Military parade to celebrate the opening of the Spanish Parliament eighth legislature. Expressing "hope and optimism" for his country's future, King Juan Carlos formally opened the new Spanish parliament Thursday following March 14 elections which saw a Socialist, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, promise a new direction after eight years of conservative rule.

i didn't really like leti's outfit... it made her seem even more slim  and that pony tail she is wearing since the day of her cousin's wedding, doesn't really suit her... don't you think so?

however, she was as always really elegant and sweet... :flower:

To me, the jacket looks too casual, especially for the occasion - it looks like something that could be worn w/jeans. I wish she would wear more form-fitting things, like the suit Elena wore. And I can't wait to see her in some good jewelry.

She is very beautiful, though, so in a way it eclipses the clothes.

i saw a photo of her with zapatero... her hands are sooo elegant!! ghehe :p you'll say that i've time to spend looking at such things, but it was such an elegant hand...

I think she looks great. The makeup is toned down. This is good. She looks more "fresh". Outfit. I do not know. I suppose it could be more formal but I am not up on such things.

i agree, she is simply a beautiful woman, purely objectively speaking, simply very beautiful. 3 kilos more and her chin is not as pronounced anymore, imagine when she is going to be pregnant, shell look adorable...poor thing, all that pressure;-)

As I was looking at the photos (great photos, by the way agm, thanks for sharing all of them! :flower:) there was something that definitely struck me about Letizia's jacket. Then I read Lady Jean's comments about the jacket being too casual, and I think partly (for me) that is what it is. The jacket seems too formal for the occasion and the rest of Letizia's dress. I feel that a one-piece dress like that should be worn with either a (shorter) fitted jacket, such as the one Cristina is wearing, or with a long jacket (of the same length as the dress), also fitted. This short and loose, casual jacket of Letizia's makes the outfit "wishy-washy" for me.

I would have to agree that this is the second thing that struck me too. The first thing was "I'd like to see the dress underneath!"... I think the dress would have looked very sweet - the way the bottom is pleated and billows a bit is very sweet IMO.

Overall though, it does seem a bit too casual, especially the big buttons on the shoulder of the jacket. The shoes were very very nice and the skirt bit very nice. Perhaps she could have worn another coloured jacket and more fitted?

Usually I prefer Cristina but Elena looked very nice!

Does anyone have any photos of the Barcelona dinner? is that the dinner where she wore that plastic-y blue jacket?

I really loved Letizia's dress. To me, the entire outfit (white suit, hair, shoes) made her look sweet and girlish.

Her arms look emaciated! And I'm all for color, but what was that top all about?

again, i have to agree fully.

she stoped radiating, her face is very dull these days. the orange....well...the cut...well....the figure: very nice but............well...............................

I liked the color and the cut as well as the top...it shows a less stuffy side to Royalty, which I think is needed in many of the families! But she does look rather emaciated in the arms!

Also, was it just me or did she look like Queen Rania of Jordan in many of the profile pictures taken at a distance?

That's exactly what I thought! Just like Mary, Letizia has definitely lost weight since her engagement became public knowledge. Poor thing, she must be under tremendous pressure. I have to admit, the Spanish royal family is my favorite. I do like Letizia, even though she stole my Felipe! :innocent:

i loved that orange top...

do you really think so?
she has always been very slim...

Persons not seeing Letizia has lost weight since her engagement announcement - are just not willing to accept it imo - We did not see her naked arms, shoulders or neck in november - but we did see her face - now she certainly is once more in an extremely thin phase (like when reporting from the oil spill in Galatia). Isn't this problem some of the few things her former colleagues have stated about Letizia ?

LTR has persons with detailed knowledge on everything published on Letizia :) here is a question for you :

The norwegian Se og Hør published a photo of not so amused Crown Prince Felipe and Letizia - writing it was taken on the streets of Barcelona saturday 17.april.

The "paper" and their photos are not online - does this description make you think of another date - I mean; are they for sure taken another day ?

Felipe : middle brown swede shoes, dark brown trousers, white shirt with light blue checkered pattern, diagonal striped tie in blue, brown, red and an open middle brown jacket

Letizia : loose (long!) hair, carrying a white coat on her left arm while her right arm "controlled" a brown shoulder bag with two large brass rings on the strap, denim jeans, knittet west: dark brown with four short horisontal stripes in pink, long blouse visible beneath the west - it's checkered pattern in pink and light green was also on the blouse's left sleeve while the right sleeve was green with a coloured pattern at the wrist.
