I think it might have to do with the fact that Denmark has a weak spot regarding this princess, er, countess.
After all, then years ago when Joachim brought her home, she was the first princess in a new generation, and it took years for the MArys, Letizias and Masima's of the world to materialize. For a great good while, Alexandra was, well, it. So perhaps they feel a huge loyalty towards this woman. And Henri M., of course, she, too, was an ambassador for Denmark. All functional royals are de facto ambassadors for their constituents. That's part of their role. |

Alexandra's government allowance has been discussed ad nauseam and we can discuss it until the cows come home and it won't make one bit of difference. I read the same comments and remarks that I've read in previous threads. It's time to move on. This is after all a current events thread.
Unless there is a change in Alexandra's allowance, this conversation is closed. All posts related to this issue will be deleted without notice. Happy posting! Mandy Danish Forum Moderator

She has travelled to a lot of different countries to visit people who need help. (Like tsunami victims, etc.) These people would not only remember that a Princess has visited them and listened to them, but also a princess from "Denmark" has visited them. When Alexandra gave speeches for UNICEF in New York, people also remember that a princess from "Denmark" has given a speech to them. I agree with what Princess Olga said. Thanks to Princess Diana and the Duchess of York ( Sarah Furgerson) many commmoners who have joined by marriage the Royals have learned to be discreet. The world is a stage and we are the actors. "To thine ownself be true"![]() |

Okay, I guess.
Nonetheless, I would like to argue that commoners who have married into royalty, prior to two you have mentioned, tended to be quite discreet. |

I think Henri meant that Alexandra was not officially an ambassador for Denmark. Denmark has a professional corps of diplomats that pay respects to the Queen.
Alexandra, when she was royal, performed the functions of Danish royalty. There is a difference between the functions of royalty and the functions of a state's ambassors. Now she is no longer royal and she has professed desire for a private life so we shall see what the future has in store for her. I daresay based on her own wishes, her new life will be different than the life she led as a royal.

We hadn't reached the age of reality TV and Jerry Springer yet. Right now society is so poised towards showing all your secrets, I daresay that both aristocrats and commoners are far more open than either class was previously.

From what I have seen and read, Alexandra did a wonderful job representing the Danish Royal Family. It appears to me she wants to move on and start a new life.

The Danish magazine Billed-Bladet has exclusive photos of Countess Alexandra, Martin and the two boys on their honeymoon in paradise. The magazine did not say exactly where they are, but from the looks of the photos its some place warm, tropical, and beautiful.
The couple look extremely happy and relaxed while the boys seem to be enjoying the warm sun. Read more and see the photos here. |

Alexandra plays down pregnancy rumours
hello has a spread too. i find it odd the boys have to dress alike on a beach! i could understand the wedding and even official photos and events, but the beach. i suppose it was a planned photo op or something but still, the adults are dressed "beachy" why not the boys, they look dressed for school. they all look happy and relaxed :). Billedgalleri - Alexandras bryllupsrejse ... Billed-Bladet: Danmarks Royale Ugeblad... what a gorgeous photo, omg what a heartbreaker he's going to be. |

However, I can´t tell the age difference from the pictures of this couple. Martin looks more mature than he actually is, and Alex looks much younger than she actually is. I wish I will have her figure when I am at her age! Did any magazine interviewed her and revealed how she keeps her figure? BTW, I am also wondering if Alexandra naturally attracts younger men. Prince Joachim was born in 1969. Last edited by Warren; 03-17-2007 at 11:51 AM. Reason: merged 3 posts |

if you people are really that upset, you should make big noise to elected officials in demark. in any democratic country, no policy is unchangable. and i'll even consider it noble if a government is willing to admit its mistake and make it right. if such thing happens, the royal family will have to pay up itself if they don't want to be taken to court by alexandra. it's obvious the only reason that alexandra didn't demand annual spousal support is because that she got the money from the danish government instead!
