As it was a short interview, I can provide a translation later. His Royal Highness talke about how the monarchist can preserve Brazilian monarchical and Christian values and about how the monarchist movement is becoming popular among young people.

A month has already passed since the wedding of Princess Amélia and James Spearman.

I can't believe Her Royal Highness is already thirty years old and married, I remember when she was just a little girl and the Imperial Family attended the special sessions held every year at Rio de Janeiro Câmara City Council to celebrate the Head of the Imperial House's birthday. Then I was just a teenager accompanying my parent.

Gosh, time flies and I'm really getting old.

Anyway, to mark the occasion, Causa Imperial published a beautiful picture of the couple and a very nice text:

Interviews with the family of Prince Antonio

During the 24th Monarchist Meeting of Rio de Janeiro (which took place on September 6th), Causa Imperial, the main source of brazilian monarchist news and propaganda on Internet, interviewed Prince Antonio, Princess Christine, Prince Rafael and Princess Maria Gabriela.

Prince Antonio talked about how the monarchists must act in order to preserve the monarchical and Christian values of Brazil, that are threatened by the country's radical left wing.

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=771190792919988&set=vb.140092569363150&type=2&theater

Princess Christine (neé Princess of Ligne, born in Belgium and a first-cousin of The Grand Duke of Luxembourg) talked about the examples the Brazilian Monarchy, if restored, could take from the European Monarchies.

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=771342796238121&set=vb.140092569363150&type=2&theater

Prince Rafael talked about his impressions of the current Monarchist Movement in Brazil (which is getting strong) and how he's in getting prepared to eventually assume the Headship of the Imperial House of Brazil and possibly the Headship of the State.

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=772873002751767&set=vb.140092569363150&type=2&theater

Princess Maria Gabriela talked about the example left by her late paternal grandmother, The Princess Mother of Brazil (neé Princess Maria of Bavaria; 1914-2011) and how she sees her role as a Princess of Brazil.

Out of curiosity: does he consider president Rousseff as radical left? The election campaign has been rather pollarising from what I hear and read from several Brazilian friends.

Thanks for the update btw! Princess Christine looks very graceful. Does she have an accent while speaking Portuguese?

You're welcome, Marengo.

He certainly does consider her radical left (not as radical as one of the other candidates, Luciana Genro, from PSOL, but still). But I agree with the Prince. Rousseff has a handfull of dictators as her allies. The majority of the monarchists I know voted for Senator Neves (as half of country did).

And yes, Princess Christine does have an accent, but she speaks Portuguese very well. Any portuguese speaker would be able to understand her.

On the 13th, Prince Antonio and Princess Christine were present at a diner in honor of Titia Vellenga - representative of The European Fine Art Fair in Brazil. The diner took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Afonso Assis, in São Conrado, Rio de Janeiro. Their Royal Highnesses went accompanied by their youngest daughter, Princess Maria Gabriela, and their niece, Princess Alix of Ligne.

Also present were Princess Maritza of Orleans-Braganza - the wife of Prince Alberto of Orleans-Braganza, younger brother of Prince Luiz, Head of the Imperial House of Brazil - and Prince João Henrique of Orleans-Braganza, who went with his morganatic wife, Mrs. Claudia de Orleans e Bragança.

There's nothing wrong with your eyes, Princess Alix does have a huge scar on her arm.

It's a burn scar, but I don't know how she got it. If you google Alix de Ligne, you'll be able to see it better.

About Prince Rafael

I forgot to post this, but I think it contribute to the discussion we were recently having about the equal marriages of the Imperial Family and suitable brides for Prince Rafael.

Recently the official facebook page of the Imperial House said the Prince feels he's still young to get married and he's also establishing himself at his work field - production engineering.

The Imperial House also said Prince Rafael knows a lot of princesses (as he's related to many of them) and is totally willing to fulfill his obligation of marrying equally. According to the Imperial House, when the Prince feel he's ready to get married, the monarchists will have a reason to celebrate.

-------

Well, let's hope he'll be able to find a young girl he loves to build a family with him.

Causa Imperial has published excerpts of the interviews they made with Prince Rafael and Princess Maria Gabriela, accompanied by new pictures of the siblings.

Prince Rafael talked about his belief that the Head of State must always serve the people and that he'll always be there to serve the Brazilian people, no matter what.

Princess Maria Gabriela talked about how she sees her role as Princess of Brazil, saying she tries to be an example, following the values of her Family.

The pictures:

Thank you, Marengo!:flowers:

Great pictures. Prince Antonio and Princess Christine are a wonderful couple, and I'm sure they'd do just fine as Emperor and Empress of Brazil.

Princess Christine gave an interview to the most recent edition of monarchist magazine Herdeiros do Porvir [Heirs of the Future].

Her Royal Highness talked about growing at the Chateau de Beloeil (Belgium), about her family, the Princely House of Ligne, her marriage with Prince Antonio and subsequently moving to Brazil, the raising of her four children, her charity work and her involvement with the Brazilian Monarchist Movement.

For the first time ever, Prince Antonio (who is a renowed aquarellist) painted a portrait of his great-great-grandfather, Emperor Pedro II of Brazil (1825-1891). His Royal Higness do not have the habit of painting people, as he prefers to paint landscapes, but he once painted a portrait of his youngest daughter, Princess Maria Gabriela.

It seems Prince D. Rafael, the only surviving son of Prince D. Antônio de Orléans e Bragança and of Princess Christine de Ligne, is in a relationship with Miss Talita Vaccaro, an actress and event organizer. She is not noble or royal.

