HI&RH Prince Georg Friedrich & HSH Princess Sophie von Isenburg, Aug 2011

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I didn't see any pictures of the Prussian aunts or uncles of prince Georg Friedrich. Even no photo of Christian Sigismund and his wife Nina. Does anybody know if they were there or have all children of Louis Ferdinand issues with the prince? I understand that the two elder uncles were not invited and there were some rumours about Christian Sigismund not being too happy that the Wummelhof was being sold.

No one of the uncles have been there and also not Princess Marie Cécile. But Princess Ehrengard was there with her children and daughter-in-law and also the children of Prince Christian Sigismund. Not sure if the Oldenburg-Cousins attended.

To Stephan,
Again my question why was the Duke of Oldenburg , Donata's second husband not on the family picture ?

Oh yes I did indeed very much. Very nice couple, very natural and emotional, more than other Royal Weddings I saw lately, an nice and decent wedding ceremony - my royal heart was deeply touched and is yearning for more. Maybe a miracle one day....

Regards
Alex R.

I agree with you. It was my favourite wedding this year. They are maybe not reigning Royals, but more regal. And it was refreshing to see a bride who works, does charity, doesn´t needs the support of her boyfriend. :flowers: A role model IMO.

Thank you for sharing your report and your pictures. That must have been an amazing weekend for you.

...how I would love to have a look at their private wedding album!

This wedding dress not appeal to me, however I think it looks nicer with the jacket off.

It was anyway a big surprise to see this two girls at the wedding. One of the TV commentators ( the only really well informed - so I trust this information) said, that one of his ex-girlfriend attended the wedding.
( Oh, Diana ...I hear you...)

I was looking for Caroline von Linsingen, but then I saw Luisa Orsini. Both families, Prussia and Orsini d'Aragona, seem to be friends, but it was said that both had a realtionship.
I saw once a TV-report of the Kira foundation concert 2005. He was touching her all time after concert's reception and even on the prussian website, she was called as enchanting guest although this website tries to write their statements as demure as possibile:

Preussen.de - 60. Wohltätigkeitskonzert der Prinzessin Kira von Preussen-Stiftung

Princess Luisa Orsini has quite an interesting genealogy...Her mother is or was Georgian Ambassador to the Vatican,Princess Kethevan Bagration-Mouhkransky(related to GD Maria Vladimirovna as her grandfather and Princess Kethevan's grandfather were second sousins)...

From her father's side she has descended from Italian Princes Orsini-Dukes of Gravina,Princes Torlonia di Civitella-Cesi,Princes Caracciolo-Torella,Princes Borghese and Princes Erba-Odescalchi and also from German Princes of Hohenzollern(Hechingen line),Princes von Clary und Aldringen,Princes von Khevenhüller-Metsch,Princes von Liechtenstein...

Luisa's great-grandfather was Fillipo Orsini,a Raichsfürst, but Orsini family was not included in famous list of "equal" families...

I pointed all this out just to assume what kind of status would this Princess Orsini have if she was the bride as Georg Friedrich who was required an equal marriage to keep his inheritance...

As a daughter of Prince whose family had the title of Raichsfürst(Orsini) and a Princess of former ruling family(Bagration)...

So,equal/not equal?Any thoughts?

Gotha rates them as H3, so she is NOT equal. Institut Deutsche Adelsforschung, Register des Gotha, Buchstaben A-B

What means H3? H stands for Hochadelige Häuser ( royal, princely or mediatized noble houses), 1 - 3 is the rank inbetween the group. 1 is the cream of the crop, 3 the lower part.

H1 means nowadays or former sovereigns (Première Partie – Généalogie des Maisons Souveraines)
H2 are mediatized houses: means former noble reigning houses, which rights were abridged by Napoleon ( this is a very short explanation)(Deuxième Partie – Généalogie des Maisons seigneuriales médiatisées en Allemagne qui ont les droits d'égalité de naissance avec les maisons souveraines)
H3 are most of all princely houses, that never been sovereigns or became a meditized house (Troisième Partie) - like Bismarck, Galitzine or Pückler.

Equal according to the prussian house law are only H1 (themselves) and H2 ( like Castell Rüdenhausen or Isenburg).

So there was no chance for a marriage. But imo they didn't fit together very well and she is too young for him. She is more a representative of that south european catholic old noble or old rich families crowd - high fashion, party ....a very special scene to which the T'n'T's or the Casiraghis belong ( or very new: the Hanoveranians boys;) ) Sophie is just what Georg needs. And she speaks german and knows the particular german noble rules etc.

Thanks a lot for the pictures, Tilia! :flowers:

The meander tiara looked fantastic on Sophie and I also liked her dress (though better without the jacket). It was modern, but elegant. I think Joop (who looked chic in his red suit as well :D ) did a good job. Overall this might have been my favorite royal wedding this year. Both seemed so happy and their emotions for each other were clearly visible. I didn't know too much about them, but I've really warmed to them and GF in particular has impressed me a lot this year.

Thank you for your reply...and couldn't agree more regarding Sophie ;)

Im surprised this was on TV,since they no longer have a monarchy.I wonder what the couple thought of it.

Wow! Sophie's gown is vastly improved without the jacket. Even though I'm still "eh" about it, I really enjoy seeing the ruching details on the bodice and I love that tiara she wore to the reception.

Thanks for finding and uploading those bunte pics, Tila!

Congratulatios to the couple!
it was a fantastic wedding a live stream wedding of a royal germans

PrincessofEurope,
Thanks for the sharing additional information!
The second tiara is a magnificent piece. Princess Sophie looked great in it, and hopefully she will wear it more often.
