These people are just as royal as e.g. the royal families of Spain, Denmark, Belgium etc.
They were 'kings' of Bavaria untill not so very long ago. Most German royal houses lost their power after WWI. But most of them are still very loved by the population. Elisabeth of Bavaria, has the predicate SAR (her royal highness). |

Some more info on this couple:
They said they met in Vienna 4 years a go and that it was love at first sight. The bride is a decendant of Ludwig III, the last king of Bavaria, and a niece of duke Franz in Bavaria, head of the royal house (so he would have been king if the family was still in power). Her veil was 5 meter long. The couple will live in Bielefeld, where Daniel works as director of the family firm. He's an important representant of the textile industry in Germany. Elisabeth studied photography, a few years ago she started studying again, business management, and will be finishing her studies next year. the bride said she will miss Bavaria but she's looking forward to her new life. Her previous family homes were Wildbad Kreuth and caste Wildenwart in Chiemgau. source:Berchtesgadener Anzeiger. |

I think it is a very good idea for them to wait it out and then get married. It can only make their relationship stronger.

Relationships are different for everybody. Just because you may wait only a year or two before getting married (and if no proposal you would say good bye I guess?) but others wait 6 or 7 years or more. Harald and Sonja of Norway waited 9 years before getting married and I don't think anyone thinks any less of their relationship. Frederik and Mary waited 3+ years. And on the other hand Felipe and Letizia waited only a year or so. Abou the pictures: They all look like they are having a good time, especially at the pre-wedding ball. Mostly those occasions look so stiff and formal but here it looks like a real party and a real celebration. |

I also agree it's better to wait a bit longer. Better to wait 4 years, get to know each other really well, and know that you can stay together for the rest of your lives, than to get married head over heels and divorce a few years later.
Anyway, waiting a few years like this is very normal in Europe. |
