1992 - only the handballers got to shake hands with a royal as well

Thanks for the info, Userdane.

Here is an article and photos series about Frederik's engagement today at the Royal Mint and National Bank (mentioned earlier in this topic.)

And like the footballers in 1992 - on their flight home to Denmark they were escorted by two F16 fighter jets.

Poor Frederik it seems we forgot about him, so here's a head's up as what he will be doing for the next couple of days:

He is still Regent, which will end tonight. After that it's back to Miami for the Crown Prince. He'll participate in another sailing race from March 3-9.

Prior to that Frederik participated in the 350th Anniversary of the Rosklide Peace Treaty. DRWs has the full report so click the link to see what actually happened.

For more information click the DRF calender for March 2008, which can be found in the Royal House of Denmark sub-section.
