Last September (but I speak because it can find some interesting photos), Prince Michel de Ligne and his wife Eleonore Princess of Orleans-Braganza received the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso for a conference dinner about Europe's place in the context of globalization at the castle of Beloeil. Among the many people who attended the event included the Duke and Duchess of Braganza, Prince Nicolas of Liechtenstein, and several members of the imperial family of Brazil. Interview in English (The New Yorker) with D. João de Orleans-Bragança

D. João would later attack the journalist of the New Yorker for having censured him in this interview. The journalist didn´t publish his harsh comments on the Bush administration nor his fight for helping Down Sindrome children.

For those who don't know, 26-year-old Princess Paola (great-great granddaughter of Princess Isabel)...
There´s no way of putting the link here:

Dispute over the palace of Villamanrique

Sois rei

O Globo, 27th June 2009

Could you p[rovide a short summary in English about the dispute? I think most of us have troubles in understanding what the above means.

Here it goes:

The Petrópolis branch of the imperial family is quarreling with Maria da Glória de Orléans e Bragança (who lives in Spain and is married to the Duke of Sergobe, Ignacio de Medina y Fernández de Córdoba) about a property the family owns in Seville: Villamanrique de la Condessa.

The branch of Petrópolis are in dispute among themselves. In question it´s the castle of Villamanrique de la Condessa, close to Seville. Princess D. Maria da Glória claims to be the rightful owner of it because she has paid the keeping of the castle over the last 2 (two) years.

Here you have an article in Spanish about the place published in 2004:
Aquilino Duque - Châteaux en Espagne - Ideas

A translation into English:
Google Tradutor

The building, as it is seen today, was built by the Count of Paris, the property acquired by his father the Duke of Montpensier, and is, allow me the expression, a real château en Espagne. St. Francis de Sales said that what was need to have castles in Spain the good that there are castles in France. Should clarify that the "castle in Spain" the French people understand what they mean by the Spaniards "house of cards", and the saint of Annecy used this metaphor to combat vanity and dreams of grandeur of their countrymen. At least not one he made a case that was not either, because nothing less than aspired to the throne of St. Louis and found that nothing better could be done, waiting for reside in Versailles or the Louvre, to lift a castle cards around the Coto del Rey. . Work of the House of lords of the place from the sixteenth century, Montpensier mounted on it, taking advantage of the abundance of water, the second power plant in Spain. . The castle, the palace, white and indigo, with a French accent spoke the language of the rural architecture of Andalusia. In the group of slender palm trees welcome the visitor in the front yard stands a thin trunk Livistona australis.