Of course it is all quite premature and we have seen that relationships not always lead to marriages (see the British Prince Harry linked to Chelsey Davy, Cressida Bonas, etc.). The question is: what will happen in case Prince Rafael marries Miss Vaccaro?

Actual line of succession

1. Prince D. Luís Gastao de Orléans e Bragança (1938)
2. Prince D. Bertrand de Orléans e Bragança (1941)
3. Prince D. Antônio de Orléans e Bragança (1950)
4. Prince D. Rafael de Orléans e Bragança (1986)
5. Princess D. Maria Gabriela de Orléans e Bragança (1989)

Imagine that Prince D. Rafael intends to marry his girlfriend, an act which has -so far- resulted in the loss of dynastic rights. That will mean his sister Princess D. Maria Gabriela becoming the future Chef of the Brazilean House? To keep this "Orléans" or "Bragança" she could then marry with a French or Portugese Prince.

Princess D. Maria Gabriela is 7 years older than Prince D. Afonso de Santa Maria de Bragança, eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Bragança née De Herédia, see picture:

There are really not that many options left to keep the Brazilean House Orléans e Bragança "in the family" (except marrying someone else from the wider imperial family). The closest age gap is with Prince D. Afonso de Santa Maria which brings the prospect of uniting the Houses of Brazil and Portugal in one hand...

No one knows what will happen, but I don't think asking him to renounce his title and rights would be the wisest idea.

Actual line of succession

4. Prince D. Rafael de Orléans e Bragança (1986)
5. Princess D. Maria Gabriela de Orléans e Bragança (1989)

Actually, the line of succession has a few more names:

6. Princess Isabel of Brazil (b. 1944).
7. The Princess of Ligne (b. 1953).
8. The Hereditary Prince of Ligne (b. 1989).
9. Princess Alix of Ligne (b. 1984).

After them, the Headship of the Imperial House can be claimed by descendants of Princesses Leopoldina (Princess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Duchess of Saxe by marriage; 1847-1871), Januaria (Princess of the Two-Sicilies and Countess of Aquila by marriage; 1822-1901) and Francisca (Princess of Orleans and of Joinville by marriage; 1824-1898) who have Brazilian citizenship. If I'm not mistaken, there around forty individuals who can claim the Brazilian Throne.

If Princess Maria Gabriela becomes the direct heiress, she'd never be allowed to marry the heir of another dynasties. History tells us that Brazilians don't like to share their Sovereign with another country, as Emperor Pedro I (1798-1834) was not allowed to be King of Portugal and keep the Crown of Brazil.

Yes, but there is no Emperor in Brazil and there is no King in Portugal. It is most unlikely that ánd in Brazil, ánd in Portugal, at the same time the monarchies will be restored...

A marriage of D. Maria Gabriela de Orléans e Bragança e Ligne, Princess of Brazil with D. Afonso de Santa Maria de Bragança e Herédia, Prince of Beira, Duke of Barcelos would be spectacular and rejuvenate the Brazilean and Portugese case.

There's no Emperor of Brazil or King of Portugal, but I'm sure the Brazilian monarchists wouldn't like to share the Head of the Imperial House with Portugal.

In my opinion, the most suitable husband for Princess Maria Gabriela would be a minor royal or noble willing to live and raise their children in Brazil.

Yesterday it was Princess Amélia's 31st birthday. Even though she's not a member of the Imperial Family anymore, Causa Imperial, the major monarchist page on Facebook, paid tribute to Her Royal Highness.

Also, according to Causa Imperial, Princess Amélia and James have moved from London to Madrid, where she's working as an architect.

On Easter, Prince Antonio and Princess Christine attend Mass at the Parish of Saint Rita of Cascia and then distribute chocolate and other gifts amongst the girl who live in the orphanage that belongs to the Parish.

Yesterday, it was the 127th anniversary of the signing of the Golden Law, by Princess Isabel (1846-1921), then Princess Imperial and Regent of Brazil, abolishing slavery in Brazil.

The Church of the Imperial Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Benedict of the Black Men, in Rio de Janeiro, celebrate a thanksgiving Mass in honor of Princess Isabel and the Golden Law.

Representing the Imperial Family, Prince Antonio (great-grandson of Princess Isabel) and his wife, Princess Christine, were present.

Prince Antonio hold a speech and Princess Christine was presented with camellias, the flower which is symbol of the Brazilian abolitionist campaign of the 19th century (Princess Isabel was called the Princess of the Camellias).

The process of beatification of Princess Isabel has already been opened by the Vatican.

On Saturday, Prince Antonio and Princess Christine were official guests, as representatives of the Imperial Family, at the celebration of the bicentennial of the city of São João Nepomuceno, on the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

The presence of the couple was an allusion to the fact that Prince Antonio's great-great-great-grandmother, Empress Leopoldina of Brazil (1797-1826) was born an Archduchess of Austria, daughter of Emperor Franz II of Austria (1768-1835), the last Holy Roman Emperor, who was also King of Bohemia - which is nowaday part of the Czech Republic.

The city's patron and namesek, St. John Nepomuk was born in Bohemia.

Representatives of the Czech Republic and of the Catholic Church were also present.

No pictures were released yet.

To mark the 6th anniversary of Prince Pedro Luiz's tragic death, Pró Monarquia, the Secretariat of the Imperial House of Brazil, published a tribute to him on it's Facebook page.

May the late Prince rest in peace, as well the other victims of that horrible plane crash.

I still recall that dreadful day.

My thoughts and prayers are with Prince Antonio, Princess Christine, Prince Rafael and Princesses Amélia and Maria Gabriela. I hope this will be a day of happy memories, of the time they spent with their son and brother.
