THE COURT WITHOUT TIE OF THE KINGS
Rising for the highway of access to Marivent's palace, to approximately 100 meters to the left side, there gets up a small small palace not known for the great public one, called La Masía. There there have its headquarters in the shade a limited team of high charges and civil servants of Zarzuela - not more than one dozen-, that accompany on the Kings and his family Majorca, allowing that the machinery of the Wreath should not stop.
Its definition more graphical would be that of court without tie, for that one of that the protocol relaxes enough. This way, whereas in the Zarzuela the norm is fulfilled of going to the work with suit and tie, in Marivent it is allowed to them come to the office in sleeves of shirt and trousers.
To this license in the apparel one joins the fact that between the high charges that integrate this court there is not present, at least permanently, the chief of Protocol of Zarzuela, Alfonso Sanz Portolés. Except in punctual occasions, he comes at the end of August to prepare the receipt that the Kings offer in the palace of the Almudaina to the Majorcan authorities. It supposes the end of the royal summer, though Don Juan Carlos and his family are in the habit of remaining in Marivent until beginning of September.
Of seven persons in charge of some other departments who integrate the flowchart of the Royal House, they displease Marivent, besides the chief of the house, Alberto Aza - that turn with the secretary, Ricardo Díaz Hotchleiner-, the person in charge of press, Juan Gonzalez Cebrián; the safety chief, Manuel Barros; and the director of the department of planning and coordination, colonel Domingo Martínez Palomo.
The rest comes when it is necessary. The only one of these charges that it remains the whole summer without doing shifts in Marivent is Domingo Martínez Palomo, who takes to himself two members of his team, and an assistant. It is a key department, since it receives the requests of activities for the Royal Family beside coordinating trips and to take charge of the buys and of the mail.
The correspondence is very important. Because of it, two civil servants pass the summer going and coming in plane to Madrid to gather the letters that they transport in a valise. This way the whole summer.
Apart from the mentioned personnel, Marivent is moved also by four administrative ones that realize functions of secretary, besides a scribe or assistant of press. The Prince has also to his disposition to all these civil servants and high charges.
This stage, marked for reduced of the team and certain I relax established by protocol, it gives an approximate enough image of what in Zarzuela they name " own model of vacations of the Chief of the State ". For example, if the Queen needs shampoo, the administrative one contacts with the hairdresser's shop of the mall of Porto Pi, where the hairdesser of the Queen works, to buy it. An obsession of the Royal Family is to acquire the products always in the same establishments.
For example, in an occasion, the King needed in Majorca a pillow, but it had to be of pens with measurements of 60 for 60 that only sell in a bedding of the street Goya of Madrid . So the administrative one put in touch with the Zarzuela, which called to the bedding and they sent for plane to Marivent.
Beside accumulate more functions, this team, the problems of space that exist in Marivent's palace, it moves in a peculiar mixture. Marivent's court goes forward always at the arrival of the Kings, and except the persons in charge of the house, travels in a previous flight. In this plane they travel also the treintena of escorts that protects the royal veraneo, as well as the regidora of the Zarzuela, Rosario Mateo, and a limited team of domestic service of the Kings, as the cook - chief, Antonio Paredes, he helps with chamber of the Monarch, Jesus Gracia - Don Juan Carlos and the Prince have each one two butlers, that turn - and both personal maidens of the Queen.
Reduced of the service, around six persons average, it owes to that of the cleanliness and Marivent's maintenance one entrusts the personnel of Patrimony, owner of the palace. The mentioned flight transports also the thickness of the baggage of the Kings, who take his clothes in big trunks. Later, the Monarches, with the chief of his house, move of Madrid to Palm in a Falcon of the Armed Forces, where they take his hand-luggage.
The Royal Family, even in vacations, dawns early and it likes to inform soon of the news. For this reason, the personnel of the department of press is the first one in coming to La Masía, before 8:30 a.m., to prepare a dossier. The schedule of work of the rest is from 9 to 14.00 and from 17 to 20.00 hours. During the hour of the food they stay of guard a couple of administrative, thing that also every Sunday ago. The members of the team of Marivent do not sleep in the enclosure, but in hotels of Majorca.
The high charges, which go with full expenses, lodge at hotels of five stars. The rest they go to hotels of four, with right to breakfast or half a pension and perceive diets. In the second floor the wing press is, and there is a bedroom that there is in the habit of occupying the assistant of substitute field - the King takes to Palm three of his eight assistants-, so the one that is of shift sleeps in the palace. In the basement the offices of secretary are located, and the zone of service.

How about if one day a member of the RF doesn't want to get up? (Lets face it, it happens to us all)! Do they just not get up or do they have to inform a member of staff that they're staying in bed??

Hy, Lula, many thanks for the article about the summer King's court. Very interesting to see how Juan carlos stay in relation with the "affairs" even during the hollidays. Asit's mentionnde the Palace is very fond of Press, I can imagine it's both for Marivent and Son Vent ( the residence of the Princes )
For the else, somptous pics of the Kings, the Princes and the Infantita. It's a trus pleasure to watch at all the marvellous shots, this year the fotographs can't to be furious against the Princess, she is playing perfectly her role of "shoting women" and she is very fair play with the fotographs showing the most possible as the decence agree her so little beautiful baby girl ( so, so nice )
As I can realize, the subject of te Letizia's thinness stay the most important item of the Press 's articles.May be the journalists can't have any imagination about a Princess who is an intelligent and so beautiful woman....

A shame is that today only we have had images of the Prince, tomorrow it is the day of rest in the ditch, so probably it will be necessary to wait to Friday. Tomorrow there is a dinner, but not if the members of the Royal Family come like do it to the dinner of the Breitling.

These last days I have been working very much and scarcely I could have entered the forum. Thank you very much to all for sharing all the summer images of the Royal Family, if it was not for you we would not be so informed.
I like very much this summer of the Principes, very natural, and with many images to analyze. The Princess Letizia is radiant and very relaxed , almost does not separate of the Queen, they have good friendship, and what agreat support she receives from the queen.
And what I can say of the Infanta Leonor, to my falls the slobber whenever I see her. She is beautiful and very big!!!.

Simple. Because Elena and her family have not come to Palm, it seems that they come today.
And the Infanta Cristina does not compete, and has gone away to Minorca, far from the press and the riot.
The birth of the Infanta Leonor, the life has made easier to the Infantas, the press is so obsessed by the girl, who does not matter for them that the others are not. If the Princes are not in Majorca it is a misfortune and there are many critiques. If the Infantas are not nothing happens, nobody criticizes them. The pressure on them and their families is very much minor, and they can do what they want.

Calm, it seems that it is confirmed that on Tuesday, I imagine that when when the Prince should return of Colombia there will be family photo. I hope that it is true.
It seems to me to be strange that if the Prince returns to Spain on Tuesday, the same day does the family photo to itself. I do not believe that they do the photo without the Prince ... but the journalists can get furious very much. The photo must be complete.

The Princess knows it and certainly the Royal Family, for that I believe that they have wanted that the first days were in order that the medias could catch good images of the Princes and the kings and the infanta Leonor.
But there are many days of vacations still . It will have time to see all together.
Ah! And I have to say that the journalists are very satisfied with the Kings and the Princes, because they (Kings and Princes) have facilitate much the work of the photographers and journalis for that they could have taken many images of the Infanta and of the princes and of the kings.

The Dukes of Palma are already at Palma de Mallorca. They were photographed on a yacht on August 3rd, 2006.

Not to be harsh here, but there has been picture of Leonor on 4 or 5 occasions already the last two weeks or so, she is a baby, not a little show-toy. Its bad enought that the grown ups has to cater their vacation so that the press does not get "furious" its different with the children. They have to draw a line with the children or their risk turning their vacation in to "Big-Bourbon" reality show. Elena and Cristina has so far had their vacation in private which is their right, hopefully Felipe and Letizia will go away for a few weeks as well. They cant let the press decide how they have their free time, it will be impossible for them if the can never have some private time, noone likes their in-laws and parents that much when you have passed 30

Unfortunately, the Cup of the King, it is a " great circus ", the King always has taken part, and with it has benefited the Balearic Islands, the tourism, the businessmen, the press ... he also has had his benefits, how new Fortuna...
For it, some of them believe, that the rest of the family has the obligation to continue what has made the King. Because behind it, there are a lot of political, economic, tourist interests ... the Balearic Islands are a tourist very important destiny, and the tourism one of the economic engines of the country.
Last year the Prince did not take part in the Cup of the King, and the whole people with interests (politicians, businessmen, sponsors, press), they exaggerated the topic of an incredible way.
Last year the Princes travelled 4 days to Asturias, and there was all kinds of critiques.
The Princes are in a street without exit. The strategy is the following one ... we appear initially of the vacations, during the ditches ... but later the press makes us calm. The problem is that the press does not fulfill it...
Where the King passes the summer or where the future King will do it ... it is a topic almost of State ... because behind there are a lot of political and economic interests.
It is not new. Before it was the aristocracy the one that it was going on holidays where the King was going ... with Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia, the famous summers were in Santander, where the Royal Family was establishing in the Palace of the Magdalena. Now they are the politicians, the businessmen, the famous figures or the normal people.
It happens with Majorca and happens with Baqueira Beret.

The Dukes of Palma have come to Majorca to continue with their summer vacations after passing a few days in Lanzarote. Together with their three children males, Juan, Pablo Nicolás and Miguel, could meet them on board of a catamarán enjoying of the day in the sea.
Iñaki Urdangarín, always affectionate with the smallest, threw a game of cards in cover together with Pablo and more friends who also were on board of the craft while Juan and other friends were playing over the "velas" until an adult warned them of the danger.
The infanta Cristina spent great part of the evening inside the ship though in a moment she went out to converse with her husband.
